Others team can keep their rankings and Pakistan can keep the Cup. I don't mind even if we are 8th...

This is going to be a fun year. The tussle between Pakistan-Bangladesh-Srilanka will be going on for a while. WI, the less said, the better.

I do. If we are 8th it means, we are ranked so because of losing a ton of ODI games against all oppositions, and only beating Afghanistan and WI somewhat consistently. Ranking aren't pulled out of thin air, they are a *result* of a team's recent performance. I want Pakistan to be ranked among the top four, because that'd mean that we have good ODI squad winning a sizable portion of the matches. For that to happen, the team have to improve a lot, and not just in batting.

Hopefully this tournament is a hint of things to come, and the ODI team continue to get better.

What's the cutoff date for WC qualifications?

We have qualified. WI lost far too many points after defeats to Afg. They cannot possibly overhaul us unless they arrange back to back series with top 2-3 teams and beat them 5-0.

Pakistan climbs one spot in ICC ODI rankings on back of Champions Trophy wins

Pakistan have climbed one spot to number 7 in the latest ICC Men's One Day International (ODI) rankings on the back of a series of stunning victories against England, Sri Lanka and South Africa in the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan has now reached the final of the tournament, where they will play against the winner of the second semi-final of the tournament between India and Bangladesh.

Pakistan, which a couple of years ago was struggling to maintain its spot in the tournament ─ which features top eight sides ─ now rests above Sri Lanka in the rankings, with a score of 93 ─ the same as the Sri Lankan team ─ in fewer matches.

South Africa tops the rankings, updated on Wednesday, with Australia and India on its heels. England is ranked at number 4 while New Zealand and Bangladesh occupy the 5th and 6th spots.

Hassan Ali, Pakistan's only bowler to appear in Top 20 bowler rankings for ODIs is expected to jump a few spots following an update in individual players' rankings which were last updated on June 12.

How will winning the CT reflect on Pakistan's rankings?

there was a post from mig that detailed the scenario

if we win against india, we will end up at 95.
if we win against bangla, we will have 94.

if we lose, we end up at 92.

that is from memory so i am not sure. maybe search the post.

So if we win and Bangla lise that means number 6 ranking for pak

Only Looking at the way pakistan has played in this tournament they deserve to be in the top four. I think BD needs more time before they van be consistently rate d above pakistan. NO is way too inconsistent when they tour. Sri Lanka will also be a good team by 2019. I think around 2019 world cup ranked ngs will be

India/Australia
Australia /india
SA
England /Pakistan
Pakistan/England
Sri Lanka
New Zealand /BD
WI

Sri Lanka and Pakistan seem to be on the up. BD are still a decent ODI team, although not performing as consistently as they did in 2015. Expecting a pretty close battle for the 6th, 7th and 8th spots between these 3 teams over the next few years. And WI are just a horrible, horrible team in ODIs. Won't be surprised if Afghanistan overtake them in a couple of years time. NZ seem to be on the decline too, and will probably lose on their away tours.

Yes even if BD qualify and we win we will still overtake them.

Had BD won against ind they might have got more point than Pak might have get by beating BD in final. And Pak were already behind BD, so no way Pak could have overtake BD. But now if they win final they will overtake or back to 8.

sir Ban would have been in 94 points and pakistan on 96 if pak beat them in final according to icc predictor

If India beat Pakistan on sunday then India will become the no. 1 ranked team in the world and Pakistan will move back to no. 8 :yk2

and If Pakistan beat India, Pakistan will move to No.6 and India will move to No.3 InshAllah :srt

Bd is currently on 94. If they had won against India they might have get 97. Pak 93. So after the final Pak cant get 4 point by beating Bd.

No.. I wasn't firing from the hip. MIG posted a full layout of each scenario with each semi-finalist winning or losing. Even if BD had beaten India and lost to Pakistan, Pakistan would be 6th and BD 7th.

I don't think NZ is going anywhere, their cricketing infrastructure is too good.
Long term I see cricket becoming very Asian dominated. Afghanistan is on the rise and just drew a series with WI. Pakistan appears to have a bright future ahead, although there is still much work to be done. India will keep being India. Bangladesh has built up its domestic structure and will continue to get better and Sri Lanka seems to be improving.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand-they may be gone from full membership in less than 5 years if yesterday is any indication. Scotland embarrassed them.
Australia and England appear to only care about the Ashes. Sure, they're good now and they have lots of money, but I think by 2025 they will be the only two non-Asian sides left in the top 10, unless South Africa can continue to do well.

So even if WI wins all the games against India, they won't make it to #8 position. Hence, it is confirmed, they would have to qualify for the WC2019
