ISLAMABAD: Pakistan would be hosting three international tennis tournaments this year with each having a cash prize of $15,000.

According to Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Secretary Sanaullah Aman, the three tournaments would be held in November and December.

“Foreign players would be seen in action in these events while International Tennis Federation (ITF) officials would also be visiting here,” he said.

He said more courts would also be prepared for these international tournaments. He also praised ITF for allotting Pakistan these three international tournaments.

“ITF would also give more international events to Pakistan after successful holding of these three tournaments,” he said.

He said foreign players would be provided with fool-proof security and invitations would soon be sent to foreign players for participation in international tournaments.

Speaking about Pakistan-Thailand Davis Cup Group II final, he said he has high hopes for the team to do well in Davis Cup. – APP

Pakistan lead 2-0 against Thailand in Davis Cup group finals

Pakistan led the fist day of the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-II final against Thailand played at the grass courts of Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, by 2-0.

In the first match, which lasted for an hour and 46 minutes, Pakistan's Aqeel Khan beat Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul of Thailand by 3-0 (6-3, 6-4, 6-4).

In the second match, Aisam-ul-Haq outclassed Thailand's Kittiphong Wachiramanowong 3-0 (6-1, 6-0, 6-4).

Speaking to media after the end of the matches, Aisam said he wasn't expecting such an easy contest against his Thai counterpart.

“We had a huge advantage playing on the grass court, but it would have been a tougher competition if we had played on clay,” he said.

Aqeel said the duo was under pressure because of the home crowd but they played positively and won their matches.

What players will be participating in these tournaments? Andy Murray?

I doubt it. Probably lower level players. A cash prize of $15,000 is mentioned in the OP, which is probably barely a fraction of what top players earn for simply showing up at any ATP event.

regarding the tournament is it a atp 500/250/100/50 event?

There are two main bodies in tennis that oversee the events played during the year. The Grand Slams and Davis Cup (this is an annual team based tournament throughout the year based on leagues where countries participate) are under the vestiges of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and all the other tournaments like the ATP Finals, M1000s and lower are under the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

I'm not aware of other ITF events than Grand Slams and Davis Cup ties such as the one going on between Pakistan and Thailand, but rest assured no top players will play in an event in Pakistan anytime soon because of security and financial reasons.
