No player deserves 8, after a 3-0, with 6 days holiday out of 15. This is my rating
Fakhar Zaman 1/10 - didn't deserve points, but he is making a come back from "injury"
Imam Ul Haq 3/10 - whatever did had luck associated with it. A decent catching by SAF would have chopped his 50 & 43 in to single digit. And, for a young players, managed to convince Sarfraz that CS's nephew shouldn't field at risky spots.
Shan Masood 7.5/10 - played brilliantly, better than stats; was unlucky to be out in 1st Test, when looking set for a good innings. For the tallest guy of a vertically challenged squad, Sarfraz decided to make him suffer at short leg, earns 0.5 extra for that.
Azhar Ali (-1)/10 Should be dropped. Nothing in batting, rather stagnated the innings after good start both times and got out exactly wrong time every innings. Managed to bully Sarfraz to post him at 1st slip, at a comfortable distance, and might have cost PAK's slimmest chance of winning one Test. Have to take some point out - zero is too generous after 10 years of cricket.
Babar Azam 7/10 - on batting skills, highest order, Kohli/AB isque from last year. Played some of the best shots of the year, and was screwed by management to be wasted at 6 with tail starting just after him. But, didn't convert starts and cost PAK 2 possible wins - 1st Test and 3rd Test; particularly 3rd Test, when in 1st innings he should have stayed with Shadab & Fahim to take the total as close as possible.
Asad Shafiq 5.5/10 - failed measurably in 1st Test, but played two of the best innings in the series; could have made it really tough for SAF in 2nd Test. Extra half points for catching - best slip fielder in world. On batting & fielding merit should get 6.5, but loses half for celebrating 88 when team was losing and another half for serial failure in 1st innings, when it matters.
Sarfraz Ahmed 2.5/10 - Kept decent - nothing spectacular but didn't mess up regulations, should have stood up against Abbas after his 1st spells, so 3 points out of 4 for that; 2 fifties & 3 ducks - it normalizes, but I give extra half for the 1st 50 coming at 54/5, take that half for the pair in 1st Test - just another 35 in combined innings, it could have been grand. Loses extra half for running mouth after 2nd Test. Expected Captaincy - so no loss, no gain.
Shadab Khan 6/10 - played only Test, and got the best wicket for his game; batted well, bowled reasonable. 6 is actually very good for this series, would have got 7 had he played one more Test.
Faheem Ashraf 5/10 - Good bowling, expected batting. Looses one point for that 1st innings shot.
Mohammad Amir 7.5/10 - my player of the series for PAK. Gave everything, and bowled heart out; but needs to contribute with bat a bit more - another 20-25 from his bat in 1st Test could have made it interesting. Not fit enough to lead Test side, but he should be PAK Captain for WC - managed press conference professionally.
Mohammad Abbas 5.5/10 - Clearly wasn't fit, so gets extra 0.5 points for the effort; was a bit unlucky as well with drop catches. Gets extra 1 point for that batting effort - put Azhar & Sarfraz in shame. PAK team needs such big heart players.
Hasan Ali 4.5/10 - expected series with bat & ball. Shouldn't have played at J'burg. But when in rhythm, bowled well.
Shaheen Afridi 7/10 - only ray of hope from this series. If he needed rest, then PAK should have dropped him at Cape Town which is the slowest & lowest of the 3 venues. His stats would have been better had he played at J'burg. Looses half point for losing pace after 1st spell, which suggests, young-man has taken Test cricket lightly. Had he played & performed in 3rd Test, would have been my MoS for PAK.
Yasir Shah 0/10 - most insignificant player, as if he didn't existed. Screwed by his batsmen, who didn't give him something to defend and by Captain as well. Horrible batting attitude - needs a double demotion in Central contract. Someone playing 5-6 games in a year can't be so poor with bat & fitness.
Mickey Arthur 4/10 - found nothing that could suggests that guy has 35 years of experience in SAF condition. Played Yasir at Centurion, then dropped Shaheen at Wonderars, batted Fakhar as opener(but he failed at 6 as well), batted Babar at 5/6 and Azhar at 4. Overall bowling picks were not satisfactory, particularly not using Fahim in 1st Test and playing for gallery was nauseating - there was no need to criticize SAF wickets. But, gets 4 because I do realize what this PAK side is capable of under a Deshi great as Guru Dronacharya.
