Pakistan desperately needs more 'A' tours

Is there a way we fans and the media, journalists can scream into the PCB's ears to start scheduling more A-Tours for the Pakistan A team especially in Nz, Aus, Saf, England, even WI...so that our youngsters start learning the art of batting and bowling in alien conditions.

Its worrisome to see lack of "world-class" talent in the current Pakistan team (led by Sarfaraz), the U-19 and A team.

Heard last year that there was A team tour to Zimbabwe but that never hapened...
It is pathetic, Pakistan need to play atleast 4-5 A team series a year

Actually the title should be we need an A tour, there are no A tours planned. Thenhow will Shehzad and MAlik be given chances. Not in boards priority who have already scheduled that time for more press conferences, personal promotion, PSL and speaking over PSL for the rest of the year and their personal engagement with the Indian board.

Domestic setup going down the ditch, no A tours planned, zero regional cricket development funding.

Pakistan's domestic structure only survives thanks to departments and limited activities of the surviving cricket associations.

The PSL and bringing cricket back to Pakistan are all good goals and Sethi should be applauded for what he has done. NOne of that means that there shouldn't be any A tours. How many were there last year?

England have about 2 or 3 Lions tours per year and will currently be playing in Aus and I think NZ. Pakistan clearly does not have the same resources as the ECB, which is probably the most well resourced cricket board on the planet, but surely the could have home and away series, say with SA which needs it too?

Pak A v SA A in the UAE and then over in SA. Should be easy enough to organise.

People are stating that Sethi is only interested in PSL, India matches and bringing cricket back. They are correct and this just reflects the mentality of the common folks of Pakistan. The layman wont see the small stuff; FC pitches, balls used in domestics and A tours simply do not matter to them. They are easily wooed by the big and flashy. This is seen in our politics as well. Sethi is running the show like a politician. Give the people the big and flashy and stuff like the final at Lahore and Karachi and they will forget the small stuff which doesn't create headlines but in most cases matters a whole lot more.

I tried to find Pak A fixtures on cricinfo but it said there were no matches scheduled last year. Is that true or am I missing something?

I don't think there have been any Pakistan A matches since the tour of Zimbabwe in Sep/Oct 2016. Perhaps I am mistaken.

Shahryar Khan was better in this regard - under his watch there were A tours to England, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. We also had a series in the UAE against the England Lions.

Al though I agree with the notion that PCB need to arrange some U19 and A tours, however in order to do that PCB needs to be financially strong. PSL and potential India tour would solve much of PCB’s financial problems and maybe we might see some A tours.

Financially PCB is currently at the most healthy position it ever been in its entire history.

No! What Pakistan need are selectors who know the basic functioning principles for performance-based metrics and how athelete numbers are interpreted Today.For that they need to have minimum college level degrees and basic understanding of science and how it influences our lives.

The problem right now is that most people in Pakistan accept the narration of 'Kismet mein jo Likha hay etc etc' Unless and until we shed this stupid illogical argument that is not supported by facts relies on make believe imagination - We cannot move forward!

I remember Azhar Ali getting selected for England tour because of him preforming against Australia A in Australia. These tours give a good reality check of players capability to play international cricket.

Australia, India and England aren't fools to invest in these development squads.

That part comes later! They have proper research departments in their domestics which bring a pool of players based on numbers and then from those they select the best ones for these development squads. We have no scientific basis on selecting such a pool and everything is done 'Allah Saharay'!

Well, most teams don't go for more than a year without playing any matches.

NZ A even had a full tour of India last year where they played 5 ODIs and 2 Tests (all unofficial obviously)... Pakistan's last A series was a full year before that, for context.

If no 'A' tours then arrange matches in Pakistan like Under 19 vs Pakistan 'A' or Some Department team vs Pakistan 'A'.

Then arrange some matches with Ireland 'A'. Something is better than nothing.
