We hope and pray for Nawaz Sharif's surgery to be successful, and him to emerge strong and healthy, in sha Allah.

Yes, as much as I dislike the man, wouldn't wish ill upon anyone. Good luck to him and I hope all goes well.

I do wonder why the prime minister of Pakistan is not treated at home?

Millions of his countrymen would be asking the same - are our health facilities this bad?

They couldn't build a decent Hospital for themselves, what will they do for the average guy?

I hope everything goes smoothly and GOD help him to recover fast.

Don't want to derail the thread but in 3 decades of in and out the govt in federal and punjab they didn't built a single decent hospital to treat Nawaz/Shehbaz and other Elite? If i am not wrong Imran also went to UK for treatment a couple of times but i remember him being treated in Shaukat Khanum multiple times.

All politics aside, I wish PM NS a successful heart surgery and a speedy recovery.

All politics aside, I wish PM NS a successful heart surgery and a speedy recovery.

Asking for decent health facilities for the ordinary man is not politics.

Hope he gets well.

Comes back and tries to make our hospitals better.

Hope all runs smoothly without any complications emerging in between.

I pray that his surgery goes well.

May Allah grant him healthy life & prompt recovery. Aameen.

Why doesnt he get treated in pakistan? What kind of message is this to the poor people of pakistan who cant even have access to basic health problems.

This shows how poor the whole system really is.

Wishing the Sher a speedy recovery.

Just out of interest, who is in charge whilst Sharif goes under the knife? Deputy prime minister, speaker of the house, President's rule?

A close friend of my father, the doctor who will be undertaking Nawaz Sharif's operation, asked Nawaz to let him and his team undertake his operation, as Nawaz has tomophobia. The Lion of Pakistan is scared of surgical procedures. At least the doctor undertaking the operation is a Pakistani.

His daughter's father-in-law. He is also the Finance Minister.

General Azhar Kiyani has also flown to uk .. he will be there too at time of surgery so getting getting treated by pak doc in uk makes no sense ... he should have been operated here at least to show faith in our hospitals

Wish him a speedy recovery. Whether we agree with his politics or not but he is also a husband, a father and grand father.

Apart from being a 3rd world nation full of corruption from the bottom up, with virtually no household not involved in one way or another (even if it's as minor as paying a traffic policeman a few rupees to look the other way, or by-passing the electric meter to get free electricity, or doing favours for a school teacher in return for good grades for their child), Pakistanis don't want to pay taxes. And then they complain about not having the roads, education, health infrastructure similar to that of the West, which has been built up over many decades, or even centuries.

You are right but when they do, the money is stolen by the ruling elite. The question should more about what they get for they pay now?

Of course the rich are also corrupt, just like those at the bottom and at every rung of the society. But don't delude yourself into thinking that even if all the rich became honest overnight, Pakistan will suddenly get world class hospitals that don't charge fees in every town and village in the country, with modern roads, bridges and railways linking every village and town magically sprouting out of the ground, every child going to schools and universities equipped with the latest equipment that unlimited amounts of money could buy, and Pakistan having to import cheap labour from the West! Because going by the naivety of some posters on this forum, that is exactly what many of them think will happen.

Just to add: Every Pakistani blames everyone else for the endemic corruption - but no one looks at their own home, own families or friends.

This.

But no, Imran has a magic wand who will fix everything magically if he becomes PM.

Nothing will happen no matter who leads us because we are a despicable nation.

Seems to be getting good luck messages from non Pakistani cricketers :)

Good points.

But

You have to start somewhere. If we keep wailing on the pretext that "yeh qaum hi bori hai" then nothing will change and we will continue to regress.

Which is why Pakistanis need to make good voting decisions and elect people not on the back of their last names/bridari but on the basis of their performance and promises. Those not holding true to their word should be voted out of office.

It takes times to change, I agree, but you suddenly feel the wave. Under the current democracy, there has never been such a feeling.

Agreed that even if the elite become honest not all the problems will be solved but your saying that nothing can change for the better in any circumstance and as pessimistic as I am, I cannot agree. If that was the case then there is no point to do anything positive.

A fish rots from the head down, that's lot more appropriate in this case. People break laws because they know they can get away with it. Even people in the West will start breaking law when/if they know they can get away with it. It helps to have an honest person on the top who will at least keep major players honest which significantly reduces corruption. If your leader thinks, there is one set of rules for him/his family/his relatives and friends and other set of rules for all others then you can't blame ANYONE.

Wrong. Those at the top are simply a reflection of the society that put them at the top. If the soil is good, crops will grow and thrive, otherwise weeds will take over. I'm not excusing those at the top for all their corruption and thieving. But it seems to be a Pakistani trait to keep on blaming everybody under the sun except themselves and their own family members who are all part and parcel of the endemic corruption.

How about all those complaining starting with themselves, their own family members, their own friends and neighbours?
e.g. By not paying, or receiving, a single rupee or any favours as bribes, even for minor things as traffic violations and policemen looking the other way, tax evasion, avoiding customs fees at airports, paying/receiving bribes for breaking building regs, same for good grades, or entry to good schools, for school kids, making/buying/selling fake goods, ..... the list is endless.

^^^ Everyone in Pakistan claims to be a Saint or an Angel. It's the others that are all baddies! With 200 million all claiming to be Saints and Angels, who's doing all this corruption that is endemic in Pakistani society and everybody is complaining about?

With due respect, you are ABSOLUTELY WRONG. Yes those at the top are reflection of society but give me one example where society changed through self realisation? So are we waiting for our society to realise that breaking traffic rules is wrong or are we going to enforce laws on them to behave? Self realisation and education is ongoing process which will eventually make a difference but nothing is going to change without proper implementation of rules and regulations (same rule for all). At the pace we are going, self realisation and education alone will take a few centuries for us to even come on par with developed countries.

Anyway, it's different topic so let's stick to Mr Sharif's health. Let's hope he gets better to face the justice.

So are we going to wait for people to VOLUNTARILY give up corrupt practices? :)

It is really hard to feel any sympathy for him or to wish him anything good.

Ahmed Shehzad is like that guy that everyone hates in the class who always tries to be in the good books of the class teacher with a fake personality.

90%+ claim to be Muslims. To an impartial outside observer, either Islam condones corrupt practices, or hypocrisy goes hand in hand with being a Muslim - Otherwise how do you explain a nation, and most of it's people, that claims to follow a religion that abhors and forbids such practices, and yet is amongst the most corrupt on the planet? So yes, people can voluntarily give up corrupt practices, just as the majority will voluntarily stop eating during the day in the coming month of Ramadan.

PM Nawaz makes pre-surgery phonecall to Modi

Wow, never knew they were such good friends. :therethere

Why would Nawaz call Modi before his surgery?

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

The guy who receives surgery gets the calls?

I agree. This man's policies have resulted in indirect deaths and misery for countless people. Only way I am wishing him well is in the hope that he is alive to face the justice one day which he deserves.

So far Gayle, Gibbs, Dean Jones, Lara and KP have wished him. The videos are available on twitter/facebook.

Looking for PSL contracts or to join Noon League :misbah

Just kidding, great gesture by these players. Looks like now they care about us

Has David Cameron wished him well yet?

Not seen a video!!!

what the heck is wrong with Shehzad

KP and Gayle must be regretting the day they were nice with Shehzad and became 'friends'

First he put them to tweeting for his return. Atleast that was cricket

Now they're wishing for a guy's recovery who they prolly dont even know about

I admire your honesty. Tbh I found it strange that people like Imran and Bill Bhutto went out their way to wish the Sher good luck etc. If you genuinely think the PM is corrupt, an election rigger, a man who robs the poor, a man whose policies cause millions of Pakistanis to live harsh lives etc (these are their views not mine, I quite like Sharif but then I don't have to live under his rule) then why bother wishing him a long and healthy life. Sure don't wish ill upon him re the surgery but just stay silent.

Some people will say 'politics goes out the window when it comes to matters of life and death' but does it really? If say a Bashar Al-Assad or Benjamin Netanyahu was undergoing surgery would folks still wish them good luck? I'm not comparing these leaders with Sharif but surely a line has to be drawn somewhere.

Maybe they are hoping that he will survive do he can stand trial?

As much as i have enjoyed the drama, we know that not a single thing will change. I had the chance to talk some desi taxi drivers yesterday and the jahliyaat on offer showed that even people that have been exposed to a low level education fall for the same crap as the uneducated. I live in hope and every day i feel differently, on some days i feel genuine change can be made by good leadership but all that optimism dissipates when i meet PK`s on the ground.

So Maryam Safdar spoke to most channels reps yesterday and told them great stories about how much Mian sb is worried about the nation from hospital and emotional stories about father-daughter love.
Apparently our honourable Prime Minister went to UK for surgery because he didn't want to disturb the awaam in Pakistan hospitals with his protocol.....WOW never knew our PM had soooo much love for his nation, I need tissues now :(

Now from where all these reports are coming that when he was examined by doctors in jail they found no surgical scar of open heart surgery?

Apparently it was done in front of a magistrate. Oh dear where does that leave the Noora supporters? King caught blatantly lying!

Nawaz has been looting the country for 20 years at least! I am so very glad to hear of his struggles in Adiala prison. Apparently, the toilet is not flushing well and the food is not up to his high standards. Would not have occurred to him how millions of people in the country go without basic necessities every day. As Shahid Masood says "yeh Allah ki pakad mein ageye hein". Revenge will not be complete until all his properties and money has been seized then returned to the people leading to this man being forced to work in a store or restaurant to earn his living. This is the profession a man of his intelligence deserves after all he has no educational qualifications yet is a billionaire!

When we originally pointed this out as a scam old Mamoon was going crazy. He said it was PTI conspiracy theories, and like on everything else, he has been proven wrong.

Same establishment backed media was reporting that Mrs. Nawaz is not critical and this is all a fabrication before they got owned.

These reports belong in the garbage. Absolutely disgusting and pathetic.

How do we know that Imran Khan didn’t fall from his platform in 2013 deliberately to gain sympathy?

That’s how ridiculous this line of thinking is.

Are you saying you still believe Sharif had open heart surgery?

Yes, I don’t believe the pro-establishment media.

Then it shouldn't be an issue for NS and his team to refute these lies? A photo of his scar or a confirmation from the hospital the surgery took place. Yet we have seen nothing?

Are you saying you still believe Sharif had open heart surgery?

Because like all Nooras his world would cave in if he believed the pathetic family had lied so blatantly. Especially when you are part of the Noora cult, where Hajj is done at Lahore airport.

I agree, they should.
