Babar azam is responsible for this
How?? I'm really struggling to understand the PCB's thinking here. They're arranging a red-ball match against Bangladesh A in Australia, but for T20 games, they're playing against top Australian teams. It just doesn't add up! Why not give our team the opportunity to test their skills against the best Australian teams in the longer format? It feels like they're not taking the red-ball format seriously and that's really frustrating.

What guarantee is there that he will be included in the test squad after a top performance?

Spoiler alert, he won't.

Even if he is, very unlikely he'll play. Pakistan is very rigid and is the only squad in the world that plays full strength for every series.

For Bangladesh

1) Abdullah Shafiq
2) Imam ul haq
3) Shan Masood
4) Babar Azam

^^ These 4 slots are booked.

Not sure about Imam.

I would have a word with Fakhar and see if he is interested in test cricket.

Imam will play 100%. His place in odi has come under threat due to Abdullah shafiq being a babar buddy who got infatuated with his technique, Hence babar fast tracked him despite Abdullah only playing 7 List A games before wc 2023. And fakhar threatens it due to his odi 150+ exploits.

In test however he has no worry or fear. He has the backings of nepotism and Abdullah is his partner, Fakhar doesn't play test so no fear and Shabzada has no backing from anyone.

He doesn't have any saya or other talent agency backing, he isn't friends with anyone etc etc.

Toss Update:

Bangladesh A wins the toss and opts to bowl first against Pakistan Shaheens

It has to start 12 am GMT actually. so the game is already in progress.

The last sentence is 100% true. Nobody in Pakistan, including the cricket board, senior coaches and managers, and senior cricketers, are not interested in Test cricket. All they want is to play T20s as much as possible and participate in every XYZ league if they offer some competitive compensation.

Look at Shaheen, how he was rested in the Australian Test last year just to make him fit for useless T20s. Who is responsible for this? I have never seen Australia, England, or India giving rest to their main players in Test matches. Harris and Amir denied to play tests just to remain fit for T20s and leagues.

Good stuff from Shaheens atm. Score is 248/1

Shaibzada Afarhan got out for 66.

Huraira is currently batting at 116 while Umar Amir is at 50.

I might have jinxed Umar because he was a goner straightaway after scoring 50. Made 54 in total.

Kamran Ghulam is at the crease with Huraira and the score is 278/2 atm.

where can i see the match or score?

They should be playing Australia 'A' not Bangladeshis.

Or else against Australian domestic state teams.
They will be playing a t20 series against them as well.

But it is also good that they are playing in red ball format atm because I think some of these guys can get a call for the homie series against Bangladesh as well Like Huraira or Kamran Ghulam.

Huraira is looking solid on the crease atm. 150 up for him now.

Shaheens are 346/2

I don't understand this scheduling.

Darwin pitches are unlike usual Aussie pitches.

And they aren't even playing any Aus teams but the A team of even weaker team than Pak.

Who gets to decide on the pitch ? Seems a road has been rolled out so presumably a Pak curator worked on it ?

So many questions.

Huraira's unbeaten century puts Shaheens ahead on day one

Mohammad Huraira struck an unbeaten century as Pakistan Shaheens finished with 375-2 off 79 overs on day one of the first four-day match against Bangladesh A at the DXC Arena in Darwin.

Huraira starred with an unbeaten 161 off 203 balls hitting 18 fours and one six while Kamran Ghulam (74 not out, 114b, 11x4s), Sahibzada Farhan (66, 83b, 10x4s) and Umar Amin (54, 77b, 8x4s) struck valuable half-centuries.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh A won the toss and opted to bowl first. Sahibzada and Huraira put on a 134-run opening stand to push the Bangladesh A bowling attack on the back foot. Ripon Mondol drew first blood for Bangladesh A when he bowled Pakistan Shaheens’ skipper in the 27th over.

Umar Amin, who walked into bat at three, put on a 118-run second-wicket partnership with Huraira to further strengthen Shaheens’ position on day one. Huraira brought up his ninth first-class century off 129 balls in the 44th over. Umar’s stay on the crease was cut short, soon after he reached his half-century, by Mondol who struck in 52nd over to give Bangladesh A their second scalp of the day.

Huraira was then joined by Kamran Ghulam as the duo stitched an unbeaten 123-run partnership to add to Bangladesh A’s woes. Kamran struck 11 boundaries in his unbeaten 74. For Bangladesh A, only Mondol managed to strike twice while all other bowlers toiled without managing a scalp.

Scores in brief:

Bangladesh ‘A’ won the toss and elected to bowl first

Pakistan Shaheens 375-2, 79 overs (Mohammad Huraira 161 not out, Kamran Ghulam 74 not out, Sahibzada Farhan 66, Umar Amin 54; Ripon Mondol 2-59)

Red ball matches are more important. Could have been valuable experience for next generation of Pak cricketers.

Mate just let these guys play against Bangladesh main team

When are you going to start them if you ain’t going to play them against Bangladesh?
Because our management team want to keep their job secure.

Pakistan's side looks too strong for this Bangladesh team. It would have been better if they played against the winner of the Sheffield Shield.

Mohammad Huraira after conclusion of Day 1:

"Conditions were quite difficult at the start, there was moisture on the pitch and the Duke ball was swinging and seaming early on, and we see off (skipped) their good balls. After that, when the energy of the Bangladesh A bowlers went down, we fully utilized the bad balls."

When are you going to start them if you ain’t going to play them against Bangladesh?
None of these guys will be tested. It's a dil kush karnei wala series.

Imam, Abdullah, Shan, Babar, Rizwan slots are booked in test. The concept of developing a team, gelling a combination and giving experience to new blood is an alien concept to pakistan.

Comparing both teams on paper. Pakistan looks to be a significantly better and more experienced side.

How on earth a 38 year old Umar Amin is still playing for Shaheens when this is an opportunity for youngsters to go abroad and shine.

Beyond ridiculous but not surprised either.
Umar Amin is 38? Damn. Thought he was younger.

Off season for Aussie domestic players. Some of them use this time to play elsewhere including county.

And it's Pak A.

I was also surprised to see Umar Amir here. This is the problem we don't pick the right players to give them the opportunity to express their skills. What will Umar Amin prove at this age and what is his future with the Pakistan team now that he has been picked?

Wasn't Gillespie given the opportunity to pick and have a say in the selection of the Shaheens?

Thought him and Kirsten would be having a major say in the selection going forward.

Clearly Dizzy would know that Amin isn't the future and would be unlikely to feature to represent Pakistan again in any format.

Shaheens are taking BD attack to the cleaners (as expected).

Surprised to see Umar Amin.

Well, should let BD bat first, could be a Road they are playing on. But what is Umar Amin doing in A team? Guy is almost 35. Should rather give chances to new and young players.

Pakistan Shaheens declared the inning for 467/3 as Huraira got out for 218 and Kamran Ghulam also completed his century.

Bangladesh A is 8/1 atm with Mohammad Ali striking early.

Wicket each for Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad as Bangladesh A is 55/2 atm.

Good tight bowling by the bowlers.

Bangladesh Batters have found their rhythm now I guess. Partnership is not worth more than 80 now for the 3rd wicket

Bangaldesh A 102/2 atm.

Till tea, Bangladesh A managed to score 107 for 2

The current score is 123/2.

Good cricket going on atm.

Finally, Pakistan Shaheen got their 3rd wicket as Mubasir Khan removed Aich Mollah via run out otherwise they were looking pretty comfortable out there.

Lucky wicket.

Bangladesh A 176/3

Dahani struck as Shaheens have their 4th wicket now. Both set batters were removed.

BNG A 183/4 now.

Bangladesh A put up a fighting display with the bat against Pakistan Shaheens as their scorecard read 203-4 in 62 overs, trailing Pakistan Shaheens by 264 runs, when the stumps were drawn on day two of first four-day match at the DXC Arena in Darwin.

Shadman Islam (88, 167b, 15x4s) and Aich Mollah (70, 113b, 11x4s) resisted with a 153-run third-wicket partnership after Pakistan Shaheens had reduced Bangladesh A to 23-2 in 12.1 overs. Mohammad Ali dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon for a paltry three while Khurram Shahzad got rid of Amite Hasan for eight.

Shadman and Mollah batted for around 38 overs before the latter was run-out by Sahibzada Farhan. Two overs later Shahnawaz Dahani dismissed Shadman caught by Umar Amin. Ariful Islam retired hurt as he left the ground at the end of 59th over.

Shahadat Hossain (15 not out, 32b, 2x4s) and Hasan Murad, yet to open his account, will resume the batting for Bangladesh A on day three. For Shaheens, Khurram, Ali and Dahani picked up one wicket each while Mubasir and Mehran remained wicketless.

Earlier, Pakistan added 92 runs in 17.1 overs to their overnight score of 375-2 before declaring the innings at 467-3 after facing 96.1 overs. Mohammad Huraira (218, 247b, 26x4s, 1x6) added 57 more runs to his unbeaten overnight total of 161 while also bringing up the second double ton of his first-class career.

Hasan struck to remove Huraira in the 94th over, ending 204-run third-wicket partnership, as Omair Bin Yousuf (6 not out, 13b, 1x4) joined Kamran Ghulam (100 not out, 161b, 13x4s) in the middle. The declaration call came right after Kamran brought up his 17th first-class century.

Ripon Mondal, who picked up two wickets, and Hasan, who plucked one, were the only successful bowlers for Bangladesh A among the six players who bowled.

Scores in brief

Bangladesh A trail by 268 runs

Pakistan Shaheens 467-3 dec, 96.1 overs (Mohammad Huraira 218, Kamran Ghulam 100 not out, Sahibzada Farhan 66, Umar Amin 54; Ripon Mondol 2-84, Hasan Murad 1-130)

Bangladesh A 203-4, 62 overs (Shadman Islam 88, Aich Mollah 70, Shahadat Hossain 15 not out; Muhammad Ali 1-34, Khurram Shahzad 1-44, Shahnawaz Dahani 1-50)

Same Huraira couldn’t put a bat on the ball against Zimbabwe bowlers just because there was some bounce and movement on the pitch

Purely a job saving excercise this series , going to Aus and put a flat road against minnows, if you are going to Aus atleast play against Aus A , B or even C side instead of Bangladesh which doesn’t even make sense.
Yeah, I don't understand the purpose at all.

Pakistan isn't going to play Aus at Darwin for sure in future. And the conditions and wickets are diametrically opposite.

The only saving grace is probably no weather interruptions as it is raining elsewhere and extremely hot in UAE.

Khurram Shahzad made it a quick work. 6 wickets for him in the 1st innings as Bangladesh A is all out for 266.

Started their inning for 204/4 but lost 6 wickets for 62 runs on Day 3.

Pakistan Shaheens are also in bad shape. 23/2 is the score atm.

Mubasir khan and Omair bin Yousuf should grab this opportunity with both hands and show the selectors that they are worth trying.

Pakistan Shaheen leads by 255 runs atm on day 3. Could win this game if they take the lead above 350 and let Bangladesh bat in the final session but they have to score a bit faster here.

The partnership between Mubasir Khan and Omair bin Yousuf has now crossed the 100-run mark as Pakistan Shaheens lead by 330 runs on Day 3.

Shaheens are in a pretty strong position atm as It is Tea now.

Khurram is talented. He should be backed in Test Cricket for a long time. The way he set up Smith in that Test Series on his debut was amazing.

Yeah, he looks like an intelligent bowler. He should definitely be in the squad for upcoming series.

Omair Bin Yousuf scored a brilliant century today. Pakistan Shaheens lead by 427 against Bangladesh A

Khurram, Omair and Mubasir rout Bangladesh A on commanding day for Shaheens

Pakistan Shaheens had a commanding day in the field with bat and ball against Bangladesh A as they set them a target of 428 on day three in the first four-day match at the DXC Arena in Darwin. Bangladesh A require 408 runs as they closed the day with 20-0 in seven overs.

Earlier, Bangladesh A resumed their innings from the overnight score of 203-4 before succumbing to 266 all out in 76.2 overs as Shaheens took no time in wrapping up their innings. Shahadat Hossain was stranded for 36 not out while none of the batters apart from Rejaur Rehman Raja (32, 18b, 4x4s) offered any resistance as their team added only 63 runs for six wickets leaving a deficit of 201 runs.

Test fast bowler, Khurram Shahzad was the chief destroyer as he dismissed five batters in the first session claiming figures of 6-72 in 21.2 overs, his sixth five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. Mohammad Ali finished with 2-64 in 22 overs, while also holding up one end on the morning of day three. Shahnawaz Dahani had one scalp to his name.

With a lead of 201 runs, Pakistan Shaheens began their second innings copping two early blows. Haseebullah departed for a six-ball duck while Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for eight, leaving Shaheens 20-2 in 5.1 overs.

Omair Bin Yousuf (100 not out, 123b, 6x4s, 2x6s) and Mubasir Khan (95, 134b, 8x4s, 1x6), promoted up the order, put on a mammoth 170-run third-wicket partnership to help Pakistan extend the lead over 400-mark.

Mubasir missed out on his fourth first-class century while Omair, playing his 50th first-class game, registered his 11th ton in the format. The declaration call came right after he reached his ton, with Shaheens scorecard reading 226-3 in 47.2 overs, setting Bangladesh 428 runs to win. Bangladesh bowlers toiled as Ripon Mondol, Rejaur Rehman and Mukidul Islam picked up one wicket each.

Mehran, Dahani bowl Pakistan Shaheens to victory against Bangladesh A

Pakistan Shaheens bagged a hard-fought 148-run win over Bangladesh A in the last hour of play on day four of the first four-day match at the DXC Arena in Darwin on Monday. Shaheens took all 10 Bangladesh wickets in 79.2 overs on day four with Mehran Mumtaz and Shahnawaz Dahani sharing seven among them.

Requiring 408 runs to win or to bat out the day to save the game, Bangladesh A’s opening batters started the day by bringing up fifty-run opening partnership continuing from the overnight score of 20-0. Dahani struck to remove Shadman Islam (26, 65b, 4x4s) in the 22nd over.

Shaheens’ bowling attack toiled for another 21.1 overs when Mehran eked out the vital scalp of Parvez Hossain Emon, who had faced 138 balls for his 57 runs hitting six fours and two sixes. Mehran soon trapped Aich Mollah, for a paltry four, in the 50th over.

For the next 12.2 overs Amite Hasan (71, 102b, 14x4s) and Shahadat Hossain put on 57 runs ringing the alarm bells for Shaheens. Dahani made much needed inroads in the Bangladesh A batting by removing well-set Amite in the 63rd over and Ariful Islam (4, 5b, 1x4) in the 65th over with a little over two hours’ time left in the day.

With Shaheens five wickets away from triumph, Mehran Mumtaz landed a double blow in 71st over to end Shahadat’s (42, 62b, 7x4s) rearguard effort and removed Hasan Murad for a five-ball duck leaving Bangladesh A 221-7.

It took Shaheens 15.2 more overs to remove the remaining three batters as Ripon Mondol resisted with an unbeaten 43 off 30 balls hitting seven fours and Mahidul Islam chipped in with a 66-ball 15 with Bangladesh A scoring 279 all out in 86.2 overs. Mehran and Dahani collected figures of 4-84 and 3-57, respectively. Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali picked up one wicket each.

The second four-day match will start on Friday, 26 July at the same venue.

Mehran isn't going to get batsman out on good wickets, he won't even get bad ones out. He needs to slow down and impart more spin. However, with his pace He would be handy

What will Pakistan 'A' achieve by playing Bangladesh 'A' on Australian soil?

They should be playing Australia 'A' instead.

Absolutely zilch. Just more nonsensical rubbish at the PCB. If we played SA, Aus or England we would get some idea if any of these guys have potential. Someone like Hurraira has lots of potential against spin but can he handle bounce and pace. Are We are going to be anymore enlightened after the double 200? Well no

Why did these two sides play in Australia? LOL. That's so random.

Surprised that BD got an invitation from Australia. They normally don't get to play in Australia.

Bangladesh another side that should focus all energies on white ball cricket. Next generation of Test players will be even worse.

Pointless game. We need our Shaheens to be playing against better opposition to really judge who is ready for the step up to the next level.
Also frustrating that dosti selections are still happening (Umar Amin)

On australian pitches ball doesnt spin much so his rteal test would be on subcontinent pitches to analyse his strength.

His strength is his playing of spin I find him abit suspect against pace bowling pluss thiers already to much competition in the top order.
