Pakistan close on 198/4 in the 2nd Test at Multan, requiring another 157 runs to win

Babar trying to save Rizwan’s career here so he can get some runs against pace first up instead of facing spin in the middle

I think you're right. A ruthless "standard Test mode" team with any substance could probably have put on the chase in Test 1 or batted England right out of this game.

Pakistan batting is suddenly worse than I thought. I had Rizwan banked in as quality, Imam promising and Babar is one of the fab 4 - which he probably still is, just in his "Root as captain only scoring 60s" phase.

If Ramiz really advised the selection of these "bits n pieces adding up to nothing" allrounders for Tests then he has made a huge blunder and placed Babar's captaincy under pressure as a result (I don't think you can remove it from Babar because there is literally no one else).

The solution is more Shaheens tours to help promising batsmen make a case and gain wider experience to bridge the gap between FC & Test. Matter of finding some of this money from home matches to fund that if possible.
 
Not fully convinced by England. They have been made to look way better than they actually are by a poor Pakistan team. A team like Australia will make them pay dearly for their irresponsible approach.
 
This timid lot will get even more defensive, maybe super ultra defensive thinking we have eternity to chase this target, let's chill even more, even 1.5 run per over is enough to get the target, and they may not even score at that rate, That's how horrible and timid this bunch is. Lack of skill you can live with hit lack of heart not a chance.

Not with this line up. You need Sehwag type of players. Strauss once declared at 311/9 leaving India to get 387 in 4 sessions. Sehwag scored 83 in 22 overs of the match and got out. That set up a famous 5th day win for India. He rightly won the man of the match. india has no player like Sehwag in the set up. Only Pant can do something.
 
We have just started third day and the 4th innings of the Test is already under way. Moving extremely fast this game.

Rizwan needs to take some reaponsibility here now, he started the collapse in first innings.
 
Rizwan is playing as an opener ? Unless Imam is injured, this is pathetic and biased decision. Not all the players get such chances to save their freaking career.

Rizwan career is safe for another 4 years. No ones career us being saved Imam is in hospital so someone else has to open. Rizwan is used to opening albeit in white ball. Unfair to expect Saud to open early in his career.
 
Rizzy bhai will guide Abdullah toward a long partnership. Abdullah is a special player.
 
Inzamam played an epic knock agianst Bangladesh in Multan to chase 300+. Babar has to play a knock of his lifetime to chase this. Innings like that can make you an instant legend
 
Positive start for a change, but that has more to do with England not bowling Wood or Anderson. Don't know why. Anyway blockathon is never far away from this team that too for no apparent reason.

They have some audacity to use root as first change to win a Test match lol So far they have put a foot wrong. England is still in safe position. Another 100 more runs they will start looking more desperate
 
Typical lull before the storm, even if they get to 200 for no loss they will still 100% bottle it, and can still easily get all out under 250, because right now nobody expect them to chase this. It's when there is realistic chance than they start bottling it.

This is now basically a 4 batter team so task is simple. Need 3 centuries and a fifty from top order.

Cannot expect any contribution from #5 and below

If Imam is not available then it is fine.
 
We need Masood in next test in place of Agha who neither contributes with bat nor with ball.

I would also drop Rizwan and bring in Sarfaraz to show Rizwan he is not untouchable.
 
Pakistan to win this, putting this nonsensical approach from England to bed. They could have easily ensured a victory by grinding Pakistan to the ground. But a brave fight back from Pakistan looks likely now
 
As I said England bowling is pathetic Pakistan have a decent chances of chasing

You are right about Salman he should be replaced but Rizwan has done nothing wrong this series , played a goodish inning in first test and is fighting it out well here. His keeping is as good as it gets with odd blemishes that all keepers produce.
 
Despite good start pakistans tail starts at 5 with Agha. We saw same issue in 3rd test vs Aus where we started run chase well but then our long tail got exposed. Fahim (if he bats)should be batting ahead of Agha, nawaz and imam.
 
This is a slow low pitch. You need to be careful in playing the cross bat shot.
 
Babar innings is written on his face and body language when he walks in the ground to bat. If he is confident in body language he scores good runs like he saved that karachi test. One can easily tell what is babar upto when he walks in

Becouse Pakistan Spinner are pathetic bar Abrar who is still newbie .leach is not causing any trouble for Pakistan Batsman if they play sensible.

Rizwans 0*(17) in last test and and 0*(19) in this test is enough reflection of what damage he has done the momentum.
 
Good start but to win the game one of the openers have to carry their bat through or give a 200+ opening stand
