Pakistan fall to 12-run defeat against England in high-scoring 2nd ODI

We most likely will not chase this down but do some people on this forum have any idea of cricket ? Why are we having knee -jerk reactions when we are 6 runs of 2 overs ? It’s a 50 over innings. Other teams would also be a bit circumspect for the few overs . To many unrealistic haters on them forum who have no knowledge of the game

They want the batsmen to go bang bang from ball one as they are chasing 373 not 173 as mentioned by waleed88 .

As much as England is such a powerful enviable batting line up their bowling has been crap. One of the Worst ODI bowling unit in the last 2 years worse than Bangladesh, Srilanka, Afghanistan.

With Archer in the mix and Wood fit along with Plunkett, Rashid, Moen and Stokes they look decent

Why is this thread so quiet now? did pp really already give up on Pakistan after 2 overs? this fan base worries me. Props to all those who stayed tuned in the game though

Anything less than a 100 on the board without a loss of any wicket will be in for criticism. The target is such this wouldve been a great start for any other chase. But we are chasing close to 400 runs and this team struggles with chasing even 300. So criticism until we reach a 100 will be valid if not at a good rate.

We have an good chance to win this if our batsman will play with brains.Dots should be kept to minimum.

That is why they are crying for Archer. On an average they go at 5.75. Worst by any team (including minnows) in the last 2 years. Recent thrashing in West Indies also made the call louder.

Moeen Ali should give us some juicy balls to hit.

He needs to remember he is Pakistani first and grew up watching our Cricket

Spinners have been causing problems for all our batsmen for sometime now, if we can play spin well batting we have is decent, bowling is the problem now.

True

Haha, it gets on the nerves on some Sarfi fans when there is support for Imam.

I feel exactly the same, but don't worry the humiliation of this cult who blindly follow him, will be on display for everyone to see once we've crashed out from the group stage.

This has been the old story of Pakistan. If the target is 350+, then we can score upto 300. Had the target been only 300, we would have succumbed at 250.

Usually top teams can accelerate from the start and going upto 10 an over. If you haven't seen Martin Guptill or David Warner attack from the front then you haven't seen much chases above 300. Having said that this has been very decent for Pakistans standards. Run rate is still going up.

Replace Faheem with Haris Rauf and Yasir with Zafar and our bowling looks way more threathning. Rauf couldve picked up a wicket or two with the new ball and bowl yorkers at the death and Zafar for in the middle overs.

Look, Fakhar has lots of limitations but guy isn’t the worst problem for PAK. If he is in middle, he’ll score quickly- may be ugly but effective. If he can’t, he’ll leave without wasting too many balls. His downfall often is due to desperation of firing the issue with limited ability, but guy is an honest trier - need to be backed.

Well said - couldn't agree more.

England's bowling has been very ordinary, a decent batting attack can actually Chase this down. I don't see any threat in these bowlers.

England has amazing batting line up. But their bowling is so out-dated. Not even close to modern-day limited over bowling. Mix up, using crease effectively. change up of lengths.

Agreed. Dont think Inzi and Micki will think anything like that.

You see the light.

This is a 340 pitch.. eng bowlers looking as innocuous as pakistan’s did...

Good little start here. As I've often said, as good as England are their bowling is a weak link, meaning if Pakistan can get 120-50 around the 20th overs, the bowlers will be without ideas, and Morgan hates those types of situations.

Don't lose wickets, play rashid well and push ahead.

England wont mind singles. They look like a traditional batting outfit that looks to contain then get wicket.
Anything less than 8 an over is loss to Pakistan every over they face.
We should be 80 right now.

Which means sooner or later Pakistan should be going quicker than this every over.

WC will lose its charm if wickets are like this. Atleast have some balance between bat and ball.

Nottingham & Southampton are always like this. Rose Bowl is a new venue hence not much history, but Trentbridge had been the best batting track in world in a sunny day without much wind. Some of the highest scores in game has been scored at Notts over 150 years. But, that’s a totally different place on gloomy day with wind blowing from river end. Southampton has always not one face though.

Still to early to say but where are all the Fakhar and Imam haters now?

Both are in their 30s, don’t think they have proved anyone wrong. If scoring a 30 is an achievement then Pakistan shouldn’t be playing international cricket.
