Update on Pakistan national men’s team’s training programme

Lahore, 9 June 2020:

Taking into account the Covid-19 outlook in Pakistan in the coming weeks, the operational and logistical matters as well the observation that keeping players in a safe and secure environment would remain a challenge, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided not to hold a training camp of the national men’s team prior to their departure for England.

The PCB is already in discussions with the ECB to bring forward their early July departure date for England so the Pakistan squad can benefit from the additional practice time there.

More details around the pre-tour Covid-19 testing of the players and player support personnel, assembling them in Lahore and their training/match schedule will be shared in due course.

The PCB, meanwhile, has reminded the players to not to practice at cricket grounds during this period and that they must observe and adhere to strict social distancing protocols. These instructions have been issued as their personal wellbeing and that of their families remains paramount.

So defeat is now a foregone conclusion.

Pakistan drew 2-2 in England in 2016 by having a camp prior to departure and arriving a month before the first game. Remember their press-ups?

Pakistan drew 1-1 in England in 2018 by arriving a month early and playing a Test in Ireland as well as side matches in England.

Now this time they are doing nothing?

I get that the NCA only has 21 bedrooms. So pick the top 15 Test players and accommodate them.

This is just stupid, a completely unprofessional decision.

We see now that it was Mickey Arthur who wanted to arrive early and acclimatise.

We are far behind the curve. PCB not following covid19 guidelines and now no training camp.

Without adequate preparation we don't have much chance.

Well this tour is a guarantee failure for us. No planning before hand or training will hurt our chances of victory.

Too bad they never do the same for Australia tour too.

LAHORE, Jun 10 Pakistan Cricket Board headquarter has once again been closed down at the Gadaffi stadium owing of rapid growth of Coronavirus cases here in the provincial metropolis.

The PCB office was opened on June 3 last week and now Boards authorities have decided to close the office again as Lahore has seen a record number of increase in corona cases in recent days.

The headquarter was previously closed on March 17 after an out break of COVID-19, and remained closed for more than two months and all the employees were working from home.

At that time only most essential staff were allowed to come to office which was functioning from 10am to 4pm, said a spokesman of the PCB while talking to APP here on Wednesday.

“The headquarter has now been closed till June 21 and all employees will again be doing their day to day work from home “, he said.

Pakistan will play two four-day internal warm-up matches before the Tests against England.

Unlike the last two tours, the preparation has been a total shambles. Will be surprised if we get anything from this tour.

ECB "All members of the tour party will have been tested prior to travel. Those who are testing positive for COVID-19 will not be permitted to travel with the advance group on Sunday."

Ok cause we don’t play for ages, can the players who tested positive join the squad after woods? Obviously after being all clear and spending time in quarantine

Yes.

Six of the ten players who tested positive initially tested negative today. They can join the squad later once another test is conducted and it comes out negative.

More players will probably join.

They can tweak things a bit and play 10 a side anyway. Just practice, nothing official.

Hopefully the 5 players who got tested negative have another test by wednesday and get on the plane by the 4th

And play the practise matches by 21st when they have quarantined for 2 years and play 2 games 4 days
