Pakistan Super League teams to be allowed to pick a 21st player for their squads for PSL 4

In a bid to encourage local talent, each team will now have additional budget to select 21-member squads for this HBL PSL season.

The newly inducted players will be from Pakistan and may include players unearthed through talent hunt programs, top performers from the National T20 Cup or remaining players from the Draft pool.

Let's see if any team picks Zeeshan Malik, Saif Badar, Hassan Mohsin and may be Mukhtar Ahmed.

Also Draft process should be in two steps of 10 rounds and a few hours gap before second step so teams can reassess and plan for combinations.

With continuous process of 20 rounds draft, sometimes teams lose grip it in the heat of moment.

If a franchise can’t pick 20 players on merit, I don’t see a reason why they’d be tempted to pick the 21st player on merit. And if picking one player after the national t20 tournament is the right thing to do then they are basically admitting that the selection of the first 20 players before national t20 Cup wasn’t justified. PCB being its usual pathetic self.

First year it was over 2 days
Last year remember they took a break as well
This year they took a break after the first 16 selections I believe

Pretty sure it was in their plan all along, as they did the same last year
They must see this as a way of making the National T20 Cup relevant, by adding 1 player each
Which is a bit of a joke, but it’s better than no performing players making it

Agree, moreover, what's the point of selecting young talented domestic players when most of them won't get a chance in playing XI

They add this every year. They should put it at the start. Also the National t20 tournament should be before the PSL auction. It would benefit franchises if they could see players in televised games.

I asked one of the owners last week and he said that it wouldbe later in January......no official date announced yet.
