So that's around 8-9 Tests a year which is not bad ideally would want to have around 10-11 per year

I feel bad for you guys having only 10-11 tests a year.

We have 15+ a year and its still not enough. I want more, and less mickey mouse cricket.

This is trickle-down in action. We get the leftovers.

Surely better than nothing.

Probably a bit more will do but that's fine I reckon. :afridi

rubbish stuff. such a small number of tests.
cant they fit in a test series or two from time to time whenever there is a gap?

This does not look good. There are a total of 77 tests scheduled over 10 years. And 12 of those are against India which are uncertain.

And only 3 tests against South Africa in 10 years? You got to be kidding me.

Outside powers will get all the blame but the PCB clearly don't care that much about tests, it was the PCB who just took away one of our tests in october so they could get more shorter form cricket.

So from suddenly playing SA too much, we go to barely playing them at all?
And with India and the political situation, I won't be surprised if we end up not playing half the matches with them.

Probably would arrange for more series during the gaps

How come we are playing england and australia so much becuase we never play againsts them. I don't really believe this.

You guy are playing the kiwis in 2 tests and then 5 ashes tests so no way pak are touring that year.

We have a habit of putting in quick series so our FTP is not exactly accurate especially with srilanka.

Pakistan tour 6 times to NZ. Is that what it is saying for test series or is that the number of tests?

I am assuming this does not include other competitions such as the ODI/T20 WCs and Asia Cup etc.

I agree with you. Just 3 tests against SA is atrocious.

Something must be wrong - 38 series can't produce 77 Tests only (Theoretically can, 2 Tests series only). Also 8 series in 9 years with NZ means a series in almost every year, can't be. I think the number of Tests makes sense, not the No. of series. However, if PAK is allocated 77 Tests in 8/9 years, it's alarming. Surely all the series 'll not take place & if PCB sticks to these numbers, my hunch is PAK to play just about 60 Tests in next decade.

If PCB has any will to stop cricket being erased from PAK in future generation, they should immediately start lobbying for 4 & 5 Tests Series, whenever possible. My hunch is, in next 9 years, there 'll be at best 4 AUS-PAK, ENG-PAK, NZ-PAK series with 3 series with the other 6 Nations each, at maximum. Which means, at best 29-30 series, that too not considering any sorts of "calamity". PCB 'll make sure that there are as many 2 Tests formalities, two-third of these series 'll produce about 40 Tests, & rest 10 may be another 30; so maximum I see is 70 Tests in best case scenario. Already PAK-SAF, PAK-AUS has become a 2 Test burden for PCB, so I 'll not be surprised if in future PAK never play a 3 Test Series (Yes, 3 Test, not 4 or 5, THREE) at home.

It's a pathetic FTP for PAK, mark my word PATHETIC. Pakistanis can blame everybody from BCCI, ICC, BCB to CIA, RAW, Mosad, Taleban, Harkat, Jaise, Shiv Sena ... whoever, but the biggest throne in PAK Cricket flesh is itself within. When you have a board like PCB, I don't think anyone needs to do anything to finish Cricket in PAK?

If I were in charge, I would have definitely pushed for 5 Test series against IND & ENG, 4 with AUS & SAF, 3 with WI, NZ & SRL, 2 with ZIM & BD whenever possible. So that every year, at least the Test number reaches double digit. OK, end of dream.

Hmm around 8.5 Tests per year, which is just OK...

Gonna play quite a lot of our cricket against teams like England, Australia, and India, which is good to see. Only 3 Tests against South Africa seems pathetic. After continuously playing them just recently, we're only gonna play them for 3 Tests in all these years. Hopefully, we can organize something with them in the middle.

The only way this can happen is if NZ come to Pak/UAE separately for Tests and ODIs/T20 tours. Then 4 home and away test series and 13 tests are feasible.

77 Tests is nothing, only 8.5 tests a year. Considering 17 are against India, expect us to play only 60 tests in the next 9 years. That's 6.7 tests a year, we're playing more than that this year alone. Hopefully PCB can arrange more tours in between, especially with South Africa, 3 tests is nothing. Should've been at least 9. With ODIs, we're playing around 16 per year, including India series, this doesn't include World cup and Asia cup clashes though, so not such a big concern.

New FTP

Seems it is going to be announced soon - wonder who the winners and losers of the recent shake up will be. Speculation we will be playing India home and away.

By way of comparison, this was the state of play in late 2011 when the last FTP was announced (just checked my old post on the equivalent thread) though some of the tours never took place or were postponed:

Pakistan 2015 FTP schedule

Can anyone share the schedule in 2015 according to the latest FTP of Pakistan?

FTPsof Pak on ICC official website shows a series against Bangladesh in Bang mid April including 2 tests, then a series against SL in SL including 3 tests, then home series against Eng including 3 tests and finally against INdia in Dec including 2 tests....

Was also finding FTP of pak on net and found that on ICC official website after downloading a PDF file...

Pcbs attitude has led us to this day. We used to trade odis for tests and now it has come down to this.

How can you expect any future pakistan batsman to even score 7000 runs.

I feel bad for you guys having only 10-11 tests a year.

We have 15+ a year and its still not enough. I want more, and less mickey mouse cricket.

Please explain? what is this mickey mouse, Chickey mouse cricket? I tried googling this but nothing to be found.

It's okay, let the English play the meaningless Ashes and continuously get whitewashed whilst we play our mickey mouse cricket. :P

Pakistan will get more tests than reflected. A lot of it is about bilateral cricket. The top 3 will get boring, I suspect.

Only three test, one series with SA in 8 years? - That's pretty bad. We should build relationship with SA, we both have stronger cricket culture that can benefit both. Why we are so far from each other?? - Maybe we both feel no money in playing each other, which is disappointing but it is what it is!!

I would like to see 10-14 test a year and cut down 10-15 ODIs/T20. Pakistan can only improve if they play more test. Playing more can build strong batting lineup, there is no short cut to that. In order to get healthy, cut down junk (LOIs) and increase whole meal(Test)!!

WHAT IS MICKEY MOUSE cricket? I know we play test, odi and T20. Mickey Mouse is a cricket format?

Yes, some say its the most important. The Indians are quite good at it. The English, not so much.

So from suddenly playing SA too much, we go to barely playing them at all?
And with India and the political situation, I won't be surprised if we end up not playing half the matches with them.

so that will result in more games against sa, sri lanka and bangla

It's Mickey Mouse cricket because no one cares about the results of it.

Just like no one cares what Mickey Mouse does as long as he provides entertainment.

It's mean to entertain.

I find this is the only form of cricket that I don't care if Pakistan wins or loses.

Even a 50 over hurts more than 20 overs of Mousey cricket.

*meant*

And because of lack of editing options we can always clear it up in the next post.

Nothing else scheduled at the moment but the FTP only goes up until the World Cup in June which is being hosted by England

SCHEDULED TESTS - 3

According to the last FTP we were going to play 39 tests from 2015 to 2018. The number is now 43! But remains to be seen how many will actually be played.

^^ Now it's an acid Test for PCB - if they are willing easily can change these series to accommodate more Tests

215
Apr Bang (a) 2 tests - 3 Tests
Jun Sri Lanka (a) 3 tests
Oct England (h) 3 tests - 3 or add 1 more
Dec India (h) 2 tests - 3/4 Tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 10, can be 13/14

2016
Jul England (a) 4 tests
Oct West Indies (h) 2 tests - 3 Tests
Nov New Zealand (a) 2 tests - 3 Tests
Dec Australia (a) 3 tests - 4 Tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 11, can be 14 Tests

Mar West Indies (a) 4 tests
Jul Bangladesh (a) 2 tests - 3 Tests
Oct Sri Lanka (h) 3 tests
Nov India (a) 3 tests - 4/5 Tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 12, can be 14/15 Tests

2018
May England (a) 2 tests - (Pathetic) - 3 Tests
Aug Zimbabwe (a) 2 tests
Nov New Zealand (h) 3 tests
Dec South Africa (a) 3 tests - 4 Tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 10, can be 12 tests.

On top of that, I think, it's possible to schedule Test series with SAF, WI & NZ in between as well. However, I 'll be surprised to see PAK fulfilling the schedule. PCB would love to replace few unnecessary Tests for T20. It's not by chance that top 3 T20 wicket takers are from PAK.

Jul England (a) 4 tests
Oct West Indies (h) 2 tests
Nov New Zealand (a) 2 tests
Dec Australia (a) 3 tests

2016 should be a belter. Both England and Australia away, huge test for the players.

Yes, looking forward to that but my concern about the England tour in particular is that it will be our first test series in challenging conditions (i.e. Eng, Aus, NZ, and SA) since the SA tour in 2013 and we would not have played any tests at all in the 6 months prior to that series.

Would love to see 2 or 3 Pakistani batsmen such as say Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq have a long county stint next season as a part of the preparation for the tour but can't really see that happening.

Interesting to compare the old vs the new. 43 to 39 from 2015 to 2018 is an improvement.

Australia - was 3 tests on the away series in 2016 and remains the same.

Bangladesh was 4 tests over 2 series. Stays the same bar both series are now away which is an improvement.

England was 9 tests over 3 series. No change - only shame is its only 2 tests in early summer in 2018.

India - were no tests now 5 over 2 series. Shamefully our home series will only comprise 2 tests.

New Zealand - was 6 tests over 2 tours. Now 5 tests over 2 tours with the tour of NZ in 2015/16 being put back a year and reduced by 1 test which is a shame.

South Africa - was 3 tests away and remains the same. Will be visiting South Africa after 6 years which is too long a gap.

Sri Lanka - was 6 tests over 2 series and remains the same except that our 2016 tour of SL has been brought back a year to 2015. We should have stuck with touring Zimbabwe in 2015 and Sri Lanka in 2016 so that we have a competitive tour before going to England as we will now go to England not having played test cricket for many months let alone against a good team. Glad there is at least one major country we play with a lot but will mean we will have played SL in 2009 (twice), 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015!!!!

West Indies - was 4 tests over 2 series but now 6 tests over 2 series. Our away series will now comprise 4 tests but that's because our last scheduled tour to Windies was cancelled in favour of a ODI series.

Zimbabwe - was 4 tests over two away series. Next years' tour has been scrapped which is a shame as the last tour was competitive.

Overall not too bad IF it is followed but sick of these 2 test series which should be restricted to Zimbabwe and Bangladesh until they come up to scratch. Would like to have seen our scheduled 2 test series v Eng, Ind and WI increased to 3 test series and for another series against Zimbabwe which would have taken it to 48 tests over 4 years which would be ideal.

Also, does seem strange that we will be playing so little against South Africa - these 6 year gaps are too long.

PCB will schedule something against SA in that gap. I have a good feeling about it.

PCB will schedule something against SA in that gap. I have a good feeling about it.

Yes, I'd like to see that too, ideally in 2016 just before we tour England. Overall the FTP isn't too bad but we don't seem to playing enough "home" series

2015
Apr Bang (a) 2 tests
Jun Sri Lanka (a) 3 tests
Oct England (h) 3 tests
Dec India (h) 2 tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 10 (5 home, 5 away)

2016
Jul England (a) 4 tests
Oct West Indies (h) 2 tests
Nov New Zealand (a) 2 tests
Dec Australia (a) 3 tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 11 (2 home, 9 away)

2017
Mar West Indies (a) 4 tests
Jul Bangladesh (a) 2 tests
Oct Sri Lanka (h) 3 tests
Nov India (a) 3 tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 12 (3 home, 9 away)

2018
May England (a) 2 tests
Aug Zimbabwe (a) 2 tests
Nov New Zealand (h) 3 tests
Dec South Africa (a) 3 tests

SCHEDULED TESTS - 10 (3 home, 7 away)

Overall 13 at home and 30 away which is a huge imbalance. Would like to see South Africa make a 3 test tour of the UAE and for the West Indies and India series to be increased to 3 tests which would address the imbalance. Also, all our home series seem to be Oct-Dec and we seem to have gaps in Jan-Mar when the weather in the UAE is ideal for cricket so we should really be playing 2 home series a year - one in some time between Jan-Mar and another sometime between Oct-Dec.

Thought it would be interesting to see how many tests each country is scheduled to play between 2015-2018.

India - 53 tests
Australia - 51
England - 51
Sri Lanka - 48
South Africa - 46
Pakistan - 43
West Indies - 37
New Zealand - 34
Bangladesh - 29
Zimbabwe - 17

Why are some teams playing more than the other?

Make everyone play each other the same amount like in every other sport. Stupid backwards cricket, still stuck in the 70s.

Money. The so-called Big 3 carved everything up so they play each other more often. By contrast in the 70s and 80s tours were more regular and every country would tour one another every 4 years or so.

pakistan to tour BD in April 2015. Confirmed by cricinfo BD corrospondent on twitter.

Pakistan Schedule, Experts reply

What are the major odi events/series expected this year for pakistan. I have been looking for it on internet, could not find. it.

Secondly, what would be the first big series/tournament where Amir will be able to play, considering his end of ban?

Total 10 tests, 2 each against India and Bangladesh and 3 each against Srilanka and England.

Total 18 odis.5 each against India,Srilanka and England and 3 against Bangladesh.

Total 4 T20 matches,1 each against Bangladesh and England and 2 against Srilanka.

Aamir's ban is ending in september this year and our home series with England is in October so he will be available for selection for that series.

Apart from 2017 a pretty decent schedule for pakistan!

The number of concern is not the number of tours. It's the number of matches on those tours. Almost all of India's series are of 5 ODIs. Pakistan, on the other hand, has many series of 3 ODIs. Similarly, Pakistan have many 2 Test series. As a result, Pakistan plays about 12 tests and 20 ODIs less than India over a period of 4 years. PCB should really lobby to get maximum number of series converted into 3 Tests and 5 ODIs.

Yeah the PCB is going to lobby for more 3 test series....

Are you guys serious? it was your board that just took a test match of us so they could squeeze a few more bucks when we toured the uae but you think your board actually cares about playing more test cricket?

Azhar Ali and Asad will be gone by the time we tour Australia next.

No they shouldn't, it is scheduled to be held in November 2019 which is less than 3 years away, so remaining injury free, the duo should be in the team for that series.

Is that confirmed? The new schedule goes till 2019 WC

I am going off the above quoted post - #26 which has the schedule upto 2019.

Are we going to BD for two tests in Feb ? Or it got cancelled ?

We have absolutely nothing in tests in 2017. Very sad.

4 Tests in WI; unless the PCB have announced the Bangladesh tour has been cancelled, we should assume it is going ahead.

I agree, hopefully there are more Tests in 2017 - Pakistan has been the most entertaining when it's played Test Cricket.

Pakistan may end up playing only 8 Test matches in 2017

Including the ongoing match pakistan will only get to play 8 test matches in the year 2017. 4 test matches against west indies and 3 against srilanka and I wonder that WICB and PCB will come to an agreement of playing 3 test match series. According to FTP there are series against bangladesh and india but we all know that those are not going to happen. So a quiet year is coming as far as test cricket goes.

Not so bad since the CT will be contested this year. We should try to invite one of the minnows to Pakistan for two test matches to give Misbah and Younis a proper farewell and reignite some passion into the younger guys.

Since this will be a transitional year, it is good that we're facing relatively weak opponents. Let's see if we can make it through the season undefeated and if Babar, Sami, Amir and Shah can all improve their stock.
