Pakistan comprehensively defeat England by nine wickets in first Test at Lord's

"Pakistan cricket has been in a downward spiral for two decades" - Fluke master

In just last 2 years

2016: Drew series with England
2016: Reached number 1 ranking in Tests
2017: Won Champions Trophy
2017: Reached and sustained number 1 ranking in T20 (no other team has held it longer iirc)
2018: Beat NZ in NZ in a T20 series (no other Asian side has done that)
2018: Beat England in a Lord's test and may go on to win series

Downward spiral :))

Pakistan cricket is finished we should give up and play T20 cricket..maybe ask India for some help..

Congratulations to all the supporters 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Lol at all the haters 😂😂😂

Win or lose, always back the boys 🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰

Great win, glad that they did not let the tail wag today. esp. impressed with the bowling of Abbas and Amir

And remember this was a very inexperienced test team too. Several players incl. Amam, Haris, Shadab, Abbas, Faheem and Hassan were playing their first test in England

Congrats to Sarfaraz and the team for such a clinical performance; completely outclassed England in this test

However the next and final test is at Headingley, Leeds where conditions will be a bit different from London. Pakistan usu do well at Lords and The Oval

Well coached.
Well skippered.
Well prepared.
Balanced Team with Shadab and Ashraf.

Magnificent all round display. Obliterated the English in their home in perfect home conditions.

What a win!

I have to eat my words (I stated the early swing conditions in May might be too much for the batsmen). This series is now Pakistan's to lose, as Headingly will likely be another flat deck and the weather should be quite hot.

If Pakistan can bat first, put on a big score of 350-400, no reason why they can't make England capitulate once again.

However, let us not forget there is still a lot to improve on. Sarfraz can not let the game slip post tea again, the openers need a stand and whichever new batsman is picked, needs to be given full confidence.

Great performance from Pakistan, to be honest, I couldn't believe what I was watching at times, it was so easy!

Congrats to Pakistan, youre putting together very good professional sides for all formats. A huge positive is most of them are young and are only going to get better.

Congrats pakistan. I actually thought they would struggle in series due to poor batting line up. But the team has got use to conditions well, they batted, bowled and fielded with patients and discapline and goes to show if you work well as a bowling and batting units you can win games. Hopefully they can win series at headingley

Why do you think we have a poor batting line up?

These batsmen are technically better players of fast bowling than our previous teams. Not poor in any way.

A combination of Pak batsmen historically being poor against seam swing and the fact that Anderson/Broad were playing at home.

Great performance by the lads! We are quick to attack them when they play poorly so lets also give credit when they turn it on. I don't think England even won a session in the entire match. It also has to be remembered that Babar's injury meant England did not dismiss our entire team in the first innings. Had Babar not got injured the victory would have been more comprehensive. The Test team is not as bad as people seem to think, to form a top class side there needs to be consistency at every level. Pak tends to chop and change to much in Test Cricket just for the sake of it creating an imbalance and uncertainty for no reason. Beware of a vengeful England at Headingley where they will be looking to tie the series. Haris Sohail looked good, eager to see who replaces Babar otherwise no need to make any changes. Pak rocks!

After seeing Pak easily role over England in the 1st Test India will probably not even need Kohli for the Eng-Ind series. Pak has shown India how to tame the English with ten men! Only thing is whilst India's batting is better then ours I am not sure about the bowling.

Thoroughly Clinical performance ... I wish India could produce similar performance with the ball ...

Meanwhile somewhere in Peshawar.........

More of that to come after Headingley bro.

Congrats to you on this win!

Congrats Pakistan well played. Looking forward to the next one. Eng have no option but to go for the win there to square the series so should be a good contest.
