Pakistan slides 16 spots on corruption perceptions index, now ranks 140 out of 180 countries: report

But they did not implement any reforms for future govt's loan requests. PTI was selected primarily to bring in those reforms. Reformists ftw.

Are you saying that a policy of increasing exports isn't reform. The govt has worked hard with the textile industry to improve exports( up soon to a point where they will exceed our entire exports under NS) it has setup IT parks and those will have an impact in the near future, the govt has started on 10 dams and they will impact in the next few years as the cheaper electricity will stabilise prices and cut debt. You will know that the cost of a unit of production is 14c( because of the contracts NS and AZ made with IPPs), nearly double the regional average and the dams will help to bring that down and increase food productivity. We have started to assemble phones( and hopefully we will start to manufacture them at home) and that is again something that should reduce imports. The job of govt is to create the environment with business friendly policies and we have improved massively in ease of doing business surveys. Everyone wants IK to find magic bullets but things take time. Just imagine if we built the Dams under Mush, the Sharifs or AZ? Today we would have cheap electricity and many of our ills we would be reduced. Instead we got a set of crooks that spent years laundering any Foreign currency we had. IK isn't perfect but compared to these incompetent idiots he is a genius

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that he had already fulfilled his pre-election promise of eradicating corruption from the country in 90 days within the stipulated time after coming into power.

A day after Pakistan slipped down on the Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2021, Imran said that no scandal of financial corruption emerged during the incumbent government’s tenure, whereas scandals like Panama Papers surfaced during previous government’s rule.

“The promise to end corruption in 90 days has already been fulfilled,” a party leader, who wishes not to be named, quoted Prime Minister Imran as saying, while addressing a meeting of the spokespersons for the ruling party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Subsequently, while taking briefing on the Transparency International’s report, Imran directed the party spokespersons to apprise people about the corruption cases of the Sharif family, especially, former Punjab’s chief minister Shehbaz Sharif and his alleged involvement in money laundering cases.

The sources said that PM Imran also said that the people should be told how Sharif family carried out money laundering in the name of peons and clerks. Apart from Shehbaz’s cases, the premier was also briefed on the provision of health cards.

During the meeting, sources said, the information minister also gave a briefing on the TI report, saying that there was no mention of the financial corruption in it and only issues related to rule of law were highlighted.

During the meeting, the prime minister directed the party leaders to also inform the people about the economic indicators and the provision of a major facility like health card to the masses. Through the health card, he said, every family would get Rs1 million health insurance.

Imran also said that reports of international organisations lauding Pakistan’s performance on the economy should also be highlighted.

Meanwhile, the prime minister launched the Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card, a phenomenal health insurance scheme promised by the PTI in its election manifesto.

Under the scheme, all households of Islamabad, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Tharparkar region of Sindh would be provided free medical treatment up to Rs1 million in a year at the government and private hospitals.

At the launching ceremony in the federal capital, the prime minister distributed the health insurance cards to the beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, he termed the facility “an ambitious programme” to facilitate the masses across-the-board.

“Universal health coverage is available in a few countries across the world,” Imran told the ceremony. In Pakistan, he added, the launching of such a facility was a “landmark step” to accommodate the people bearing the burden of expensive medical treatment.

Imran said that nowhere in the world the citizens get the kind of health insurance “that our government is going to provide through health cards”. He added: “We will make Pakistan a welfare state in which the state takes responsibility for the poor.”

The prime minister said that the Qaumi Sehat Card was in line with the government’s goals of a socio-welfare state. “Also, the national security is in fact linked with the welfare of people who are made stakeholders in the interest of state,” he added.

“This will prove as a defining moment in improvement of healthcare services in Pakistan,” Imran said, adding that the health card was a defining moment in encouraging private sector to join the medical network, especially in the rural areas.

He said Rs450 billion would be spent on health insurance programme. He mentioned that the government was establishing five mother and child hospitals in view of the high mortality rate of neonatal and pregnancy complications.

The prime minister said the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Authority would also highlight the way of life of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him), who emphasised on empathy for the poor and deserving.

On the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that 56 hospitals had been empaneled in the province to provide medical insurance facilities in 36 districts. He added that the entire population of Punjab would get medical insurance by March 31.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan said the health insurance facility was being given to the citizens of the country for in-patient medical treatment for several diseases related to heart, cancer, neurological surgeries, accident, trauma and others.

A special song prepared by the Information Ministry titled ‘Khushion Ka Jahan Pakistan Sub K Liye’ [Pakistan, the place of happiness for all] sung by renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was played on the occasion.

Increasing exports, import substitution, increased tax collection, IT parks to name a few. Why did exports drop under Nooras, surely a child would have realised that lower exports will lead to bankruptcy.

Yes even children understand these things but what is the government doing in this regard?

This man is delusional and not mentally fit to lead the nation. He lives in his own little world where Pakistan is a superpower with vibrant and thriving economy.

No! it is okay, It will be waste of my time and yours as you have already came to conclusion that NS and Zardari government had done better and reforms is taking place so PTI can get more loans.

Leave NS or Zardari.. what has your beloved leader done to improve the situation?

Leave NS or Zardari.. what has your beloved leader done to improve the situation?

Can't leave NS and Zardari out of it, we are at due them two being the major factor.

PTI government hasn't done anything if one were to ask you.

I won't get into trivial counts because as I said, it will be waste of my time.

So you guys support the crooks but can't defend them. You saying ignore the crooks takes away any context to what IK has done and what he wants to do. It's a silly question and it shows your badniyaati.

Yeah I agree IK has been a total failure. Lets try your favorite flavor of crook again and see if given a 4th chance they can do better.

Guy is a lost cause, and is delusional because he is giving a political response to a political statement he made? Do you realize he is a politician right?

Who could end corruption in 90 days? But that sounds good when you are addressing a jalsa.

You expect him to run for election saying yea I did not fulfill my promises but vote for me?

Best option is to point out that their has been no personal scandal of IK unlike Panama with Nawaz and run with that. Which is what he is doing.

Thanks that you have agreed IK has been a failure. That is my point. Just because I oppose IK doesn't automatically make me a fan of NS or Zardari. IK in fact is proving to be a bigger disaster than what we expected. He is taking us back to stone age.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday instructed party workers to contact the public and expose the "lies" of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"Imran Khan’s [Naya] Pakistan is the most corrupt Pakistan according to a report of the Transparency International," he said while addressing a workers’ convention in Peshawar.

The PPP long march will be for bringing a no-confidence motion against the incompetent and illegitimate government of PM Imran, Bilawal added

"The PPP never left the field open for Imran Khan because we never let any dictator rule without resistance. We resisted dictators like General Yahya Khan, General Zia and General Musharraf," he said, adding, "We asked our friends not to resign and to contest the elections and then Imran Khan lost every by-poll, Senate election and local government elections."

Imran Khan did not fulfil his promise of 10 million jobs and 5 million houses. He did not provide a single job and got his own house in Bani Gala regularised, he added.

The PPP leader said that all promises of the premier to the youth of the country proved to be false and created the worst economic crisis of the history of Pakistan.

"All his [PM] promises about education, employment, economy, elimination of corruption, law and order, promises to growers, labourers and women were proved false."

On the very first day in parliament, Bilawal said he had called Imran Khan “selected” and today the whole world knows that he is selected.

He said that the PPP's long march will weaken the PTI government, adding that since they are democrats, they will not attack the Parliament House or the PTV.

The PPP will reach Islamabad with its long march and will put forward demands before the "selected" government, he added.

Bilawal said that the government has bowed before the terrorists. "These terrorists should ask for pardon first and then produce themselves before the law for accountability. Whatever the government is doing is wrong and the people of Pakistan and parliament should be taken into confidence before talking to these terrorists."

The name Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is given to the region by the PPP, he said. "This was the achievement of the PPP. Through the 18th Amendment in the Constitution, the PPP made the people of the province govern their own province. The people cannot forget the party which gave employment to the youth. The women of this province and the entire country cannot forget the BISP. The PPP is still fighting for the rights of the labourers."

Bilawal went on to say that the Sindh government is fighting for minimum wages to be Rs25,000 as it wanted to give more to the labour class, adding that it has also restored the students’ union.

"We will also restore students’ union in K-P and other provinces. We want to give a free medical treatment of cancer, liver, kidney and heart like in Sindh."

Bilawal said that he had long ago challenged the PTI government to show any hospital like NIVCD anywhere in Pakistan but it has not accepted that challenge yet.

Siraj says JI aims to make Pakistan corruption-free

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq stated on Wednesday that upon coming into power, the JI would hold corrupt elements accountable, making them an example for thieves and looters.

In a statement released here, Siraj said his party aimed to make Pakistan corruption-free and environmentally friendly.

He reiterated the party's commitment to establishing a Caliphate, emphasising the transformation of the prevailing British-imposed system and ensuring a system of justice and fairness as dictated by the Quran.

“Any system that does not make decisions in accordance with the Quran will be changed, and Jamaat-e-Islami desires to see the Quran in the hands of judges,” he added.

Siraj noted that with the implementation of the Quranic system, the weak and the poor would become powerful.

He highlighted that despite 35 years of military rule by generals and the rule of other political parties for the remaining period, the British-influenced system had persisted.

The JI chief said that after February 8, the JI aimed to change Pakistan's economic system, where two percent of the population enjoyed privileges while the remaining 98 percent of the people suffered.

He underscored that half of Pakistan's budget was utilised to pay off debts.

Siraj also recalled that during his tenure as the provincial finance minister, he cleared all of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's debts. However, after his tenure ended, the province was once again burdened with a debt of Rs1 trillion, he added.

How can they make Pakistan corruption free when they are also part of this system?

All these sorts of slogans we see by political parties just around the elections.
