In a must win game, Australia won the toss and chose to bat on a good batting surface. Wahab Riaz gave Pakistan some early joy, dismissing Usman Khawaja and David Warner early. However Australia continued to pile on the runs, and some poor bowling and fielding allowed them to rack up 193-4 from 20 overs. Steve Smith's 61 off 43 and Shane Watson's 44 off 21 were the key contributions.

In reply, Sharjeel Khan got Pakistan off to a great start, and after that Umar Akmal played a good hand. Khalid Latif stuck around but perhaps wasn't able to accelerate enough and it left Pakistan too much to do. Some lusty blows from Malik kept Pakistan in the hunt but James Faulkner's 5 wickets ultimately let to a 21 run win for the Australians.

The agony is over. It's been a painful few months for fans and players, none more so than Shahid Afridi.

Expected results...they were never in contention to reach Semi finals any way..better start building new team for future.

No one hardly cares that I know, maybe expectations were much lower this time even though it can an unpredictable format at times.

Anyway simply not good enough, both bat and ball especially crucial movements along with the uninspiring captaincy.

Well it is safe to say 99% of the people who are knowledgeable about cricket said Pak would be knocked out after the first round.

It's one of the moments where people feared for the worst. It has now just happened, we lost countless and countless amount of games before the WC and during the WC. It's not the end of the world but I don't really know where we are gonna go from here.

Batting did better than expected. Bowling was exposed. Spinners are a success in this tournament, yet Afridi wicketless and expensive in 3 out of 4 games

It was expected, didn't expect us to get out of the group stages, we just did not have the players, no quality openers, no real spinner, Irfan/Sami/Riaz are all poor yet people think they are legit.

Amir did well in the first few games but not so good in these last 2, still miles better than the rest of the bowlers and for a t20 games you shouldn't be worrying too much.

Positive are that finally these players should go now and never play in this format again -

Shahzad
Hafeez
Sami
Afridi
Irfan
Riaz

Also it was a bad choice bringing Latif out at 3

Always said Malik/Akmal should be at 3/4

why hafeez he has the highest abverage in wc t20

To be fair Pakistan were badly let down by their bowling in this tournament...leaked just too many runs against both NZ and Aus. Probably should have gone with two pacers and three spinners. Even part time slow bowlers have been successful in this competition. Look at NZ for instance. We just did not pick the right XI for the conditions.

Batting wasn't special but it actually performed better than the bowling.

Pakistan poor team in limited overs for a long time and in decline in these formats. We are about 10 to 15 years behind.
Annoying and frustrating that players can't do basics well like fielding, catching, running between wickets, hitting the stumps in the field etc. Even frustrating when players do not use there head and play according to the situation eg giving short pitch buffet bowling, bowling wides, not taking singles and giving wickets away silly like Shehzad did today against Australia.

The worst thing for me is these players not having mental strength and temperament. They can't absorb pressure and get rattled and scumb to pressure.

Also, players who make a national team should be complete players and not have weaknesses to basic and necessary things they have to play against. Eg Sharjeel has weakness against spin etc

I have in my opinion an important observation. Our best bowler - Amir - was not his best self this tournament.

He has had, after coming back into cricket, non-stop play time. It would be hard work for anyone to be playing day in and day out from the time he played club matches to grade 2 to first class to BPL to international cricket to PSL to World T20. But for someone who has come back after a long hiatus, it was just a bridge too far.

He was fatigued. And it showed. Waqar should have managed his work load better.

More and more excuses...Musrafizur was injured and not even completely fit still he played better than Amir...

If Pakistan doesn't manage workloads of their players, they have only themselves to blame. So that's no an excuse by definition.

Then they should have rested him from PSL.

This is an excuse because there are many players who played all 3 formats in last one year and still competing well in the WC..,as I give example of Mustafizur even not fit he bowled better. Why can't you guys admit that he may not have that great as you guys assumed??

Amir is the only world class player in this Pak circus - the rest are criminally pathetic!

all throughout the Asia cup Amir was the greatest bestest finest fast bowler of all time. Now he is not so good but lets blame Waqar.

The death bowling, especially overall with a special mention to Mohammad Sami, and then Khalid Latif in the batting department lost Pakistan the game. I know it´s unfair to blame only two out of the 11 guys playing, but if only had Sami conceded 10 runs less, or had Latif batted at a slightly better strike-rate to have made around 60 runs of those 41 balls, Pakistan would have won.

This was my father´s opinion mind you and the more I reflected on this yesterday the more convinced I got with his view.

What about the fielding where they let at least 10 runs slip away.

Well that´s the department where Pakistan are most hopeless. I do take your point but one the other hand, it´s usually considered a good day as long as they don´t drop catches, even though they 'managed' to turn many ones or twos into fours.

I think for the long term it is a good result for Pakistan cricket.

Think about it. If somehow you guys qualified, only to be beaten in the Semis, Afridi/ Shehzad etc. would be like heroes and PCB will persist with them for many more tourneys.

Pakistan needs a complete overhaul. The so called seniors are non-performers for a long time now. Atleast in LOI, PCB should have a team from scratch (retain Sarfaraz, Amir, Wahab and Sharjeel). Others should be booted out for good.

Agree. In WC2015 our victory over choke masters South Africa and then Wahabs hyped spell vs Watson made it seem like we had done in OK in the tournament whereas we had been played off the park in most matches
