HBL PSL 2018 Squad Expansion

Lahore, December 29: As per the decision taken at the PSL Franchise Stakeholder Meeting held in Lahore last month, the following players were added to the squads earlier today:

1) Salman Irshad (Lahore Qalandars, Talent Hunt)
2) Mohammad Taha (Karachi Kings, Emerging)
3) Imran Khan Jr. (Lahore Qalandars, Silver)
4) Rohail Nazir (Islamabad United, Emerging)
5) Mushtaq Ahmed Kalhoro (Karachi Kings, Talent Hunt)
6) Mohammad Junaid (Quetta Gladiators, Talent Hunt)
7) Khushdil Shah (Peshawar Zalmi, Emerging)
8) Shan Masood (Multan Sultans, Silver)

The pool of available players included unselected players from the HBL PSL Draft, players brought in through scouting and talent hunt campaigns, and players who took part in the National T20 Cup held in Rawalpindi last month.

What a waste of time expansion was. Instead of rewarding domestic performers who'd previously missed out on contracts, Multan have selected a bunch of journeymen and over the hill players.

I guess Wasim Akram's contributions to Islamabad United has been revealed if this is his eye for talent.

Glad to see someone from interior Sindh making into KK squad. Shan Masood scored a century in the t20 cup so fair enough by Multan. United have done well by getting Rohail Nazir. Quetta getting Junaid is a reaction to the criticism of having no local player in the team. I don’t know how many bowlers this Lahore team can carry into the PSL but I guess for them it’s the more the merrier.

So they players said they want to select the top performers of National T20 so want an extra pick. What do they do, pick whoever they liked.
Multan will have Shehzad and Shan Masood as openers (they must have lost some fans cos of this surely). All their fans wanted was Imran Nazir &#55357;&#56834;&#55357;&#56834;&#55357;&#56904; and Mukhtar Ahmed. What do they get? A failed test batsman.
Lahore Qalandars have an overdose of bowlers and go pick another one in Imran Khan Jnr. This is despite the fact they have a non existent middle to lower order.

Seriously for every good decision these franchises make, they make 2 bad decisions.

But still love you PSL and PSL teams!

Some of the teams picked 19 players in the draft and left a spot open for a player to be selected after their talent hunts.

Totally agree!!! With only 2 local batsmen (Umar Akmal and Fakhar Zaman) and Delport/Mathews unlikely to get a game in presence of Mustafiz, it’s a bizarre of Qalanadars to add 2 more bowlers in presence of dozens on bowlers already. Now they have to play matches with 7 bowlers/allrounders and if someone from Akmal and Zaman gets injured there is no replacement as there is no batsman available even in supplementary category. Heck!!!
