What's new

Pakistan has played 17 consecutive Test matches without a draw

Good trend, results or prospects of results makes fans more inclined to follow a test.

Also note that only one game is an innings victory. Shows that most matches have not been totally one-sided as well

I am not so sure.

We received a whooping when we lost the Old Trafford test (could easily have been a huge innings defeat had England chosen to enforce the follow on) whilst the 2-0 defeat to NZ was very one sided as we never really had the advantage at any point in the series.

The Sydney loss to Australia was very one sided too but by then our team has lost all its morale.

Draws are going to be rare in this era as batsmen have lost the technique and patience to bat long. You should see how many tests are ending in 3-4 days nowdays and i'm sure the number would be way more than in previous decades.

23 tests by Australia between Oct 1999 to Aug 2001, won 20, lost 3

22 tests by Australia between Dec 2001 to Oct 2003, won 19, lost 3

What an incredible team that was, between 1999 to 2004, they played 65 tests, won 50, lost 8! 90% of those 65 tests had results!

Took a really special Dravid Laxman partnership to end their 16 game win streak. The most amazing Test ever played:

1) India batted all of day 4 to score 335 runs for the loss of zero wickets.

2) India scoring 17.1 runs per wicket in the first innings and 93.8 runs per wicket in the second innings

3) Australia with a first innings lead of 274 going on to lose by 171.

The context (the end of the longest Tests winning streak) makes this the greatest Test ever played. It also had a hat-trick by Bhaji in it!

Sign of a mentally weak team. Capable of being ruthless when the sun is out, but doesn't have the guts to fight it out when the going gets tough. About 3-4 of those losses could have been converted into draws had we not lost our heads and panicked. In fact, our very last draw - the Abu Dhabi Test vs England in 2015 - is as good as a defeat because we bolted the match on day 5 and England required 99 to chase down in the last hour. Only bad light saved us on that day.

This is where I feel India are ahead of us; they have drawn quite a few matches away from home. Although we did better in England, they managed to draw two Tests in Australia due to their superior batting prowess and the fact that Ashwin can bowl economical spells even when he is not able to take wickets. Our batsmen are world renowned chokers under pressure and Yasir cannot control the run rate unless there are wickets on offer.

We can't save Test matches and that is a travesty. Pakistan is the most collapse-prone batting side by a country mile. We have worse collapses than Zimbabwe.

Because of pathetic batting line up

Pakistan lost 3 tests which they should have drawn easily and another which they should have won.

Lots of debate can be done over these results. Pakistan can do better in most of the games. Have they improve their game after some easy lost matches.

I think we are going to break that record of playing most matches without a draw ..fingers crossed.

Australia played 23 and bangladesh 21 ( unfortunately all of them were losses).

One of my fav match. Good to see you remember this test match and listed the details regarding that match.

I don't think you remember this much information about any pyjama league match though. :sanga

Likes of Azhar, Sarfraz and Shafiq need to improve their 4th innings record.

The last time I can remember us saving a Test on the final day was when YK and Misbah did it vs SA in 2010.

Not all T20's or ODI's are pyjama league matches, I remember everything about India v Pak 2007 world cup final and Pak v Aus 2010 semi final....

In a similar way not all test matches are great, a lot of rubbish is also played in that format

Very exciting brand of Cricket. I think Pakistan has played 20+ consecutive matches in Aus and SA without a draw too !

Do not put words in my mouth. Who called ODI's pyjama league matches here? I am talking about these domestic T20 leagues only.

I do not consider any of the international matches as Pyjama or meaningless matches. May be you are confusing me with those who only like test matches and discard ODI's or international T20's.My only dislike is for these glamourous pyjama leagues.

Ok, fair enough if its only for leagues, nobody takes that seriously, its pop corn cricket but helps the 2nd n 3rd tier cricketers financially
