ODI is the most tactical game - had it been a T20, PAK already had won by now, but ODI is extremely strategic game. As they say, you chase by pieces - i am a bit surprised today because Malik is good in such situations, may be he mistimed that shot today; otherwise could have won it. Sarfraz was fighting a lost battle - not much blame.
 
We are again a team that gets out without playing 50 overs.
I don't understand why we play such gung ho style cricekt but surely its got something to do with out most popular player in the history bat like this.
 
All that praise for positive batting an intent and we're going to be bowled out at like 275 with 10 overs left. That's actually terrible.
 
Another brain ****, like seriously they've no gear in between, just block and smack, what about the rotation of strike? This is just easy catching practice for Englishmen, really frustrating!

Buddy you got to understand it. Why this continuous shuffling in the batting. Not defending his shot but we need to get it correct. We can't play two keepers in the top order only because he is a good fielder and not the continuos shuffling in the batting order.
Saifi could have done better there tbh

Malik only survives when he gets 2-3 repreives. Hardly ever scored a chanceless 100. There is a reason he has only 6 throughout his 15 year Odi career.
 
If they had sent Irfan at 3 down as I had suggested before, we would had a better batsman coming on now.

Its got something to do with Afridi being our most popular player.

Malik didn't got underneath the ball and it hit his inside half of the bat. But i am disappointed that either one of them should take charge. Anwar ali or Sarfraz. They should decide it. But unfortunately that didn't happened.
Coaches should send message from outside to make sure that they keep their heads together and act accordingly to situation.

What a disappointing end.
Seriously Irfan has 11 overs to bat.

Why do we always do this? Why are our batsmen in a hurry to get out and let the tailenders pkay the rest of the overs.

This game is just a formality now like ffs I am fuming today.
 
Irfan shouldn't be selected at all if he cant even swing his bat! This is ridiculous! Now Anwar Ali will play all the deliveries and the run rate will climb!
 
Besides Azhar and Rizwan, all have gifted their wickets via slogs (and Hafeez run out). The RRR never even went over 8. Really poor tactically, I agree. Perhaps they don't have the ability to understand the numbers... in which case they need to be alerted to the situation.

Precisely, this has been such a farcical run chase tactically, no middle ground or understanding of the situation, just plain blind slogging from ball 1. Why couldn't Waqar sent a massage out during drinks break asking them to calm down and access the situation.

Leave it for other day - PAK lost to the worst ODI side hands down on favourable condition & Malik wasn't among the worst 7 players in the team. I give you another data point - in 63 innings at top 4 Malik has 6 hundreds, 5 of them against top 6 sides & none after 2010 - only Zaheer Abbas has a better stay for PAK - beat that.

This is a pathetic PAK unit, probably their worst in history - Malik is among few players who can return back with head high. PAK won only 1 match - check who was the match turner, MoHa deservingly won mom, but after that none has done anything.
 
Pakistan at the end of the day didn't get anywhere close. What is the purpose of positive batting up front and a long tail if they are going to bat for just 41 overs

By that logic Malik the senior most batsmen in our side gets out for a useless 50. And holing out to a deep batsman. Having played since the Inzi era he should be doing better than that.

Inzamam and Moyo would never get out like this they would stay till the end.. He was the most experienced of the lot. He got out after playing an Afridi like innings and you can forgive Babar coz he is young but not Malik.



Malik can only do what he did against Zimbabwe in the second odi last month but not against any big team.

The domestic Bradman had everything in bis favor and he is the most experience while chasing and always does it in domestic tournaments.
 
It's tough to chase in UAE, therefore kudos for the effort. These re lost matches - but I am more disappointed with the 3rd match.

Any way, this match has done more damage in other way - I am sure Azhar has kept his chair & Anwar might be carried for his 24.
 
Played England. That was a really good effort given that Stokes, Finn and Wood were all insured.

Nice to see the improvement in the England ODI game under Strauss . That's eight wins and six losses since the WC disaster, with twelve of those matches against the first- and second-ranked sides.

I can see you don't look at the data - what you are saying is absolutely opposite, most cases - it's easy now days, use stat guru.

I give a hint - his career average against top 7 side is better than over all; his career average is better in 2nd innings, his career average is better in wins & his career average is highest at 3 & 4.

No fan boy thing, I have passed that age - but don't go by idiots posting garbage by cherry picking; you can check yourself by stat guru.

Well played England, they look like a different unit. Made the necessary changes and this team can even challenge India in India, almost won it against the Aussies. Good fightback by Pakistan, Pakistan missing out a quality bowler, I never thought I was going to say that, boy how the times have changed.
