Pakistan are using videos of New Zealander Trent Boult's destruction of England at Auckland in March to plan the demise of Joe Root's team later this month.

Coach Mickey Arthur has made his bowlers sit down and watch the way Boult aimed for a full length with the new ball to expose England's non-existent footwork, reducing them to 27 for nine after removing Alastair Cook for five, Dawid Malan for two, and both Joe Root and Ben Stokes for ducks.

He finished with six for 32 as England were dismissed for 58, and Arthur wants Pakistan's bowlers - especially Boult's fellow left-armers Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali - to follow suit as they aim for a first Test series win in this country since 1996.

With the first day of the historic Test between Ireland and Pakistan at Malahide ruined by the weather, the likes of Amir and Ali will have to wait to test out their strategy on the Irish batsmen. But the plans are in place for the two matches against England at Lord's and Headingley.

'You don't often see teams 27 for nine,' Arthur told Sportsmail. 'It was bizarre. But I did marvel at the spell of swing bowling from Trent Boult. We used it in our bowlers' meeting on Thursday, when we looked at the lengths they should bowl.

'Our bowlers have been great, but our lengths have just been a little bit short. That's common with subcontinental teams who come to England.

'It's getting that length right. We've been working on that since the game against Kent, and we've solidified that by showing them Trent Boult's performance.'

Meanwhile, the new Australian coach Justin Langer has admitted he would have tampered with the ball in his early days as a Test cricketer if instructed to do so by a senior team-mate.

With Cricket Australia in the middle of an investigation into the events that led to the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town and bans for Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, Langer admitted: 'If Allan Border had asked me to tamper with the ball, I would have.'

'I would have, because I would be too scared not to. The difference is Allan Border would never have asked me and [coach] Bobby Simpson would have killed me.

'He would've killed anyone who brought the game into disrepute. What I can't believe is that Cameron Bancroft walked into the Australian cricket team and he was in a position where he made that decision.'

Must be a problem else he wouldnt have mentioned it!

The most answerable person to this question is Azhar Mahmood to be honest, if they need to see footage to know what it means to bowl full then what's the point of having a bowling coach?

honestly reckon our bowlers have a mental block, so afraid of being hit for a boundary that they don't want to bowl full.

Amir of course is the worst offender given we know what he can do if he pitches it up.

I think its also compounded by the UAE, more often than not bowling full as a pacer is sucidial unless there is reverse on offer.

Yes and how smart to tell the world what you are doing. not that Joe Root might be watching the video himeself

Think Mickey should be more concerned about what Anderson and Broad are viewing when they watch videos of our batsmen!
