Pakistan fall to 12-run defeat against England in high-scoring 2nd ODI

We never used our limited resources properly. When Sharjeel was there, we didnt select Fakhar alongside him while he was scoring runs in domestics. We had Azhar with him and now we have Imam with Fakhar.

Now we are doing the same thing with our spinners, we have some good ones but we dont use them in internationals.

Old fashioned philosophy that you must pair an aggressive opener with a stabiliser. Nowadays teams play two attacking openers in LOIs.

I think England will prepare true batting surface in the WC , they will try and out bat there opposition and get 350 runs in all games.

Or may be Umar Akmal. But yes, it’s really tough to proceed even to think that your starting ask is 7.78!!!

Yeah, amazes me to this day how SA chased down 430+ against Aus in like 2005. Back then going at 8.6 from the word go must have been like going at 10+

Babar is doing okay . . Both players cant hit out . . You dont want to be 280/7 in the 40th over . . You have to take the game deep and still be into it . . And still you may only have a 15% chance of winning . . Just what happens when you bowl as poorly as we did . . If both batsman go now, you have 0% . . So pak just needs to get to around 260/4 in the 40th over. . And hope for a blinder. . No other way to chase this target . .

The more I see, I am convinced that FZ should bat at 3 when spinners are on. He might not last long enough against new ball to cash on later, while Babar genuinely struggles against spin at the start of innings.

Need Baber to up the ante a little bit as you can see fakhr is trying to have a big hit every over, need some support though. Come on Baber help him!

Adil spinning it big whereas Yasir couldnt get any turn. :/

Playing Yasir is a dumb decision. He is poor bowler in this format , also cannot bat , player like Nawaz , Raza hassan etc could have added more depth to batting , which you need when you are going to chase 350 totals.

Nawaz is awful

Raza Hasan is finished

Ideally Mohammad Irfan (leggie) should have been selected. He can spin the ball both ways like Adil.

If we only get to 260 by 40 overs we better still be 1 down

Yes you can even see it through the county matches.
So many innings between 300 and 350 runs.

Although as the tournament progresses and if the weather does heat up we’ll start to see lower scores.

Babar needs to open. If he can do it in T20s why not in ODIs? Bababr and Abid as openers and Fakhar one down.

If I’m not mistaken England have no say in pitch conditions it’s all up to ICC, in these tournaments.

Really need some young blood in the PCB set up. Inzi was young but was never the most thinking mind.

Rashid looking so good! And bowling nice and slow . . Yasir just doesnt learn . . Even shadab doesnt do it as often as I'd like . . You may get hit, but at least you're giving yourself a shot at taking wickets

Imam isn’t leaving so no point discussing that. Haris at 4 and Sarfaraz at 5, Imad 7 which makes it a nice left right combo all through.

Nasser getting phainty from Key in the commentary box

Roy hit the camera and camera man. Pathetic to have a cameraman there

How can the security guards watch the cricket? Nasir speaking rubbish

England fielder just potentially destroyed expensive cameraman equipment..

The positive thing is looks like Fakhar has regained his form.

Clutch batsman.

They have too, if they want to avoid being hit. A cricket ball travelling that fast could kill someone.

Triple your score from 20 overs with 1 down, it gives a very close figure - I think this game will go to last few overs. Recently, WI once reached like 370-5 in 46 overs chasing 400+, before collapsing, therefore it’s not impossible against England. 16 years back from India chased 320+ in a final, so PAK should keep high hope and must not allow England little patches of tight period.

They should sit side-on to the action not with their back turned otherwise they might get hurt by a fielder or the ball.

RR is over 8 and we dont have any reliable powerhitter who can go berserk.
We are doing well but still not going to be easy to win.

Sky commentary is more laid back. Refreshing change from verbal diarrhoea of likes of Ramiz or other commies screaming DLF Maximum every few balls.

They were gushing over every boundary England scored.

That's a valid point but they need a proper view of the people.

It's like that in all sporting events

The way to completely screw up such targets is if you start going gung ho . . The only way to do it is to take the game deep . . Rotate strike brilliantly and get a boundary every couple of overs . . And hope for a great innings at the bottom . . No othe way. . If babar and fakhar habe a brain fade now . . That's game over

They should have hired Bazid Khan instead of Waqar. I with my rubbish english feel embarrased when Waqar speaks, he tries too hard. Bazid has improved alot and has knowledge of pakistani players.

Babar needs to up the anti, you cant expect Fakhar to keep doing this till the end

They're not playing according to requirements. With this rate they'll be 175 or 180 by the end of 30 overs. Which will leave 200 runs to chase in the last 20 overs, which will be impossible.

They need to be at 200 by the end of 30 overs.

I like Babar but again showing why he's slightly overrated on PP.

What's up with Babar over the year. He looks a beast in T20s and completely different in ODIs now.

Babar needs to talk to Fakhar.. he getting impatient.. partially Babar's fault
