His captaincy was good throughout the tournament.

There is a difference between batting and captaincy.

They won cause of his captaincy. His bowling changes and field settings were great.

If you win a low scoring match, than its because of the captaincy.

Shahid Aziz bowled well in the semis but not well in the final, but yet his team and bowlers defended the score

I hope they don't. These kids should focus on cricket and nothing else. Just because someone is a govt's bootlicker, doesn't mean everyone should become same. Let sports bridge gaps, rather than making it political agendas.

BD always shows up in these competitions and U19 tournaments. Their players don't go on to translate that talent in senior cricket.

10 out if 10 to Irfan for captaincy

Broke the rhythm of the BD batters in the last over by talking to the bowler for a long time

If it were Shaheen, Babar or Rizwan...they would have not broken the tempo of the batters and would have asked the bowler to hurry up. They lack cricket acumen.

Anyone who watched those games cannot say that unless totally biased. Niazi’s captaincy was pedestrian at best. His captaincy had nothing to do with Pakistan’s win, it was all due to Pakistan’s bowling.
 
What an amazing game of cricket, I was watching this and an out due to errands and stuff, at one point Bangladesh had 7 wickets down, and I thought to myself Pak got this now, I had errands to runs so I couldnt watch, I came back and I see Bangladesh needed 5 to win off 5 crazy stuff, than it went to Super over, and thankfully Pak was able to win, will need to watch the full highlights.

One thing is for sure, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India have some good prospects for the future, will be interesting to see how some of these guys career turns out

Amazing win by Pakistan, Congrats on a well deserved victory :)
 
The captaincy by Irfan was poor the whole match until the final over.

By stalling & taking time to talk to the bowler, the batsmen rhythm was completely broken.

This is something Pakistan should've done against AUS in the T20 World Cup where Wade took on Shaheen.

Irfan Khan Niazi clearly lacks captaincy experience. His decision making throughout the tournament has been unbelievably poor, and the semi-final alone showed that he simply doesn’t read the game well yet. he’s just not ready for that role at this stage.

Pakistan won this tournament because of the brilliance of Muqeem, Maaz, Ahmad, and other players who stepped up when it mattered. InshaAllah Irfan will learn with time and get better, but right now he’s not suited for captaincy.

We need players with these kind of guts and ice cold demeanour.

Contrast this with how Rizwan Babar and Amir behaved during USA super over.

The batsmen were too scared to come and Amirs legs shook like he was on a roller coaster.

There was a reason it came down to 12 runs - Niazi’s captaincy! You had a team dead and buried at 7 down all because of your spinners and then you went and handed the ball over to pacers and made a game out of it when Arafat, Maaz and Masood all had overs remaining. Did the same thing in the semi final when Ubaid and Shahid were getting tonked and he kept persisting with them. Did not even bowl Maaz at all. It was Sufyan, Daniyal, Saad and Arafat who won us the games, certainly not Niazi.

What really stood out was Daniyal's competitive spirit apart from his swagger. He looked absolutely filthy that the game went to a super over.

Shahid aziz bowled well in the semi finals.

Now how would irfan know in advance that shahid aziz would bowl a bad over in the final.

Point is, it was a low scoring game and you need to be careful with your bowling options. Both occasions, Niazi came out as winners

Yup. Good game.

Purpose of this tournament is to identify talents for senior's team. I think that purpose has been fulfilled.

Pakistan, BD, and Sri Lanka found some promising youngsters for their senior teams.

Not sure about India as I didn't follow them closely. :inti
 
Daniyal saying Irfan the captain changes his bowling plan. He was planning to do Yorkers but Irfan told him to bowl the length balls, which worked

Hopefully, this will put to rest the argument re Irfan's captaincy...
 
Pakistan have been doing well in the past 2 months or so.

Won the Hong Kong Sixes title
Won the Emerging Asia Cup title
Beat South Africa in both ODI and T20 series (drew Test series)
Whitewashed SL 3-0 in ODI
Won 3 out of 3 in the ongoing tri-series

So a player who bowled well in the semis should automatically get to bowl his full quota in the finals even when:
1- he got hit for 13 in the first over
2- even when spinners who had been dominating not just today’s game but both semis as well had overs left
No way to defend those tactics

Again Niazi came out a winner not because of his captaincy, tactics or his batting performance but because Sufyan, Arafat and Daniyal ripped out the Bangladeshi batting lineup and Pakistan would have won by 40 runs if Niazi had persisted with spinners.
