OK so Inzi recently said that the players on the bench are there to be used.

Sarfaraz and Mickey have duly dropped Hasan and Amir for Yamin and Nawaz.

Yamin, Rumman, Faheem, Shadab, Nawaz. This bowling attack is compiled of all-rounders...

Yamin has bowled a pretty good first over to be honest, but this bowling lineup doesn't really look international class.

Gonna be funny when they roll over NZ for 150...

Maybe they were instructed to do this? I don't mind it to be honest. 4-1 and 5-0 are not much different. You have to give the newer players a chance at some point.

Add 250 to your spoiler, rest is good.

What message? The team management agreed to the squad, i doubt Inzi would have selected the squad without consultation with the captain and coach.

Its a great team this is what we should be doing testing out the squad in dead rubbers. Then we know who to drop and replace next series as well as giving valuable experience to some. And we can work out who should be our third pacer now there isnt hasan to bail the attack out.

New zealand struggle more with spin than pace, probably wouldnt have been a bad option to have nawaz in before given shadab was doing alright.

Very happy, wish they did this more often.

That is the expected scenario but I am having trouble believing that our whole team management is completely inept and decided that three pacers are fine for a five ODI series in NZ, along with the lack of dynamism in the top-order.

All the talk from the management seems to conflict with the selections. Very uninspiring.

If everyone was in agreement about the squad then they need to realise their mistakes and fast.

This is the same team management which played one spinner in the 2 tests in UAE even though they were given 3 spinners by the selectors.

Touche.

However, that was in Tests where they were unsure of the right combination to start with. Also, Arthur is known for being more comfortable with pacers. Just doesn't stand to reason that everyone was content with a squad consisting of three pacers for a tour of NZ, specially when our ODI team has recently often played three front-line pacers plus Faheem as the norm.

When you have rank turners, the decision to play atleast 2 spinners instead of 3 seamers is an obvious no brainer and Inzi gave them 3 full time spinners in that squad. Inzi has selected plenty of youngsters in the squad. To blame him alone will be going to far, i didn't hear any complaints from Mickey Arthur or Sarfaraz about the squad they were given.

There is no message being sent. The bowlers and batsmen have been rested to try out the bench strength. The players were selected in consultation with the captain and coach, so they were well aware of what they were getting.

your last comment is interesting:
"this bowling lineup doesn't really look international class"

so Sarfraz should have stuck with the international class attack of Amir and Hassan - after everything they have accomplished in the series

we can't complain about not giving chances to youngsters all series, and then complain again when the chance is finally given

just pick a side

Well, they certainly surpassed all expectations. A great effort after a horrible first few overs.

Perhaps they had the motivation that the likes of Amir were lacking?

Could be.

Perhaps I was completely wrong and the new players are actually in a far better frame of mind and will lead us to victory! :yk2
Waaaaa.... resting outdated, non-performing and injured seniors for deserving youngsters on bench doing drink duty would result in greater team motivation for victory, performance, and hunger to prove themselves on a global platform?

There are some clear Selection howlers.

Poor old Imam ul Haq, he seems like a really nice guy but his career has been put into jeapordy by being selected for a poor Sri Lanka series, and was exposed to be an average ODI paced player. He is a decent player and should be selected for Test cricket.

7, may be 8, at most 9 players of these squads (combined) should be in WC team - otherwise it'll become AUS 2000 V3.0

Don't know who is behind the squad, but if it's a well consulted squad, then I have to agree Ul Haq is a changed man.
