Expecting quite a few changes from the world t20 squad, importantly performers from the psl 8 would get a go. And judging by the reports, babar and rizwan might be rested. My starting line up would be:

Fakhar Zaman
Saim Ayub
Mohammed Haris
Abdullah Shafique
Shadab Khan (vc)
Azam Khan
Imad Wasim
Faheem Ashraf/Usama Mir
Shaheen Afridi (c)
Haris Rauf
Ihsanullah

Naseem Shah
Haseebullah
Usama Mir/Faheem Ashraf

I cant think of another middle order batsman to include in the squad, to make it 15.

Faheem ,really ?? are you not sick and tired of this failed cricketer after 7 years of international cricket where he did nothing to talk about . A couple of good score on this "mini ground " at Pindi where everyone scoring 50s and 100s for fun doesn;t mean he suddenly turned into an Ian Botham . Time to give chance to new players .

Can add ifthikar ahmed to the squad of 15. Yes has been struggling this psl but he did well in the worldcup

Need a fast bowling allrounder. Not a fan of mohammed wasim junior. Faheem Ashraf seem to have developed the finishing game under shadab khan and islamabad. If not faheem, then anwar ali judging by his hitting ability and able to bowl

Hahaha lets go series by series. Please name if you have any other middle order bat

If babar and Rizwan are rested.

1. Fakhar
2. Abdullah
3. Haris
4. Umar akmal
5. Azam khan
6. Asif Ali
7. Imad
8. Shadab
9. Haris
10. Shaheen
11. Ihsanullah

Couldn’t think of many deserving middle order batsmen. So I guess umar akmal gets a go. Or we just play iftikhar. Asif Ali actually had done alright this PSL and has done well against this side before.

Would rather just go for Abdullah opening over Saim. Saim is too young and will probably be dropped or fit into middle order after Rizwan and babar come back. So not worth it.

Despite such a high scoring tournament middle order batsmen have failed to impress in this PSL except Azam and Imad who isn’t even a specialist batsman.

Can't take Afg lightly don't forget the armageddon and bad blood they bring into game go with a strong side and blank them 0-3

Abdullah shafique?

Is that a joke?

A few runs shouldn't make a difference just yet.

You’d rather give experience to Ayub than Abdullah who still hasn’t convinced as a T20 batsman.

Abdullah should be at 3

Babar
Rizwan
Abdullah

Abdullah replaces Shan in the future this is what Pakistan selectors are likely to pick I can see Babar and Rizwan still there for a few years not much will change.

Babar and Rizwan are over mate

Seniors get preference in Pakistan even if it’s the right move to split them up I can see them having enough influence to keep their position as openers in the team.

Don’t think so buddy

I recon Saim and Fakhar won’t let it go this time

New look team for Afghanistan T20is

It looks like the PCB are thinking (I think quite rightly) of resting seniors for the upcoming Afghan and NZ T20is.

So my team vs Afghan in UAE:

Saim Ayub
Mohammad Haris
Haseebullah (wkt keeper)
Shadab Khan (captain)
Azam Khan
Umar Akmal
Imad Wasim
Faheem Ashraf
Usama Mir
Ihsanullah
Naseem Shah

Reserves:

Usman Khan (batsman)
Abbas Afridi
Qasim Akram
Mohammad Hasnain

Is this too radical or are such changes long over due in the T20i set up?

Haseebullah for azam

PCB should rest all senior players. It should send a second XI team made of players who have not played for Pakistan before and have done well in PSL.

Who are we kidding, it's gonna be the same exact squad as always. First XI will play every match and in the final match we might just possibly see Mohammad Haris

A T20I side without Babar & Riz should be:

Fakhar Zaman
Saim Ayub
Abdullah Shafique
Mohammad Haris
Shadab Khan
Haseebullah Khan
Azam Khan
Imad Wasim
Usama Mir
Shaheen Afridi
Ihsanullah

I'd like to see seniors like babar rizzy Rauf all rested and test out the immense bench strength coming though right now. Wouldnt mind a squad like this.

Ayub
Haris
Abdullah
Haseebullah
Azam
Imad
Shadab
Aamer jamal/usama mir/nawaz
Shaheen
Naseem
Ihsanullah

Fakhar, Nawaz, mir, Iftikhar, wasim jr, abrar on the bench.

Aamer jamal brother. Big bright future. Excellent bowler capable of consistently hitting 140+ and a big hitting batsmen. Better then wasim jr imo who I'm a big fan of. Faheem ashraf is terrible, hope we bin him and invest in Aamer jamal. Lad has a lot of potential.

It's good to see Najam Sethi determined to break the Babar Rizwan domination in team affairs

Should be: -

1- Saim Ayub
2- Babar Azam
3- Mohd. Haris (wk)
4- Abdullah Shafique
5- Azam Khan
6- Imad Wasim
7- Fahim Ashraf
8- Mohd. Nawaz
9- Naseem Shah
10- Haris Rauf
11- Ihsanullah

Will rest Shaheen as he already has had some injury concerns.

Haris Rauf has had an ordinary PSL. Not playing him now will probably do more harm than good

Babar should also not be rested as I think he would really take a drop/rest to heart at this stage which will not be good for us leading up to the 50 over world cup.

lol I just noticed Umar Akmal and stopped reading. Really bro?

Bit worried when I saw Faheem’s name been mentioned by a few. Shows you how fickle some Pakistani fans are with zero foresight!

Heres my squad of 15 assuming Babar and Rizwan are getting rested.

1) Saim Ayub
2) Mo Haris
3) Fakhar Zaman
4) Ifthikar Ahmad
5) Azam Khan
6) Imad Wasim
7) Shadab Khan
8) Usama Mir
9) Shaheen
10) Naseem
11) Ihsanullah

12) Abdullah Shafiq
13) Haris Rauf
14) Nawaz
15) Hasnain

Thank God we can finally dream of making a t20 team where babar and rizwan dont open. it has been an incredible PSL this time around with a lot of fresh talent on display. For t20, i think we can finally afford to have a strategy of going hard in the powerplay, stabilising the innings in the middle, and then going ham at the end. So on this basis, my team would be:

1. Saim Ayub
2. Fakhar
3. Harris
4. Abdullah Shafique
5. Azam khan
6. Haseebullah
7. Shadab (vc)
8. Imad / Usama Mir
9. Naseem / Harris Rauf / Hasnain
10. Shaheen (c)
11. Ihsanullah

We have explosive firepower in top 3, stabilising and innings building batsmen in 4/5, and more than decent firepower to finish it off at the end with Haseebullah, shady and imad. For bowlers, the spearheads will be shaheen and ihsanullah, and we can rotate between the other three beat pacers for the third spot.

Pakistan squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan will be announced on Monday at 2pm local time.

A 13 man squad should be announced to avoid joyride trips

Fakhar
Saim
Haris+
ABShafiq
AzamKhan
Iftikhar
Shadab
Naseem
Mir
Shaheen c
Ihsanullah

IHaseebullah Hasnain bench

Front load the side with all the big hitters. Time to take a new approach, dump in the likes of Ayub, Haris, Usman Khan, Omair Yusfuf.

We can do this.

I'd be quite happy to see Babar and Rizwan rested for this series. We already know what they can do. It's time to provide some healthy competition for the opening spots and try out some new guys.

I would go with the following:

Saim Ayub
Mohammad Haris
Abdullah Shafique
Fakhar Zaman
Fatzam Khan (wk)
Imad
Shadab
Usama Mir
Shaheen (c)
Naseem
Ihsanullah

Time to show us what you got.

So, my XI won't please everyone but, I'm a roll with it.

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Mohammad Haris
3. Abdullah Shafique
4. Tayyab Tahir
5. Azam Khan (WK)
6. Imad Wasim
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Usama Mir
9. Abbas Afridi
10. Shaheen Shah Afridi (C)
11. Ihsanullah

12. Aamer Jamal
13. Hussain Talat
14. Hasan Ali
15. Iftikhar Ahmed
16. Mohammad Nawaz

So, yeah. I didn't go with Ayub, who is think is tremendously talented and a good looking batter, but I still feel it may be a tad too early for him. You could imply that Mohammad Haris situation is similar, but with the lack of WK batters in T20 cricket, Pakistan needed to insert likewise Azam Khan. Azam's fitness is a concern for me but his form doesn't warrant a return in the side.

Tayyab Tahir deserves selection as yes he might not a have played that much in the PSL but his form wasn't bad, but his National T20 Cup was pretty good & with the WT20 in 2024, Pakistan could do with good players of spin, Tayyab Tahir is that. Abdullah Shafique unleashed the shackles in the PSL where he could play with more of attacking intent so at No.3 he would be fine.

Faheem Ashraf batting form is surprisingly good, which I definitely not expecting to be honest, specially with the lack pace-bowling AR. Imad Wasim's batting form is too good to ignore, he must be brought back into the setup. Abbas Afridi is taking wickets and I would rest Shadab for Usama Mir.

Ifikhar, Aamer, Hussain, Hasan and Nawaz as bench players are fine, maybe with Aamer Jamal getting a few games.

Based on performances so far…

(Not batting order)
1. Saim
2. Harris
3. Fakhar
4. Imad
5. Imad
6. Faheem
7. Azam
8. Ihsanullah
9. Abbas Afridi
10. Shaheen (c)
11. Usama Mir
12. Omair Yousuf
13. Zaman Khan
14. Abdullah Shafique
15. Abrar Ahmed

Pakistan should select string team selected from the best players from PSL who have not played for Pakistan. This give exposure to players who are almost ready to play for Pakistan. If Pakistan loses the series than it will be no big deal.It is important to develop a good pool of players for future ICC competitions.

umm 4 bowlers, batting t20s bowling tests

I fear for the likes of Saim, Haris, on the sharjah tracks. It's not going to be easy to hit through the line against Mujeeb and Rashid on those pitches. And if you play across the line, you're a dead duck.
