Don't rate him personally. Inzi used to overbowl him and that's why he has so many wickets but I never thought he had the zip and guile of a great spinner. I'll put him at 6 though

One of the most overrated bowlers of all time. Never really was a game changer like Yasir or Ajmal (worse than Abdul Rehman too). Gave out a lot of easy runs. And mainly did well against weaker sides. Yes he had talent, but not much of a bowling plan. Wish we tried out other spinners instead of him.

It's only when the likes of Yasir and Ajmal came in, in came to realise just how mediocre he is. Before the spinner for us was just simply a supporting bowler. Not any more.

He played when there was a dearth of quality spinners in Pakistan so that was another factor. That plus he was in inzi's good books and inzi played favorites.

Misbah never got till inzi was in charge

yes England (2005 one), atg Australia, SA etc were mediocre sides

When Kaneria was playing we would have Akhtar, Asif etc and Kaneria would play the holding role and keep one end locked while the pacers attacked from the other end. He didnt play the strike role like Ajmal, Yasir

Also Pakistani wickets arent as conducive to spin as UAE

1. Saqlain
2. Yasir
3. Qadir
4. Mushtaq
5. Kaneria

Yasir will surpass Saqlain next year or so.

Talent wise Saqlain was at the top. He has been the 2nd best off spinner in history (after Murli), and his bowling in WC99 and overall in his short career was a treat to watch. Loved the energy (he retired too young) and skills he showcased.

Followed by:
Mushi
Ajmal
Qadir
Yasir

Likes of Saqi and Mushi werent carrying their teams respective attacks they were bowling with ATGs like the Two Ws they were a complimentary tool to the main strike bowlers.

Qadir had I.K and later on Waz.

Since the start of Misbahs tenure we have switched to relying on spinners as being our main matchwinners. So Yasir and Ajmal have had a lot different type of pressure on them especially bowling with a lot weaker bowling attacks than the likes of Saqi Qadir and Mushi.

Even Ajmal had a very good spin twin in Rehman and Zulfi when he wasnt past it.

I think Yasir is our biggest pure match winner as far as spin bowlers go in Test Cricket. If only he had one world class pacer with him. Or a good spin twin with him.

Yasir will end up as the GOAT amongst Pakistani spinners.

Never saw abdul qadir , tauseef ahmed and iqbal qasim bowl. Heard that three were very good. Abdul qadir was definitely superior than the other two.

Saqlain before his overuse of doosra and injury was superb , i would rate him alongside greame swann. Kaneria was supremely talented but was used badly by inzi and co.
Mushtaq is very underrated though , and i believe he was not finished when he was dropped. He went on to become almost a county legend after pakistan dropped him. But still he deserved to be dropped after having performed poorly at international arena.

Imo saqlain was the best pakistani test spinner.

With out Abdul Qadir there is no Yasir Shah.

There was a time, we were mesmerized to see an action like that. All his arm swinging before he bowled, the bounced he had... he revived Leg-spin in modern day cricket.

Kaneria got proper guidance from a learned leggie Warnie too late.

In the last 2 years of his Int/domestic Cricket he altered his runup & action. His control, spin, dip all improved massively. Just as he hit his peak He was banned.

At similar age Shane Warne & Kaneria had similar international and FC statistics.

Kaneria's best ever List A seasons were his last 2. Remember List A was his weakest format. Watched him bowl live for HBL when he took his career best 6-fer at age 31. He was a treat to watch.

Saqlain was high quality before both his knees were gone. Still he shouldn't have been dumped. He retained his fitness and once again was amongst the wickets at County level. Best Offie we produced.

Mushtaq was phenomenal for 2-3 seasons than he had consistentcy problems.

Ajmal was excellent before the 12 matches County stinct destroyed him. Anyhow age had caught up aswell.

Qadir underachieved massively.

Will rate them once Yasir retires. Hope Yasir continues his A* performances for next many years.
