It is a wishful thinking to look for Kohli or Maxwel type of players for our team, so let's not just get there..We just need a "PROPER" batsmen who can improvise and be able to find gaps and score when they are settled. It is so painfully obvious to see how limited our batmen are even when they have faced over 50 balls. Don't expect Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz, Azhar, Shafiq to do wonders later in the innings once they are past 50. Notice how they can easily get into a shell when the opposing team setup a field according to their strengths. They wait and rely on short or bad balls to put it away. Sharjeel gets away with this because of his sheer power and that is okay. You need one or two serious sloggers who could blast bowlers but they are not the answers but rather a role players that you need in this modern era of ODI.
Pick any specialist Batsmen from even Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and notice how easily they are able to pace their innings, improvise and score at will when they are settled considering they are not anywhere near the level of Kohli. We don't have any batsmen of that sort! Such a basic requirement is missing from the selection! I'm not asking for Miadad, Inzimam just a proper specialist batsman who can take the innings to the next level once they have their eyes set on..Is it too much to ask?
'im intentionally excluding babar because he is very young but he still need to learn the art of pacing the innings otherwise he could very well be the next hafeez or Malik..
