People whine about bringing new people but there's just no talent. These are the best openers. Other options are Shehzad and Imam.

Where are those going after Hafeez?

Babar and Hafeez have the best timing and shot making ability in Pakistan.

They play excellent textbook shots. Extremely effortless. Sheer timing. Beauty to watch! That elegance.

Hafeez's strike rate has improved in this innings like his average has improved throughout his career.

Just saw Pakistans group at the WT20 2020. Aus, NZ, WI. It will be extremely difficult to progress.. Ind will have a much easier task.
 
Bangladesh ace fast bowler Mustafiz would not get into Pakistan b team at the moment. Yet we are consistently told that our cricket is years behind other countries.

You're being quite emotional and incomprehensible.

None of the names you mentioned have anything to do with today's cricket. There's no better alternative than Kami and Sharjeel for the openers slot. Plus, Kami just topped the domestic charts. Chill.

That's fine, as long as he can win us tournaments like CT final with his shot making and hitting ability. In Aus too he'll love the ball coming on to the bat nicely for world T20.

Our batting stocks are still pretty poor tbh. We cannot rely on the likes of Hafeez or Malik. Bangla is a minnow. The fears are true if we play a stronger team.

I'm not sure you have seen the size of boundaries in Australia. Plus the outfield isn;t as quick there either. You can't survive in Australia without strike rotation.

Don't come up with twisted logic. His job is to score and score fast in T20s.

That's what he can do with ease and thanks to his timing, no ground is too big for him.
 
Seriously if Pak selected players on merit and not connections and favorutism there is enough talent to challenge the best teams.

I seem to recall you saying a couple of months ago that Misbah was the only person who was brave enough to drop the useless Hafeez and Malik, now this. Where is your own though process?

When these two are batting together, that is the time to tune into the match.


SHEER CLASS. Elegance. Timing. Textbook shots.

Youngsters need to learn shot-making from these two.

Also SRL will be added to the pak group as they are the most likely team to finish no.1 in the prelims group

That's what the demand of an average person here was. I was pointing out they're still not happy after those decisions.

Dropping Malik is in our interest. Must be done. Hafeez is needed for WT20.
 
Very exiting times for Pakistan now in fast bowling departments:

Shaheen
Naseem
Hasnain
Aamir
Rauf

All 5 should be in the T20 WC squad.
 
Pakistan should take Hafeez to WT20 he can play big shots. But don't take Malik to Australia he averages about 17 or 18 in Australia & that was in his prime. Even Kamran, Umar, etc would be much better choice.

Hafeez who has played 5 T20 World Cups and averages 20 at a strike-rate of 105 is the man to invest in for the next T20 World Cup at the age of 40 where he will turn it all around and suddenly start delivering on the biggest stage.

Have to say as said earlier irrespective of whether we want to except it or not that Hafeez and Malik are better in T20s than most batsmen we have tried. Yes one can argue why Umar Akmal was selected when he was only to be given two matches and why Hussain Talat wasnt given another go post good national T20 cup.

In T20s we dont have much options. In ODIs we have comparatively a much settled younger lineup which doesnt require services of Hafeez and Malik.
 
win the toss and bat first on a flat deck to score 136 against Pakistan, who are trying a completely raw bowling attack

If Shakib and Mushfiq played they would have scored 220+

Already told you, the ancient history does not apply to recent form.

He's our 2nd best batsman since 2017 (won us the CT final too!). On ability too, there's nobody better apart from Babar.

The best T20 batsman after babar is Malik. And probably Hafeez after that. Umar Akmal should be in the top 2 after Babar but the guy cant seem to get a proper run out there

You are completely correct that he has been poor in T20 WC however, I cant pin point another player as well who will stand up at the stage like World T20. Its difficult to completely ignore bilateral performances and decide on the basis of ICC tournament stats. Yes he has failed on such a stage on multiple occasions but if we dont have a player or the ones we select dont perform in bilaterals, its difficult to select them.

Definitely not an ideal situation to be in at all but I guess whatever best can be made out of the situation should be tried.

He needs to bat lower at around 5 or 6 and come in towards back end so he can play his shots. He can play shots but he most of times never tends to up the order and does later if he stays in. Coming at 5/6 last 7/8 overs he should be told go play your shots.

Yes, but he was abusing Misbah for selecting Hafeez. It's for me even if Babar wanted him. But, people here aren't abusing Babar, they were abusing Misbah for selecting Hafeez.
