Kamran Akmal's recent outburst was an example of where a player who is not happy prematurely goes to the media and whines about what happened instead of approaching the management first to discuss their issues.

Ironically, Mohammad Akram ended up spilling the beans that he would had been paid the same amount as any other players. Which meant that PSL teams do pay players that are directly made by the team owners and possibly doesnt come under the PSL pay process.

This isn't the first time when a player went to the media to present their case first.

We have the infamous Zulqarnain Haider case. Afridi whenever he had some issue.

We have even seen Sarfraz Ahmad post on social media from time to time his reservations on how he got treated.

Hasan Ali recently made very strong statements against a journalist infront of the media where he had mentioned that PCB can't do anything against you but we can by not answering your questions.

No matter who is right or wrong, what i find interesting is that more than half of these cases are always as such that their is no communication between to parties and most of these issues could be resolved if they are dealt with directly instead of going to the media to expose everything.

Why does this happen? Should an HR dept be made that cricketers can go to with any such issue?

You are confusing things Major.

The issue is that PSL management took a decision to change category for Kamran.

Kamran is NOT an employee of PCB, he is under no contractual obligation to the PCB, therefore he has no reason to contact PCB HR who are meant to take care of their employees.

It's only a problem if centrally contracted cricketers complain on social media prior to having discussions behind closed doors with the team management. Apart from unprofessional folks such as Hafeez or Younis, doubt many recent centrally contracted Pakistan cricketers have had this issue. The PCB has clamped down on such behaviour over the past few years as players get fined heavily.

But as a domestic crixket he probably does get paid through pcb cheques thus some authority should be governing him i guess.

Even if those laws or authority dont extend to psl still its very unprofessional of him to go running to social media first and making a fool out of himself

Absolutely - unprofessional and self-defeating.

I've had players come to me asking me to write to PCB on their behalf - complaining about issues or incidents. I tend not to get involved as it should be a matter between the player and team management and PCB.

If I am interviewing a player and they bring an issue up, with specific details, only then will I include it and bring it to the public eye.

Sometimes though players are scared to approach the issue for fear of reprisals.
