That must have taken some insane amount of cognitive dissonance, to label Indian behavior as professional while Pakistan as toddler or whatever.

India has been invoking force majeure for a decade or longer. Pakistan just started doing it. Not to mention the handshake stuff, or the trophy stuff. Have a look in the mirror before talking. This is the classic "when we do it it's Mujra, when you do it it's dancing" kind of post.
 
IMO the PCB shouldn’t agree to play unless they get some substantial assurance like the resumption of test cricket between the two countries. Otherwise the whole fiasco will go down in history like this: “the Pak government threatened to not play against India in the 2026 T20WC but later backtracked under pressure. The ICC officials flew to Lahore and offered the PCB and BCB a bag of chips and they agreed.” I’m not joking.

Resumption of bilateral ties is a reasonable demand by the PCB, but they are directing it at the ICC, which is not the appropriate authority. Individual boards are responsible for planning and arranging bilateral matches, not the ICC. Boards only report to the ICC once everything is finalized, after which the ICC assigns its officials and oversees the process.

Considering this may be the last time India and Pakistan are placed in the same group in an ICC event, the ICC is likely to offer some concessions to the PCB, and the India–Pakistan match will take place. Naqvi will save face for now, but in the future the PCB is likely to face strict action or backlash from the BCCI and ICC for attempting to avoid an India–Pakistan encounter.

Not sure if the broadcasters will agree to India and Pakistan being placed in different groups, it is pretty clear that 40-50% of the ICC broadcast revenue, sponsorship money and money made in India during Indo Pak games during ICC tournaments is because of the Indo Pak game in the ICC tournament. The broadcasters and commercial partners will never agree to this, its easy for the BJP govt and Indian nationalists to talk about not playing with Pakistan during an ICC event but money ultimately talks.

As of now the forfeit still stands

By now it is clear 40-50% of ICC and Indian economy money during ICC events is a result of the India Pakistan game and there is no way the Indian broadcaster will agree to putting money in an ICC event without Indo Pak ties.

You are underestimating the pettiness and vindictiveness character of people in the subcontinent.

Consider:

BCCI expels a player as some sort of a power play response to a political situation.

BCB ended up giving up an entire WC in response to the expulsion of a single player in a private league.

PCB takes a joyride with what is essentially not its direct business.

Greed is universal, but so is stupidity.

BCCI/ICC must have some backup plan, which is why they’re so confident about not putting Pakistan and India in the same group. Maybe they’ll arrange things so that at least one Pakistan–India match happens in every future ICC event after the group stage. This way, BCCI/ICC can avoid the blame of deliberately putting Pakistan and India in the same group.

Even the most optimistic reading of the situation will get Pakistan nowhere near that.

Bilateral series at this juncture are an utter impossibility as I'm sure even you can see from the political environment.

The best that can be done from what I can see is for Pakistan to be promised a share closer to England and Australia i.e 6.5% or so compared to the 5.75% it gets in this round. That's a nice 15% increase or about $5m annually assuming the deal stays at around the same current level. They can shave about 0.2% each from Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand and South Africa.

Even this will require an ICC general meeting and will be a very contentious discussion.

I think it depends on how much influence the Ambanis have and how much risk the BCCI is willing to take with the financials of world cricket (since it's own are reasonably secure).

The BCCI has been pretty conservative for a long time now - incremental rather radical steps. They'll be happy to continue steadily squeezing and marginalising political rivals like PCB and BCB but I don't see them taking a big risk like this and letting the dice fall where they may.

In my reading, they'll compromise as long as the concessions are small and mostly symbolic.

Shaking hands is the only one thing that may be agreed to as it can be considered a genuine request. I am not sure PCB's other blackmail demands will be met. IT is in bad faith. Holding smaller nations to ransom. India , Australia, England will not feel a pinch even if pakistan goes through with it. It will be the smaller nations and PCB itself will get the raw end of the stick. That includes their "naive" friend Srilanka.

Actually these opportunities don't come often so i am not surprised if everything is being discussed now including revenue share too. Once this moment goes, PCB won't be in a similar position of bargaining power soon. This was a tough stance and they have earned themseves a bargain now. ICC and BCCI would be wise to gove them somethign substancial so they can keep Pakistani awaam happy.
 
This reminds of negotiations with my employers in the past after giving resignation. I loved being in a position of power and being unafraid. One time however my employer just accepted it and let me go. It didn't go according to plan for me.

It feels like groundwork to later tell their audience, “These were Pakistan’s conditions and we couldn’t agree,” and use that as the reason for no India vs Pakistan match.

Don't get me wrong, India pak matches are fun... in a guilty pleasure kind of way.

Like watching big boss, you watch it for the guilty pleasure of watching Pak lose match after match.

As long India reaches finals, I am happy.

Pakistan has not made any demands related to themselves, rather all demands have been put forward with respect to Bangladesh.

Frankly, I don’t agree with this as we had shown enough support for Bangladesh already, but Naqvi has really gone out of his way to accommodate Bangladesh here.

ICC has been asked to reconsider issues related to sanctions on Bangladesh and the participation financial benefits allotted to them through this tournament.

If Indian media is lying I'm sure Naqvi will expose it when the time comes. Just like when he exposed the lies of him apologizing to BCCI and all other boards for while Asia Cup trophy drama

Another chooran sell in Pakistan, The ICC will not impose any sanctions nor will Bangladesh's revenue be stopped. 🤣🤣🤣

It would have been possible if BCB had filed a case with the ICC Disputes Committee, but Bangladesh quietly accept the BCCICC decison the expelled from the tournament without any drama.

In BCB case "Force Majeure clause" is applicable so they already saved from penalty.

Pakistan is a big name in World Cricket, and it's alot of money involved here as everyone knows, so it's normal that ICC will go and convice PCB to play. This is not called begging. But the real issue will be if Pakistan plays against India after fist saying it wont.

In India, BCCI always refer to the indian gov, and PCB should do that as well, and our gov should stand by it's decision of not to play, otherwise they have only themselves to blame, no excuses of begging shegging. Faisla liya hai, ab uss par tikk kar dikahao, we are all supporting you, so don't disappoint us now!
