I think this is what sucks that Haris had the easy opposition to deal with like SL and Bangladesh. A player shouldn't be thrown away like trash if they don't perform for one series, Azhar Ali had freaking 27 innings with nothing to show for it.
I hope Fawad kicks butt!!!! Keep faith in Allah and you can achieve anything. The one good plus is is that he's fit as a fiddle.

That Asad Shafiq, who goes missing under a modicum of pressure, has played Test cricket for 10 years, while Fawad Alam had 3 Tests way back in 2009 (and by no means failed) but was benched for the next 11 years despite possessing one of the best FC record in the history of Pakistan cricket tells you everything about our disgusting selection system of likes and dislikes.

Last 4 innings, but not last 4 international innings. I doubt he'll have a run like that here. I heard even Kamran Akmal would set the domestics on fire.
Anyhow, the way Fawad has been treated is nothing short of disgraceful throughout his career. Only been given three Test matches with his last one eleven years ago.
I mean if he wasn't good enough in all those years, what's the point in bringing an oldie like Fawad in now, Pak should be looking to the future, already have two failing seniors in Azhar and Shafiq taking up valuable batting slots and Yasir one of the bowling slots.
Misbah will be like I was the one who gave him a chance credit goes to me lol

And that's only cos Haris opted out. Misbah even brought him for the Bangla or SL Test recently - but it was all for show as he only warmed the bench.
More than having or not having clue, I feel the guy is extremely rigid, proud and stubborn - he doesn't want to listen or learn either. It can't happen that no one contested his squad and there are knowledgeable people around him, when it comes to Test tours in UK. I believe it's his more famous & powerful distant cousin (another Niazi) who has given unconditional backing hence Misbah is the ultimate king of PCT and he'll run it like that till he himself steps down (Mani & Wasim Khan might be the Haroon al Rashid and Jafar of PCB, but PCT and affairs related to it is under Misbah's command - he might not get sacked ever).
Saif Badar's example might not be the last one - next could be Khusdil & Haider. I think, I wrote it few years back - one by one every aggressive, naturally attacking batsmen were thrown out from PAK cricket under Misbah's captaincy - Umar, Maqsood, Jamshed.... while Haris, Fakhar, Sharjeel were delayed by few years for stone wallers - you probably can relate that now.

The England-bound Pakistani cricketers and officials will be tested for coronavirus twice in a space of three days before boarding a chartered flight on June 28.
The first Test will be taken on Monday and the second on Wednesday when the cricketers assemble in Lahore for departure, according to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“The first Test will be taken in players’ and officials’ respective cities and areas of residence. The players will assemble in Lahore on Wednesday and the Board has arranged for a bio-secure floor for them in a five-star hotel where they will stay in isolation before taking the chartered flight,” one source said.
The source said the second Test will be taken in Lahore and if any player or official tests positive for COVID-19, he will not travel to England.
“That is why the board has announced a reserve set of players for the tour.”
The PCB is expected to sign an MoU with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday, outlining the terms and conditions for the tour which will last until September.
Head coach and chief selector, Misbah-ul-Haq has announced a 29-member squad for the tour.

I'd even put Haider Ali in the same bucket - although he won't have the same pressure as Fawad, being a debutant
Really poor management to not be thinking and planing ahead to build up your bench strength - particularly when you know how weak your batting is. Asad and Shan are overrated and average performers at best, Azhar is a embarrassment every time he takes guard, Abid has played 3 matches.
Even Imam should have been given some games against the weaker SL or BD to build him up for tougher tours.

My sentiment exactly bro. I don't seem to understand how some players get multiple chances but if one player fails he gets booted next series. Many guys have been victim of the system like Asim Kamal, Tabish Khan, Fawad Alam and probably even Saad Ali as well as Saud Shakeel.
I mean even Fakhar Zaman is nothing but a one hit wonder along with Hasan Ali after one bit of success they've become duds.
Could be due to fakhar performing straight away which then they take into consideration that hes worth keeping for long run same with hassan started off brilliantly.

We had a lovely period between 2015 till 2019, but the guy unfortunately is back. He doesn't just have an affect on this team, its the cricketers he doesn't select who he affects.
Babar Azam was ready to debut around 2013/2014 times. Instead Misbah persisted with the likes of Asad Shafiq in ODI cricket.
He's flopped now in my eyes as has Hassan. They are both replaceable in odi and t20. Sharjeel or Sohail Akhtar are some good options for t20. I mean with Sharjeel if it's his day you can get a fast start or with Sohail you get a grinding batsman who won't give anything away cheaply.
Bowling wise we have tons now in Hasnain, Musa, Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen, Amer Yamin. So definitely no lack in the bowling dept.

Babar’s birth date is October 1994, he was debuted in May 2015, when he was almost 21. And Test in October 2015. Going by the gap between quality, he was actually ready for ODI debut probably in CT of 2013 and Test at least by 2014. Can you recall the PAK batting brilliance of 2013 CT - a 16 years old Babar Azam would have to improved that.
I actually admire Misbah, he was the custodian of PAK cricket at its worst time & handled it well; but guy is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE for youngsters - he’ll take 20% discount in quality for a 35 years old over 23 years old and he has a fascination for stroke-less wonders. The worst guy to handle the CS job - PCB multiplied it by making him had coach as well. It’s like IG Police is also the Chief Justice - he’ll arrest people, file case and then give judgement as well.
I'm saying if Fawad, Imam and Haider, were going to be selected for a crucial and difficult tour like England - then why weren't they given some games against the weaker SL and BD at home? That's how you build up your bench strength

Couldn't agree more, out of the top 6 batsmen he's likely to play, only Babar is under thirty.
And if it wasn't for him being head and shoulders better than everyone else, he'd been booted as well.
There might have been a case for such an old team but one plays like a tailender on away tours, one's here for his yearly free holiday and another been brought back after 11 years out in the cold.

Its way different with Babar, he's a product of whatever limited grass roots system PCB has and was groomed from when he was only 13/14 years old. He's the Golden Child.

Cant say they are out as of yet. They require 2 week quarantine, lets see what is the result of others. If possible the departure date should mover forward a week or so so that infected players can completed their quarantines.
Just get the tour over sooner rather than later. The weather here in the UK is already grim so wanna get cracking with it unless you want rained out games.
Replace Haider Ali with say Hurraira.
Replace Shadab with say Umar Amin (can bowl as well and underrated batsman)
Replacement for Haris looks like Amir as inevitable.
There's unlikely to be any room to move the actual fixtures, delaying the flight a week would just mean nearly 5 weeks preparation in the country rather than nearly 6.
Which was exactly my point bro, wouldn't risk taking guys who have recently recovered from covid on the tour. There is still a recovery period for this stuff.

That’s what he’s saying, that they’re good at scouting talent. They are also decent at grooming, and have groomed the likes of Rauf, Fakhar, Dilbar and even gave Shaheen confidence during his initially bad debut season in T20s.
LQ is horrible at winning but have given more products to the national team than Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan

The tour is going to happen at it's given time. They can fly the covid positive people later. What's more, since you can get reinfected with covid that soon, it shouldn't be a logistic nightmare to arrange another flight later on.
Tbh I dont mind loahre failing in psl and other leagues as long as they produce for pakistan
It will be nightmare bexouse money coming out of both board pockets and pakistan dont have money to spend

Pass bro. I think any of those answers will be available in the conference call that Wasim Khan had with the Skysports team, it's available on YouTube. Honestly, it's best to be safe than sorry there are some residual effects from Covid so instead of risking infecting others it's best to just leave them in Pakistan to self-isolate and recover. I would honestly opt for replacements or see how you do with the current guys you have. InshAllah the rest test negative.

There are tours that can be deemed "essential" - for example tours to Pakistan to restore cricket in the country or tours to Sri Lanka after Tsunami.
This one is just about craving normalcy and returning to cricket. But playing with a sub-par team with top players missing or partly fit will just lead to poor cricket and also poor results for Pakistan.
Just don't see the urgency amidst the pandemic with barely recovered players.

Gotta think outside the box, this is Pakistan's fault for not trying their bench strength before i.e. not giving the likes of Fawad, Saad Ali, Zafar Gohar, Usman Salhuddin, Tabish Khan and others a proper chance. If your so called "main" players collapse or are unable to participate then where is your contingency plans in case they knock off? Use this as a learning experience and experiment if everything goes ahead else cancel the tour i say.

You may be right but not many countries have strong second elevens or replacements. Pakistan's first eleven is stuck at 7th in rankings at the moment. Let's say a Babar or a Shaheen get injured, it's curtains.

Why rizwan ?
Look India give new boys chances all the time. They constantly mix it up which is why they've been so successful, the fact is Pakistan as a team will go nowhere if they cave to other players i.e. like Malik and Hafeez. May i ask why are Shafiq and Azhar so special that they get multiple chances? There's lots i can say but honestly this is Pakistan's fault.

Not sure my friend. Someone needs to compile a list of new caps given to players for each country over the last 5 years (keep in mind Pakistan plays far fewer tests) and I do not think Pakistan will lag other countries.
One can argue Pakistan's new players are given a shorter rope than others - but even on that, I'd love to see stats. Players who are obviously talented - like Babar Azam - got given a much longer rope because they had a cast iron case. Again, Pakistan plays far fewer tests than Eng/Aus/Ind so the tendency to take risks might be curtailed.

Babar Shaheen exempted, the next player who might get on reserves is Naseem. Other than that Abid, Shan, Azhar, Shafiq, wouldn’t get onto the Australian English South African or Indian reserves.
Abbas and Yasir would have been dropped by now.

I think Naseem if remains fit can be pretty decent in next couple of years. I hope to see Haider and maybe couple of other young batsmen coming into test side.
I think other teams are also to an extent struggling with openers Burns, Markram, Burbs etc havent exactly set the world on fire either. Azhar used to be pretty good but you are right has been pedestrian in overseas conditions lately. Shafiq has been mediocre as well, just couldn’t evolve from that no 5,6 position despite having a solid overall technique.
Yasir in overseas conditions has been totally a horror show, should have been dropped atleast from SENA tours couple of years ago.
Abbas had a shoulder injury but was getting close to hitting his usual lengths in last couple of series. Will see how he goes here but I wont say he cant be in the reserves of any, still averages 20 with the ball which is really good.
