What's new

Pakistan v Australia | 2nd ODI | Dubai | 24/4/09 | Aus Inngs

Asad Rauf just letting the Pakistan fielders know to not bounce the ball in the dirt when throwing the ball back to the bowler or wicket keeper.

4 to Ferguson. Top shot. Floated up and struck through extra cover.

poor delivery from Afridi - floating half volley.

4 runs

But still after this match u can say with ease that afridi should remain in the team and that akhtar is tooo unlucky :(

Akhtar is not match fit at all. His fielding is awful. You can't get some one in the playing XI who is so unfit for fielding. he has given atleast 6-8 runs today in his poor fielding.

Did you guys notice Symonds pink bat handle?

It's for the McGrath Foundation that Jane and Glenn McGrath set up to provide funding for breast cancer research. Sadly the illness claimed Jane's life before a cure was found.

It's all but over. Good try by the bowlers. Batsman failed although some good knocks by Afridi and Akhtar (and Butt)

Let's get this over with quickly so I can get back to work - wasted so much time following this when I was supposed to be working :D

Younis will regret taking off the spinners when Clarke and Symonds came to the crease...

So game kinda over.

The culprit to me is Pakistani Openers who didn't use the power plays at all. 32 in the first 10 overs of the power play and 20 odd runs in the second power play is just criminal for current ODI standard. They had not lost so many wickets at that time to play with such a lower run rate.

Fielding was definitely a difference between the two teams.

From what I read Australia gave more chances to Pakistan. I think two catches and a simple runout missed

Ahmed Shahzads wicket might have turned out to be more crucial than we think. He could have used the powerplay much better than Butt. If we're gonna open with Butt and have Younis at 3, we need an aggressive opener to partner Butt, otherwise we might regularly see scores of 30/1 after 10 overs.

Australia was as poor as Pakistan in fielding today. The difference was the talent. Australia's second string is more talented than Pakistan's first string. Horrible but truth.

I just checked the scorecard.. Butt 57 runs in 112 balls ! My god.. never seen such a slow score from an opener since Ravi Shastri played in 1992 world cup against England.

Yep. His poor running and slow batting really cost us the wickets of Shehzad, Younis, and Malik.

We need more variety in the pace department. Tanvir really needs to play, in place of either Akhtar or Rao. Arafat could also be brought in. We shouldn't rely so heavily on the spinners.

Thats true.

But I am talking about ground fielding and Pakistan was not there today. There were lot of 2's that should have been a single. During the time when spinners were going Symmo and Clark took it easy and keep taking singles and 2's when the ball was with Akhatar.

Some cash-prizes being given away. Unimportant ones, for hitting the board, for the number of fours struck etc. Andrew Symonds, unsurprisingly, is the Man of the Match.

What was the purpose of having Minadad and the other two guys there? They did nothing.

how many guys were there? Looks like 5-6 if only 3 didn't do anything.
I saw one with 10 people on stage in Karachi. That is the proper Valima party.
