Pakistan fall to 12-run defeat against England in high-scoring 2nd ODI

Some people will find faults in Sarf even when he plays a gem of an innings.

All the hard work was undone when Sarfraz could not get one boundary in the Plunkett over. His lack of power hitting against pacer pose a serious threat to Pakistan chances in the world cup. He is playing as a power hitters at 6 and you cannot hide against pacers batting at 6 or 7. Bif liability.

Pakistan could have easily won this game. They should keep their heads high. England, despite having a weak bowling line up just somehow manage to do the job

Since Aus ODI series last two matches we have been ourselves on losing side when the match gets close

Well liabilities like him and Malik is the reason why Pak won't do well in the upcoming wc. Pakistan did all the hard work and our kaptaan could not finish the game.
 
Got to reduce the number of weak links in batting.
Sarfraz faheem should be the first two to go

Faheem may turn out to be a dud, all I'm saying is he has potential, based on what I saw in the PSL.

He has yet to do it in an ODI.

Imad, however, he no business in the late order. He's losing us matches.
 
A reality check for England by Pakistan.

Their bowling is weak and they desperately need someone like Jofra Archer. If a team like Pakistan can get this close to this huge target. No wonder teams like India, New Zealand and Australia will be capable of chasing a total.

Nonetheless an excellent batting effort by Pakistan.
 
We lost but we made 361 against the number one ranked side. Bowling should have done better but the batting showed alot of promise. Well played boys!

Well the pitch was a cement phata and on top of that we played Yasir Shah.
If M Amir and Shadab comes back in the side I wouldn't worry too much. And also today was Buttler day.

That's pretty much the lesson. Batting is stronger than we thought, and bowling is weaker than we thought.
 
Well fought.Really Happy.Even We Lost .12 Runs Doesn't matter In these type of Matches .Just Weak points in bowling lineup nees to be fixed especially Faheem .
 
No point in having a go at the captain, he is playing at his peak. Which of course is still not good enough. Imad and Faheem should have done a little bit better

Because Sarfraz "I'm a finished now" was clueless against pacers. Should have been an easy win. The bowling was not even that great. One of those games that I will keep thinking how could we lost this?

Fakhar deserves better than this and you can't use the fluke excuse today because in fact he was very unlucky with the way he got out.

I think we have lost around 20 suchmatches from winning positions in last couple of years.
So are u really tht surprised

This was there for taking but he is just not good enough. Mediocre captaincy from Morgan made his knock good otherwise he could not do much against pacers which is why we lost. He looked hopeless when all we needed was a boundary and couple of one's and twos.
 
Great effort by the lads here no doubt about it. Very rare for our batting line up to perform so well even if conditions were batting friendly. Had Amir, Shoaib and Hafeez been playing we probably would have won the match. Our last five overs were the reason we lost. We go again:klopp
 
I think sarfraz should drop himself after the WC. And Imam is going to go anyway once chachu is out.
Faheem should be sent back to playing tape ball
 
Great chase from Pakistan. The last few overs by Pakistani bowlers were the difference at the end. Asif Ali has to be in Pakistan World Cup squad to improve Pakistan chances.
 
We need to understand Sarfraz is not a hitter. He don't have a power game. He can play run a ball knock. He can't win u watches single handedly. He need to bat at 4. No 5, 6&7 should be those who can hit sixes. From this line up only Fakhar and Asif Ali looks to be the power hitter and guys like Babar, Haris and Sarfraz plays the run a ball inning. Pakistan desperatley need Hafeez at six to provide the much needed balance and power.

Sorry it wasnt gem of an innings. It would have been a gem if his SR WAs 190 or 200 which is what was required. I think we have kept too many low expectations to consodee 40 off 32 as a gem
 
At least we should commend on today's performance. After a long time i saw pakistan crossing 350 while chasing.
 
Sarfi should have come higher than haris. Haris cannot play at an SR of 100. Ita just not his game. Sarfi should back himself at no 5

Problem with this forum people who hardly got picked for their gully teams can come on here and act as experts. Sarf played exactly what innings demanded, Pak fell short because Asif and Imad got out an inopportune times.


Also bigger culprit is nephew who was aiming to stats pad with an innings of 35(44)

Chachu is going nowhere and neither is Bhateeja, in fact I am hoping and wagering that Bhateeja will be made captain of all three formats after the world cup and Sarfaraz will be duly dropped...
 
In all the successful 350 plus chases by India , top 3 clicked for India. Kohli scored 3 centuries India's 3 successful 350 plus chases. You need someone from the top that has to bat deep
 
Sarfraz is a really bad limited overs batsman. For the World Cup is replace yasir with Amir and faheem with Malik

At the end overs you need to bat with a SR of 200 not 100 or 130. He batted well no doubt but the situation demanded a lot more. Asid did what he did. Yws i agree imad getting out at the wrong time and faheem is a waste man

I felt that Sarfraz and Haris Sohail stage where were batted. Needed to accelerate more as we all knee there is really no one that can finish the game after Imad was out.

I dont think you know anything about this game called cricket

Sarfaraz was set out there unlike other batsmen coming in and should have accelerated when the time came but he is too useless
 
Prob is people see that if tou have a SR OF 100 OR 120 then thats enough and we are talking about end 0vers where 27 is required from 12 balls

There's a difference between chasing 360 in India and chasing 370 in England.
 
This game really tells you about the SR ability of our batsman in the following order.

Asif Ali
Fakhar Zaman
Imad Wasim
Sarfraz Ahmed
Babar Azam
Haris Sohail
Imam Ul Haq
 
A very good performance with the bat. Never thought we could get close but we did. Well done especially after losing 2 quickones in the chase.
Everyone having a go at Sarfaraz will be tearing their hair out if we had no solidity after being a couple of wickets down and then were all out for 270 etc.

A few poor shots from the boys, the caught and bowled lads will be mightily annoyed, Zammam is a wonderful player and I don't see the point of Sohail.

I like Imad as a solid power hitter but poor show today.
I see a reason to include 1 of Hafeez or Malik, would rather have none of them but cannot fathom why they are still there.

The bowlers bowled quite poorly at the death, and as Pakistan fans we have to be very disappointed with our death bowling. So many poor lengths and poor wides and full.
WHERE ARE THE YORKERS???

Also a shout to Butler and Morgan. England definite favourites with Jofra coming in too.
I will add that Pakistan really miss not being in the IPL as players a travesty for fans and them. Really improves hitting and bowling in pressure.

I think babar and fakhar should open the innings and maybe bring asif ali as 1 down on flat decks...there is no way with haris and imam being in the squad can pak score 350 plus on flat decks

I am just wondering how MALIK and HAFEEZ both will play in the final eleven in WC. And if they don't then how will they feel being benched as they are senior pros. Will they do a YOUNUS KHAN ?

This is a good team have Haris Malik and Hafeez share the 5th bowling and Wahab in place of Amir brings a good middle overs bowling option with Shadab.

Both Sarfraz and Imam were the reasons we lost. Sarfraz just couldnt find a boundary in the final 3 overs yet alone hit a single six in this match but again his skill is not there. Imam is not good enough for world cricket he still needs time to work on strike rotation and finding gaps, we need to be brave and drop him and bring in Babar Azam to open like T20s, will allow us to play Asif Ali. Faheem and Imad are definitely not reliable allrounders much rather Hafeez and Malik.

Here, [MENTION=138254]Syed1[/MENTION] is somewhat right. Sarfraz did actually score and at a good SR.

I'm surprised Imad Wasim fans are having a go at Sarf, when Imad is exactly the same thing.

Both cannot get you over the line, as they lack the boundary hitting shots! Both are poor finishers and will cost us more games.
