Khawaja Asif just gave a masterclass in confusion—first Imran’s tweeting from jail, then it’s India, then it’s “intelligence.” No proof, no clarity, just stammering spin. Meanwhile, Imran Khan remains behind bars, silenced but still shaping the narrative. The system fears the voice it couldn’t break.

----------------------------------

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was left flustered during a conversation on Imran Khan’s X (Twitter) account. During an interview, Asif was slammed for making contradictory allegations regarding the social media activity of the former Pakistani Prime Minister.

During an interview with British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan, Asif first claimed that Imran Khan was operating his Twitter account from inside the Adiala Jail in Pakistan.

However, when Hasan pointed out the Defence Minister’s previous assertion that Khan’s account was controlled by India, Asif tried to backtrack, stammering in his response.

“He is operating a Twitter account from the jail cell," Asif said to Hasan, who then grilled the Defence Minister, saying, “You said he was operating from India the other day… You said India is controlling his Twitter account… You just made two different allegations. Is it Imran in his prison cell or is it India?"

The visibly flustered Pakistani Defence Minister replied, “Either he is operating from the cell or he should at least identify who is operating the jail cell."

When asked for evidence to support his claims, the Defence Minister cited “intelligence sources" but refused to provide any verifiable proof. “The evidence I cannot publicly disclose," Asif said.

When pressed further by Hasan on the rationale, “If you cannot publicly disclose the evidence, why make the claim?" Asif retorted, “No, because it is there." When cornered on the source of his claim, if India controlled Khan’s X account, Asif conceded, “Yes, based on, obviously, intelligence. Nobody is stating it openly."

Mehdi also questioned the Defence Minister about the current Pakistani government’s handling of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, who has been imprisoned since August 2023 despite widespread international criticism and UN experts labelling his detention as “illegal".

Asif dodged the question, saying, “He must prove that he has clean hands." Imran Khan was taken into custody from his Lahore residence following a three-year prison sentence handed down in a corruption case back in August 2023.

Mehdi makes mincemeat of the world's most seasoned and battle hardened politicians.

Putting Khawaja uncle in front of him was a recipe for disaster
And to think that Mehdi took easy on him. He lied on jail-He didn't serve 6 months in jail and his cases also predated IK and much was spent in hospital.

Mehdi Hassan is so good that he actually lost his job because of it. MSNBC fired him as host because he couldn't book any guests - they were all afraid of his grilling.

That isn't true.

They tried to demote him because of his stance on Gaza, he refused the demotion. 2 others Muslims were also removed by MSNBC

The guests weren't the issue. He seems to be able to big names on his own platform.

Only 1/2 of the story. The AIPAC guys could never an independent voice on the Palestinian issue to be heard by the American people. Khwaja is used to idiots at Geo

That maybe partly true. But the other two muslim hosts you mentioned, who talk about Gaza, are still working with MSNBC whereas Mehdi was fired.

Mehdi made the Zionists squirm and they ran and had him shut down. Due to him the Israelis are now struggling to control the narrative, although Congress and media are still controlled by them.

He obviously knew nothing about Mehdi and just assumed he would go easy on him because of Pakistani heritage.

I can only laugh at the mere thought of these crooks being interviewed by Mehdi. They wouldn’t last five minutes with an honest Pakistani journalist in a safe setting, let alone with Mehdi. :D

Apparently Khwaja and Munshi started to bark at each other after the interview. Munshi probably enjoyed this after his sharing like a swine act on Hard talk a few years ago.

What has the reaction to this interview in Pakistan been? Ouitside everyone is clearly laughing and meme'ing it.

MH is not of Pakistani heritage, but Indian Hyderabadi stock. Very clever guy, who even managed to to persuade Piers Morgan to finally label Gaza a 'genocide'. It is Asif's hubris that drove this disastrous interview.

Mehdi was really restrained and threw softballs and still Khawaja couldn't handle it shows how incompetent the Pakistani Ministers really are...
