35 overs to go. less than 150 to get. Is a winning chase still on?

I reckon they should seriously assess at 20 overs to go.

:)) forget that. Fawad gone.

Draw all the way now. Boys need some inspiration from :misbah

Fawad should be give a size 10 bata chapal across the face when he gets back to changing room after getting out to KP!

And apparently Sarfraz is being dealt with major injustice as he's miles better than Adnan in batting

England are too hot for the PCB 11 and PCB has a lot of thinking to do as there is apparantly no one to replace Misbah and Younis when they retire.

7 down as sohail gone! Pretty much PCB X1 batting has been poor in both inns!

Unless Raza and Talha dig in like 1st inns its game over here!

Sounds like Tremlett is bowling well, i imagine he will play ahead of Finn in the first test.

even ICC XI put a better show against england. PCB XI players haven't taken any thing from this match for their future except yasir shah

Well, at least you know that Raza Hasan can hold a bat lol.

Won't happen, especially with Bresnan not being here.

england could play 5 batsmen, prior at 6 and broad at 7.

Morgans been pants with the bat and will get found out during test series as well if hes picked!

Flower & Strauss will go in with what's been successful so far, unless we get a sound beating in the first test, i can't see England changing.

I tend to agree re Morgan, his form is worrying, and he's only got an average first class record anyway. Batsmen should be picked via weight of domestic runs, not how they perform in limited overs.

Yasir's gone. 8 down.

Now upto the heroes of the first innings, who batted over 25 overs, to bat 16 overs out.

on Monty's form I'd play him as second spinner.

But yes Tremlett should be playing ahead of Finn as far as I'm concerned anyway. Tremlett in the recent tests he's played as been very good for England, and done/looked better than Finn in those tests. Hence deserves to be ahead of him. Finn may have improved, but we'll only see that when he's actually on the international stage, at the moment in all fairness Tremlett should be picked first. Can't just predict him to fail in these conditions, as shown he might be quite effective.

What would be your ideal XI? Surely England should go with 5 batsmen, Prior, Swann, Broad, Tremlett, Anderson & Panesar?

That would really increase their chances of winning? Although with Pietersen and Bell not scoring in the practice game, perhaps they may stick with their tried and tested formula.

My ideal XI

Strauss
Cook
Trott
KP
Bell
Prior
Broad
Swann
Tremlett
Anderson
Panesar

However i think they will go in with:

Strauss
Cook
Trott
KP
Bell
Morgan
Prior
Broad
Swann
Tremlett
Anderson

Might be worth going with five bowlers actually, team would look stronger. With Bresnan I definitely would have gone with five, but now he's out, England's tail looks a little longer. Still five bowlers is probably the best option.

If they do go with four, I'd pick Panesar over an extra pacer so long as Panesar's in form.

Guess this would be my England XI then
1. Strauss
2. Cook
3. Trott
4. Bell
5. Pietersen
6. Prior
7. Broad
8. Swann
9. Anderson
10. Panesar
11. Tremlett

Would like to see Bell batting at four now instead of Pietersen.

Hmm, i'm thinking maybe the PCBXI should have reversed their batting order in the second innings.

hope players like raza hasan, yasir shah, and talha are given a go in the three 20/20's

Why is Raza outperforming our batsmen yet again with the bat? The guy hasn't even done anything of worth with the bat in domestic.

I'm happy for Raza, but if Raza can bat in these conditions I wonder why our other batsmen can't. Two straight failures for everyone except Fawad perhaps with a half century. It's unacceptable, especially since the middle order of Usman, Fawad, Sohail perhaps even Sarfaz are regularly some of the most prolific batsmen on the domestic scene in Pakistan.

Hasan's resistance comes to an end. Definitely the best Pakistani batsman over the two innings and that tells you enough about how much of a failure the batting has been in this match.

I was hoping for a big score from :fawad once he reached his fifty! But he got out to a half-tracker from Pietersen! :12:

Didn't get out to Swann in either innings (apparently, Swann was going to eat him alive according to some people here) and top scored with a fifty, but still......

Exactly. Can't blame the conditions. Can't blame being up against a side too good as ICCXI put up a better performance and they weren't against Anderson and Broad, but Onions and Tremlett.

Match over. England win by 100 runs. Monty has 8 wickets for the match, Swann has 2...hmm.

Well this is a lesson for all PPers not to get over excited by domestic performances and think that these players are going to be ready made for test cricket etc...

good win for england as expected...not that dissapointed with the pcb 11 as we have found a good player in yasir shah and talha has made some inroads. dissapointed with sarfraz, but pleased that fawad has staked a claim again. One has to temper their criticism a bit as most of these players are not internationals and did reasonably well against a seasoned England side with great strength in depth.

I have a fear our test matches will go along similar lines..losing two quick wickets, yk and misbah consolidate but then get out stupidly to Monty, akmal and shafiq bring us back in for a small period before england blow away the tail.

at this moment in time a 1-0 loss would be a good result for Pakistan!

but then again we could bowl em out for 190 and then rack up 400 in tuk tuk style..lol..so who knows?

very disappointed with PCB XI. :(

don't be. Most of these guys played against this level for the first time. It's a one-off game; some times these things happen.
This team (essentially the A-team) should do some foreign tours, only then we can identify and confirm national level players.

Made a case for themselves:
Yasir
Talha
Fawad

Showed Glimpses:
Usman Salahuddin
Raza Hasan

Jury's out:
Afaq
Ayub
Haris

Disappointed (Expected more):
Nasir Jamshed
M. Khalil
Sarfaraz Ahmed

when was the last time a visiting team played 2 practice matches before starting the tour?

Raza Hasan not ready for the longer version of game at all. He was pretty much ordinary in the QEA Trophy also. I was surprised at his inclusion in this team.
