"Pakistan did not name itself Bharat because the Bharat word radiates Hindutva" : RSS Chief

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday Pakistan, where ancient Indian civilisation thrived, didn’t call itself Bharat because the word exuded a Hindutva flavour.

Hindutva was the fuel that sustained India whose strength was diversity, the RSS chief said at the Luitporiya Hindu Sammelan, a confluence of Hindus living on the banks of river Brahmaputra in Guwahati.

“Bharat will exist as long as Hindutva, the country’s essence, exists. Ancient Indian civilisations prospered in present day Pakistan, which did not name itself Bharat because the Bharat word radiates Hindutva,” Bhagwat said.

The RSS conclave, said to be its biggest in the Northeast, comes a few weeks ahead of polling in three states of the region. Tripura votes on February 18 and Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27.

The RSS is the ideological parent of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“India forgot its enmity with Pakistan on August 15, 1947 but Pakistan has not,” he said as he went on to explain Hindutva as a philosophy beyond Hinduism.

“India’s uniqueness lies in its diversity. Every Indian has the same feelings despite the diversity. It is India’s tradition to go along with everyone, every community, every religion, and every region. India teaches the world through its behaviour and way of life. The world calls it Hindutva,” he said.

Bhagwat also urged parents in the region, which is home to a large number of tribes and also a considerable Christian population, to be a part of Hindutva.

“Mere sympathising with the Sangh will not do. Mothers have to send their sons to Sangh’s shakhas so that they can learn our vision,” he said.

Apart from Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his ministerial colleagues, the event attracted at least 20 tribal kings, tribal chieftains and religious heads from across “undivided Assam”, which refers to the post-Independence map of the state that included Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram.

Political rivals viewed the “Bhagwat show” as an attempt by the BJP to mobilise support ahead of assembly elections. The BJP is keen on winning these states after Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.

“The RSS programme is nothing but pushing the BJP brand of communal politics,” former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi said.

Why would Pakistan name itself Bharat? :)))

Exactly these politicians are idiots unfortunately the public is even more stupid that they fall for such idiots..

If you hate Pakistan that much the best way to teach them a lesson is to make your country so far ahead in terms of standard of living and development that Pakistanis would want to be like us.. But unfortunately all these leaders from both side talk non sense and only fill their own pockets.. few statements like this and the public thinks they care about India..

TBH Indians and Pakistanis deserve to be poor and living in such a mess..

Can't believe the roots of Hindutva have grown to an extent where people can blindly follow/defend it, for years its going to be haunting Northern India, luckily the word sounds so alien to the Dravidian states , sounding like a different language and will never be accepted down South.

Lol dude. Hindutva has tremendous traction among the upper castes in all southern states except TN. TN politics is dominated by dravidanism which is the ideology of the OBCs, so hidutva won't succeed much there. It's already big in K'taka and the Andhra states (which are pretty staunch to begin with) . Kerala's Upper castes alone don't have the numbers to nmake much of a dent , so hindutva is still not mainstream here.

I read the article twice and still can't work out what that guy is saying. In one sentence he's praising India for it's diversity, in the next, he's saying the diverse people need to toe the line and learn Hindutva in the prescribed manner. Very confusing.

He means India is a diverse place where different religion exists peacefully and flourish, this type of way of living he says is what Hindutva is..

I think RSS easing off the pedal on Hardcore hindutva in certain areas ATM. 2019 is nearing . And as the congress has shown, the lower castes + regional fault-lines can still be consolidated to give a good scare to the BJP next election. SO they'll try to present a more diverse 'face' . But fun fact is a lot of hardcore hindu nationalists (I frequent a lot of such pages/forums) are now hating on Modi because he's going too soft on Hindutva apparently, the same that they've always accused the congress of doing.

Let see how far they stick with it.

Focus on what an RSS leader has to say and create controversy, but ignore what Kerala MLAs say against vaccination or praise North Korea. Because 100% literacy.

What a loon.

Then again what do you expect from a man who dresses like this in this day and age.

He has a point, don't know why the delicate darlings are getting wound up. The partition was not just a partition of land, but religion, culture and history. I don't like Indian cities having Islamic names, and would expect Pakistan to not have their GangaRams and Bharwanis either.

I don't know about Gangarams or Bharwanis, but I'm not a fan of fake Islamic names being given to cities in Pakistan. I prefer Lahore and Rawalpindi to Islamabad. Looks like you and I disagree again, seems I am more of a Hindutva than you. Shame, shame.

That skirt would look better in a plaid pattern. You know, like a Scottish kilt.

Hindutva and Islamist ideology are brothers, that is why I always support the Ghazis like I support the Godses. You are a thali ka baingan, captain Quisling, neither here nor there.

Appears to be a pair of safari shorts, or perhaps old fashioned swimming trunks, and not a skirt. Maybe he's going swimming or on a hunting trip straight after his speech? :trump2

Then he would just need a school tie and he could do speciality videos for....never mind.

There's probably an audience for that. Somewhere.

Reminds me of the joke between the sergeant and soldier in a Scottish regiment:

Sarge: Soldier! Is anything worn under the kilt?
Soldier: No Sir! Nothing is worn. Everything is in perfect working order.

It's in the name my friend, never tried to hide it. The day the first stone is laid on the temple of Ayodhya I will have to bow out and admit defeat to Lord Modi the Great. Until then I can laugh in the knowledge he will turn out to be the biggest thali ka baingan of them all.

Yeah but Kerala's case is diff from Bishops to Imams have a great say there which also converts to votes so the ones with anger on those biases will obviously be biased towards Hindutva.

Islamabad doesn't have an alternative name, it's a new city. What's interesting is that there's a city in Kashmir called Islamabad and it's older than the Pakistani islamabad. It's a connection we share with Kashmir.

Looks like a pleated skirt to me. If it's meant to be shorts, he should ask for his money back.

Here in the US, it is said that Mormon missionaries keep the Dockers pants company in business, because they all wear Dockers khakis. I wonder if these Hindutva types keep skirt tailors in business. It's probably a lucrative contract, having to stitch millions of these... garments.

Hey mister whataboutist , the discussion was on a perceived change in tone of the RSS , why bring North Korea here ? I'm not even a supporter of the CPM to begin with, so put the discussion in the appropriate threads . I've not ignored any of the posts about criticisms of Kerala in the past .

Surprising that extremist remarks by elected MLAs prohibiting vaccination doesnt get the liberals talking, but a valid comment by Shri Mohan Bhagwat Ji draws remarks on his appearance. Is there any wonder why this country is headed towards a civil war.

I know that Islamabad is a new city, I was just saying I prefer the Lahore and Rawalpindi names. You just said yourself that there is already an Islamabad in Kashmir, so why not think of a new name for a new city? This just demonstrates stale thinking of the town planners.

Pakistan strongly condemned and rejected on Saturday a statement made by the Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat, wherein he called for an ‘undoing’ of the Partition.

The Foreign Office, in a statement issued today, stated that Pakistan “completely rejected the highly provocative and irresponsible remarks".

Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar underscored that the RSS chief has publicly indulged in such “delusional thinking and historical revisionism” previously as well.

The spokesperson maintained that Pakistan has “repeatedly highlighted the threat” posed to the regional peace and stability by the “toxic mix of the extremist Hindutva ideology and expansionist foreign policy” being pursued by the ruling RSS-BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) dispensation in India.

“Those belonging to the BJP and its ideological fountainhead RSS would be well advised to refrain from making such provocative and irresponsible statements,” the spokesperson said, adding that the RSS should accept “established realities” and learn to follow the imperatives of peaceful coexistence.

According to the FO, this “dangerous mindset” aimed to “completely marginalise and dispossess the minorities in India”, while posing an existential threat to all neighbours of India.

The world is witness to the systematic usurpation of the rights of minorities, especially Muslims in India, and the unabated repression of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the FO spokesperson stated.

Earlier this week the RSS issued a statement quoting Bhagwat wherein he claimed that the India of 2021 was not the same as that in 1947.

"Partition has happened once, it won't happen again. Those who think that way will face partition themselves," he said.

The RSS chief said if India wanted to contribute to the world, it would need to become "capable", adding, "the only solution to the pain of Partition lies in undoing it."

I believe Quaid Jinnah wanted the name "India" for today's Pakistan but could not have it. For Pak to be named "Bharat" would have been so very weird. Hindutva philosophy is everyone in India is a Hindu even if they say "we are not!". Awesome wisdom:qdkcheeky

Why do they want to do that? They will add 230 million Muslims in their country, doubling the population who they hate :)) Moronic donkeys

They don't in reality otherwise they would have done it by now. China has reclaimed Hong Kong and is aiming to reclaim Taiwan despite the opposition of western superpowers who are determined to oppose them.

What is stopping India from undoing the partition now that the RSS backed BJP is in power? Are they really afraid of Pakistan's military capability?

Its great for domestic consumption, nothing more nothing less.

On one hand, they complain about rising muslim population due to high fertility levels, on the other hand, they want to undo the partition and add 220 million more muslims to the country's population. Something doesn't add up.
