Pakistan & Sri Lanka share one point after their World Cup match is abandoned due to wet outfield

Atleast they can have a toss now. Everyone knows that the game is going to be around 20 to 22 overs so why delay the tos.

More suspicious behavior by umpires.
 
Guys delay is because there are wet patches in the outfield.
Wet outfield is dangerous for players and will damage the ball...
 
I think, SRL won’t mind a 20 overs shoot out, which gives them best chance to win. Their batting is good for 25 overs max and Malinga’s 4 overs at the end will be crucial. In a 35+ overs game, they have very little chance.
 
Doesn't matter its not like we've been playing our strongest sides. The experimenting is over and the Windies collapse was a one of for a fairly stable batting line up. A lot of momentum can be gained from the England win. The team was lacking confidence ecspecially the bowlers.

Bad management.
 
Playing a WC game at such a place is absolutely poor by ICC with such drainage facilities. There should be some sort of accountability.

Pakistan may have to win 4 games to be sure anyway.. three wins and a washout won't help. in case of tied points team with higher wins always go through. if both the games are played then there is a good chance Pak will get atleast two points by winning atleast one of them. two points coming out of win has more value than two points getting out of washouts..
 
They're back at that 'patch'. They're poking an umbrella into that patch now. They're not worried about the pitch and the square clearly - they think it should be fine. What is intruiging though is, no groundsman is doing anything about that patch.



Am I the only one who is smelling something severely fishy here???? Umpires have an "issue" with a patch but nothing is being done to fix it.
 
So It seems Their is one "patch" somewhere in the ground which umpires are concerned about.
No Groundsmen seems to be doing anything about it.

Why can't two captains say let the f... start with the game farming can wait
 
Ok I get that there might be wet patches on the field but nothing is being done like groudsmen aren’t doing anything lol I think there are forces that don’t want this match to happen and I’m not talking about god here😋

Match 3: No result (1 point for each)

Pakistan in 2019 World Cup:
Match 1: Lost
Match 2: Won

What the hell are these two umpires doing? Wasting precious time that could have utilized. Get the players out on the pitch. Stop worrying about the patch. Just put some sand over it. Rain has been stopped for over an hour now. Stupid umpires and poor management
 
Ian Gould and Nigel Llong walking back in. We should hear a definitive answer soon. Clearly, we don't have time for more inspections.

With all the technology we have, how difficult would it be to develop a cover that would cover the whole ground before rain? why only the pitch and surrounding area?

Start at 3.40. get them out in 50 minutes amir and Shaheen swinging it around corners and knock it off in 7 overs

Not difficult at all with if moneybags were serious enough. Its being two hours since rain has stopped and not a single delivery has been bowled

What an earth is going on. If theres a slight chance to play they should take it. This is a world cup you have to try and get a result.
 
ICC has failed on numerous fronts and not being able to devise a good enough strategy to tackle rain has been one of them.
 
It’s not gonna rain for two hours and yet they still called it off. Umpires delayed the match for an hour and half with these stupid inspections
 
Very sad that these grounds don't have proper drainage and they are used for the world cup pretty pathetic.
 
Reports that match has been abandoned because of that one 'damp' patch :))

ICC should reconsider having these tournaments in the UK. It's a terrible place to play cricket.
 
Absolutely shocking piece of officiating this!
Yesterday's match and today's decision to call off the match, someone needs to be held accountable!
 
"After so much wait, the teams will finally share a point each. Thanks to rain, for the first time Sri Lanka have avoided a defeat against Pakistan in a World Cup game." Let that sink in.
 
So by Wednesday for the game vs Australia it would be 9 days since Pakistan last played in the tournament. On top of that the weather forecast for that game looks bad too.
 
Poor from ICC from all ends- they needed to psuh the groundsmen to repair the field within 30 mins - and not go by scheduled inspection rather get your *** out there and get the match started
 
Amazing. Sun is shining and rain had been stopped for past two hours yet they cancel.
