BEIJING - Pakistan has formally been invited to participate in the second China International Import Expo scheduled to be held at Shanghai in early November this year. According to details, the expo would provide a good chance to our manufacturers and producers to showcase their products at the expo in a bid to enhance exports to China . The Chinese government had granted the status of “Guest of honour” to Pakistan to ensure the provision of all possible facilities and benefits to the Pakistani business community. According to the organizers, more than 500 companies from all over the world have confirmed participation in the expo.

Well China cant isolate what they already own.... HAHA Stuff you Indians :P

You can't own something which tells you to re-negotiate more favourable terms or else. Nor something which invites a third country into what indians considered a 2 country master/slave relationship.

Accept it, you're nowhere near powerful or more importantly, competent enough to isolate Pakistan. I'd personally concentrate on removing cows from trainlines rather than busy myself with who Pakistan trades with, you'd think that would be the most pressing matter

how can Pakistan be invited if they are isolated?

Pakistan is more or less a colony of China, so nobody is really surprised on this front. It'll be interesting to see if they block sanctions on JEM at the UN again though.

JEM is already banned in Pakistan I think, so why would Chinese veto anything which was banned already.

And yes the interesting thing will be that if Americans choose a library in Kabul to talk with Taliban in Afghanistan to isolate Pakistan.

Just because China are helping out pakistan pakistan has become china's colony. Lol at your logic.

If We are the colony where does that leave you guys that ape everything in the West. Your people don't want to speak your own language because they have such an inferiority complex. Just watch any interview with any Indian( celebrity or Politician) and you will see them desperate to speak English, even though the question is in Hindi.

SO will the protectors of world wide muslims talk about the uyghur muslims? Or are we only concerned for our kashmiri muslims?

Like India was a colony for 400 years?

China is a friend. Yes they are the dominant partner but in no way are we a colony.

250 million + people in India do not speak Hindi. However, English is spoken and comprehended by the educated in all states, and that is why it is widely spoken.

I am not talking about widely spoken, it's even more widely spoken ( as a proportion) by the low countries and in Scandinavian countries but you don't see their Politicians desperate to speak in English unless the interview is in English. The Indians for all their bravado, mentally still live under British rule. If you don't believe me, watch any interview they do.

You are missing the point. India is not a homogenous country like the Scandanivan countries, China, Japan, Arab countries etc. are to a great extent. As a result, there is no one local language that is spoken in all parts of the country.

Hindi is one of the two official languages, but it does not have the same status as Urdu does in Pakistan, where the language is spoken and understood in nearly every part of the country.

As a result, English has become the common language in India. The only part of your post that is correct is that it is because of British influence, but it has nothing to do with inferiority complex.

Sure there must be plenty of isolated cases of individuals who feel embarrassed speaking Hindi just like quite a few people in Pakistan these days prefer English, but by and large, it is a necessity in India.

But surely not all those celebrities being interviewed, and responding in English, are targeting the educated audiences (who speak Hindi anyway!) with their responses / message? Much of their target audiences are the average men and woman in the street, the vast majority of whom are not fluent in English. There's a strong whiff of an inferiority complex when Indians / Pakistanis based in their home countries resort to speaking in English to their own countrymen in order to demonstrate that they are 'educated'.

If you were right, whole interviews would be done in English. The interview starts in Hindi and then suddenly the whole conversation is in English. This is an inferiority complex brought about colonial hangover. What is the chances of anyone speaking English over Hindi. If they speak one they are likely to speak both, or a higher proportion will speak Hindi than English. English is a way to show your fellow countrymen that you are gorified. I have never seen a people so desperate to be some other people.

A point well made, it happens with PK's but not as much but not as much.

There are several states in India where the common man has a better grasp of English than Hindi. For example, in South India, even the highly educated folks do not speak a word of Hindi.

There's one or two on this forum. I'm thinking of some of those who are constantly attacking their own country and countrymen, think of themselves as somehow superior because their families have accumulated wealth over the years (very likely via means that they lambast others about) and sent them to public schools and colleges with colonial english names.

That is a different issue. If an interview is conducted in Hindi, it should be in Hindi only. I am talking about the celebrities and mainly the politicians who prefer to address the public in English.

If you want your word to reach the ears in all parts of India, English is the only medium.

As I said earlier, surely there must be isolated examples of inferiority complex. It is mainly prevalent in Bollywood which is aimed at Hindi speaking audience anyway.

Pakistani showbiz stars have followed suit as well in the last few years. Most of the young stars prefer English over Urdu these days.

So you've traveled extensively in South India and are therefore speaking from experiences gained as a result? Would certainly explain you constant anti-Pakistan and pro-Indian bias.

Speaking in English is not a problem but it's when they do it. Watch any interview with any Ind celebs ( political, Film or Cricket) and you will see them desperate to show off their English skills when the interview starts off in Hindi. When the guy was talking about Colonial takeovers, the Indians are more gorafied than even your average white.

I understand Urdu but I am embarrassed that I don't have the confidence to speak it, as it's a beautiful language. i speak Pothwari fluently and I speak it proudly. English is my professional language but I don't see it as superior or for that inferior, but I agree there is Def a colonial hangover amongst many people. I live and work with English people and like all peoples they have good and bad points but I don't see them as my superiors.

It is called general knowledge. However, I did meet South Indians from my time in the U.S.

He is right about this one. I am from South India and I understand 4 words in Hindi and there are millions like me. Only people who worked in North India understand Hindi.

One battle at a time. At least these protectors don't go around stealing off the poor Muslims like you friends do. Your thugs go around stealing from the helpless to build mansions in Dubai, these guys do what they can.

Well that explains it then. You meeting a few Indians from southern India during your time in the USA has given you a clear insight vis-a-vis the lingua franca in the southern Indian states. even though you've not been within a thousand miles of the region.

Which is fine but that wasn't my point. Read my original point about colonial inferiority of the Indian elite and to be fair most of ours.

Your ignorance surprises me. The thought that you are unaware of the fact that even educated people in South India cannot speak Hindi is quite disturbing. This is very common general knowledge, and you are free to confirm with South Indians if you do not trust me.

Confirmed. You'll be fine with Hindi in the likes of Bangalore and Hyderabad, but go into Karnataka or Andhra proper and it's as good as useless. Unless you meet Muslims of course, in which case you can have a conversation (Urdu).

The less said about Tamil Nadu and even the capital Chennai when it comes to the Hindi stakes, the better.

I don't know what Mamoon is on about, my best friends in UK were Tamils and never spoke a word in Hindi and were amazed at me for thinking they can speak Hindi. One of them said a lot of Tamils were very hostile to Modi's attempt to introduce Hindi when their language is Tamil.

I did try and learn Tamil, but only got as far as learning how to say 'hello' and 'dog' :))

Yep. Mamoon is in the right though. Yossarian is the one who claims that South Indians and Hindi are fair game.

I claimed no such thing. I merely questioned the logic of some of the assertions being made. So please refrain from making false accusations. I queried the implied assertion that English was almost universally spoken in southern India when common sense tells one that just because the average men and women (ie including villagers, farmers, manual labourers et al, and not just the educated classes) don't speak Hindi doesn't mean they all speak English fluently. In fact it's highly likely that those who don't speak Hindi are also unlikely to be fluent in English.

When someone stoops so low as to resort to calling another poster ignorant then you know they've lost the argument.

English is the language of business. Why do you think the Chinese never got the early start into the call center and the IT business. They always had the engineering skills but couldn't speak English or even if they did, nobody could understand them. So don't doubt India's competence in English. There are reports that indicate that there are more English speakers in India than in England or even the USA:))

India's isolating Pak seems to have had the exact opposite effect. IK visiting so many countries and now China inviting us after the Saudi prince has just left. Please isolate us even more, thanks. Of course our friendship with China is hitting India hard.

China and Saudi were always Pakistan's bosom buddies. Nothing to do with Imran Khan.

This is first tour of king saudi in long long time also the second highest ivestment in pak history so it is big sucess from imran to revive relation with Sa which was going through lean patch

Cool, but it's still Saudi with their Wahabi strings attached.

Bring in Shinzo Abe or Angela Merkel and then we're talking.

When someone stoops so low as to resort to calling another poster ignorant then you know they've lost the argument.

There is no argument in the first place. I am stating a fact which you are attempting to refute, but you have not provided any contrarian evidence to justify your position, other than the assumption than an Indian who cannot speak Hindi is unlikely to be able to speak English either, which is simply not true for the over 250 million people that reside in South India.

Yep. Mamoon is in the right though. Yossarian is the one who claims that South Indians and Hindi are fair game.

Pakpak has me on his ignore list, but his obsession continues. He cannot stop talking about me, but since he cannot see my posts, he at times fails to understand who is saying what, such as confusing my stance with Yossarian's in this thread.

China and Pak have a 20 billion trade with Chinese exports worth 18 bil. It's a massive trade deficit to Pak. The least the Chinese could do is to invite a few carpet and shawl makers to a trade expo. Don't read too much into it.

Bro may be this is true but to me it is more like a makeup story. I used to live in BWP for around 2 years recently. It's a very small city hardly 1/10th of Karachi. The city is surrounded by sand desert of cholistan, agricultural land and dry river sutlej at one end. So it is more like a rural city. The reason for all this preface is to tell you that in rural culture you can't hide the secrets. In fact things become more louder Bcz myths used to be added with them. If there would have such thing, it won't get unnoticed & training center of 15 acre is a big thing.

He is improving ties with Pak and Saudi. We are also talking to Russia and Iran as well. Pak is too important a country to be isolated.
