Bangladesh A (258 & 216) secure a narrow 5-run win over Pakistan Shaheens (179 & 290) in the 2nd Four-Day match to level the series 1-1 in Darwin

I feel like the Shaheens team could beat our national side
Ok if you are not being sarcastic then it's a good moral boosting win for the A team guys. Although I am seeing joy got a 5 fer and can't imagine what happened in the field. More like saheens became shaheedes then joy getting them out with good balls

It’s kind of unbelievable but the bitter reality is that Pakistan as a cricket nation has embraced mediocrity and bottomness. It came to them against their will, they resisted and they submitted.

What is Umar Amin doing ? Crazy that they
Pakistan red ball coach Jason Gillespie shared his thoughts after today's narrow defeat:

"Just got to the end of Shaheen red ball cricket tour. There were mix bag of surprises, we won our first game and that was great but unfortunately lost today. Overall it was a wonderful experience for all the shaheen players. Quite an opportunity for myself to get to know the guys first of all and see how they go about training and preparation. How they go about their work on the field. It was a good learning curve for me plus the guys could have got a lot from this opportunity and that is what Shaheen tours are all about. Going out there in foreign conditions against different oppositions."

"Well there are a plenty of lessons to learn certainly from this game too. We played our top 7 (batsmen) from group of batting players. 4 of our top 7 got good start but none of them go on to score big scores. We have had some partnerships in middle of the road (Innings). Partnership in 40s and 50s that didn't tick off into bigger ones that could have put the opposition under great pressure. So there are lessons for our batters on how to get themselves busy (on crease) and try to put the pressure back on the bowling team that we couldn't get right in this game."

"So there were plenty of lessons here, was fun to get to know the players and the stuff too. So it was a wonderful experience here at Darwin in our home country. I know the boys really enjoyed it and i wish the best to the team for the white ball leg of this tour. Its gonna be great fun."
Looks like Gillespie is left with a bit of egg in the face after taking pains to schedule this series vs a low key Bang A team. Pakistan were expected to steam roll over Ban A and Hillespie would stand to earn some nice credit but it has t transpired.

Strange selection like Umar Amin did not help Shaheens. Still anything is good learning. Although I still don't understand the value of scheduling this in Darwin.

loll Shaheens = shaheeds

I think the Shaheens lost out by dropping Hurraira. That would have probably made all the difference. I get more excited watching our A-team play compared to our national team because I'm curious to see our bench talent. And I feel they are more likable because there is less player politics there.

At junior level, BD don't get steamrolled. BD won a U-19 World Cup not long ago.

But, yeah. Pakistan should've won 2-0.

Anyway, it was like a practice series. Outcomes don't matter much. All about identifying and polishing youngsters.

Surprising that Hurraira wasn't playing this match. Unless he was injured, I'd like to know the explanation for that.

It just confirms the lack of quality in domestic cricket.

Need to look beyond or wait for more u16s to emerge who will work their way up. Either way its a 5 year wait.

Umar Amin is nearly 35 years old and instead of dominating in a game like this, he was terrible this series and overshadowed by the younger players.

In fact, I would say on the batters side, that sums up the theme of the series. Tayyab Tahir is 31 years old with a 34 FC average and still being utterly mediocre when he should be dominating. And people think this guy has a chance to be anything useful at the international level.

it's shocking players like these are given chances over younger players like Abdul Faseeh and then they perform so horribly to top it of. I guess it shouldn't be surprising... this is what Pakistan has always been. One good match followed by a bad one and this level of inconsistency is about the only consistent thing within Pakistan over the past few decades.

SO Shaheens lost to Bangladesh A. LOL.

That is shocking yet funny. This is the level of Pakistan cricket atm. When you select a 35 year old guy like umar amir for A team, you are bound for such disasters. Why is he even there?? We don't have young talent in the country??? We have but these guys take the spot of youngsters and do nothing in the field themselves.
