Pakistan down England in thrilling World Cup encounter to end 11-match losing streak

The only reason Wahab done well was because we had runs in the board. He gives away too many runs! In a low scoring game that would be a serious concern!

Some of his 4s were edges, one even went through the first slip hands. I can think of at least 3 4s that could have been wickets and all of a sudden his run column would drop to 70 with even more wickets. That being said he does have a tendency to bowl really bad balls and we can only hope he will have less and less of those going forward.

Heather Knight: England were not at their best but to lose by 14 runs is not the worst thing in the world

It was a really entertaining game and Pakistan played outstandingly well. I think they were coming off the back of 11 losses in ODIs, so the way they played was brilliant.

England’s performance in the field wasn’t quite at the same level as it was against South Africa. There were a couple of dropped catches, a few mis-fields, but for them to not bring their best game and still lose by 14 runs isn’t the worst thing in the world.

I listened to Eoin Morgan’s interview after the game and he said it’s very unlikely any team is going to go unbeaten in the competition although obviously it wasn’t ideal to lose.

But we lost our first game in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 and still finished top after the group stage.

The good thing about the format of the tournament is the best four teams will go through.

All the teams will play each other once, there’s nine games each before those semi-finals, so I don’t think England will be too worried. They’ll learn from things that didn’t quite go so well.

I think the way they fielded in the first match was probably one of their best fielding performances they’ve had, but I guess that’s just cricket - one game you’re on top of the world performing at your best, the next game you don’t have your best performance.

Sometimes you have one of those days in the field where things get a little bit contagious and little things go wrong, but I’m sure England will put it down as ‘one of those days’.

There were a lot of positives as well. It felt like Joe Root and Jos Buttler were going to chase down the target when they were both in, but we lost those wickets and had to re-build.

When you’re chasing that kind of score, you almost can’t have too many things that go wrong. Things have to go perfectly for it to happen and Pakistan took wickets at key times.

They got Root and Buttler just after those two had got their centuries, and bowled well towards the end, but I think England will move on quite quickly and put the result behind them.

That’s the thing about tournament cricket, you’ve always got the next game to focus on and turn your attention to, so I’m sure they will set their sights on Cardiff and Bangladesh now.

I watched the Bangladesh game live at the Oval and it was an awesome game, the support for Bangladesh was amazing and I’m sure it will be quite similar in Cardiff.

In fact, I’m not sure it will feel like a home game for England and this result proves that every game is going to be tough, which might actually take a bit of pressure off of them.

A few people have suggested that England will win it easily, so in a weird way it might actually take the pressure off and make everyone realise that anyone can beat anyone. It’s going to be a very competitive World Cup.

These last two games – England vs Pakistan and South Africa vs Bangladesh - have been brilliant, really competitive, great atmospheres and that’s what you want, isn’t it?

Competitive cricket for people to enjoy and the multi-cultural nature of the country means there will be support for all teams, which is absolutely brilliant.

I don't understand what Morgan means when he says Pakistan fielded a lot better than us. Lol.
Pak dropped more chances so... what's he on about??

My heartiest congrats to Pakistan for defeating hot favourites England yesterday. It gave vibrations of an epic twist in a Hollywood classic.Truly magnificient see the Pakistani spirit embezzle like it did yesterday. It literally looked as though a new life was infused into the Pakistani players. From the depths of despair Pakistan reached the height of glory.Pakistan resembled the great revival of an army which looked dead and buried and then spectacularly ressurected itself from the grave. One almost wrote Pakistan off after being betaken like a club side against outsiders West Indies in the previous game and the result almost looked inevitable here for England to register a thumping victory.Imagine losing 4 games in a trot including 4 against England iteslf which had just finished. It revived memories of some instances when Pakistan rose like a phoenix from the Ashes like in 1992 world cup,2017 ICC trophy and 2009 t-20 world cup.It proves that when the Pakistan spirit blazes at its zenith they have no equals .The David literally vanquished the Goliath yesterday. To me the best ressurection ever in world cup cricket history.

Could Pakistan be considered one of the favourites to win the title like India,England and Australia?

missed the action on PP yesterday...well done to pak...awesome win...with BD winning and Pak doing well, the asian block is challenging big time....competition wide open now...awesome to pak...from an indian fan

England lost around 20-30 runs due to misfields and overthrows. Also dropped Hafeez early on which costs them 60 odd runs aswell.

That is normal for Pakistan, it is not normal for England, in the grand scheme of things our ground fielding was much better over the course of the game mate.
That is not how you analyze the game lol. I don't think there was much difference between the fielding of the two teams. Pakistan infact dropped more catches than England

The difference was our fifth bowler going for only 53 runs in 10 overs, and getting 2 wickets. Even the genius of Buttler was left too much to do by the end.

Pakistan vs England. Pakistan wins. This is what is going to happen in the finals as well. You heard it here first. Coming from a team India fan.

I am not trying to analyse the game i was just reinforcing the point Eoin Morgan made, i agree with you there wasn't much difference in the fielding, but that says it all, when you cannot differentiate between a world class fielding side and Pakistan then rightly so i think its fair to make the assumption Pakistan were slightly better at fielding.
