We as fans need to show some patience, If you look at other teams they have number of top players at their peak (Williamson, Guptill, Taylor, Kohli, Dhawan, Rohit, Root, Stokes, Buttler, Smith, Warner, Duplesis, Rabada, Miller) and except Rabada none of them were of the same quality they are now when they started, earlier stats prove that.

While for us a countless number of young players are yet to achieve their peak while others are past their prime. In next couple of years the youngsters we have will become more experienced and mature and even if 3 or 4 of them become world class players Pakistan cricket team will be one of the top teams around.

Babar Azam is the best batsmen around for his age (He is just 24 with much less matches so dont compare him with Kohli, Root, Williamson, Smith etc) while Shaheen Shah is one of the most promising upcoming young pacers around. Shadab, Hassan, and Fakhar have been hot and cold but have definitely shown glimpses of their potential. There are others as well, we just need to be patient for couple of years. Of course they can win some outstanding matches and can loose as well but consistency only comes with experience which they all lack at the moment.

Only Sarfraz and Amir are the most disappointing ones at the moment as they should have been at their peak by now but rest are still to play handful number of matches.

Imam 23
Fakhar 28
Babar 24
Sarfaraz 31
Talat 22
Rizwan 26
Imad 30
Shadab 20
Shaheen 18
Amir 26
Hassan 24
Shinwari 25
Faheem 25

These are just the current players, there are number of upcoming youngsters as well like:

Saud Shakeel 23
Mohammad Musa 19
Naseem Shah 18
Rizwan Hussain 22
Mohammad Junaid
Usama Mir
Saif Badar
Zeeshan Malik
etc

Others in the loop like
Mohammad Nawaz 24
Rumman Raees 26
Sahibzada Farhan 22
Zafar Gohar 23
etc

It also has lowest batting average of a team playing two batsmen who have been around for more than 15 years

When India won the World T20 in 2007 the average age of squad was just 24. There was not even a single person ageing over 30 in that squad.

Same goes for India s semi march in 2015 world cup when the average age of squad was 27

Good to know and these youngsters were the key players in CT 17 for Pakistan as well.

I dont mind seeing ups and downs in the forms of others but Shoaib an Hafeez either have to win matches at this age or should be out of the team so that a youngster can come in and develop.

The quality of youngsters coming through in India vs Pakistan is a world of a difference. Our talent stocks are not at the level demanded by international cricket

This is what I have said many times. Its a group of young players who need to be persisted with and helped, rather than continuously harangued by an impotent and ignorant media and fan base.

This is exactly why i fear India is going to get hammered. These useless oldies in the middle order will screw India over. All it takes is one opener going out of form.

Well the problem is that with Hafeez and Malik, a third of our batting line-up is made up of players close to 40 (thats if we go by the date stated on their birth certificates). Plus these batsmen are averaging in the low thirties and one of them is absolutely pathetic against anything faster then slow medium pace.

Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah not comparable to you youngsters coming through in India? I dont think even some Indian fans would agree to it.

Which Indian youngster has set the world alight in the last 2 years? don’t come out with domestic stats as there is a triple ton in Rajni every other week

Hafeez and malik are still youngster beauties in selectors eyes

Kuldeep Yadav and to a certain extent Prithvi Shaw

This is a ridiculous statement if anyone including Indians think that there are better Indian youngsters currently in Indian domestic or First class who are better or even comparable to Babar or Shaheen. If that was the case the current Indian lineup would be setting the world on fire and wouldn’t fold like a pack of cards to the Nz team for a trivial score of 92 in the last Odi. But the current Indian lineup is carrying a laughable middle order consisting of Old man Dhoni, fat boy Jhadav and a ttf’s like Hacakdu and shortman Karthik.

Ok we know the average age, so what about the batting average?

Is it as low as the age average aswell?:yk

The sad part being that Hafeez, Malik still are one of the better ones compared to the youngsters coming.

Malik can't hit big, but Hafeez is still one of the best boundary hitters in the team.

The talent available is a sad state of affairs. The reason we are only getting worse since the retirement of some good performers.

One of them has to go ASAP.

Sarfraz, Fakhar and Imad should be the lone 30+ players after 2020 T20 WC.

Give any youngster 200 games and I am pretty sure that they will also be atleast at same the level batting wise as Malik and Hafeez.

They both were top all rounders at their peak but batting wise alone I think any young player can become atleast as good as they are after 200 odd games.

So I dont agree with the general argument that keep playing them as they are better then youngsters. Youngsters will also get better by playing each game.

How can you look at average age but exclude the oldest two players?? Did you do that for the other teams as well to determine we have the youngest team??

I get your point, but we have seen how a Hafeezless side struggled in the middle overs. The rest of them are accumulators while Hafeez is a natural stroke maker. It requires him less effort to get those boundaries. We saw it in the ODI series as well.

Do not like Hafeez, but it is what it is. Also agree about 200 games etc. but we got to look to the next 6 months first as the WC is due.

Yes both should be dropped. Both have issues against pace and they have failed individually when it matters most. No other country would have this much faith in these 2 players.
