When will Pakistan learn that Imam ul Haq is NOT a LOI batsman*♂️

At least there’s no Faheem Ashraf…

Fakhar Zaman
Imam ul Haq
Babar Azam (c)
Saud Shakeel
Mohammad Rizwan (wk)
Ifthikar Ahmed
Shadab Khan
Hassan Ali
Haris Rauf
Shaheen Afridi
Usman Qadir

Zahid Mahmood will never get picked ahead of the captains best friend.

Imam only has been successful in ODi cricket, He is not T20 material. He may come good in tests. But his average for Odi is above 50.

Do posters here not care if a players average is inflated significantly due to playing against minnows?

Imam ul Haq’s average drops below 40 vs Top 5 in ODI’s, which is fine but having a strike rate of 76 is not ok at all.

Why should Pakistan settle for a player who averages 39 @ 76 when there’s openers who average the same but with a much better strike rate.

Biggest complaint about him is his consumption of dots during the powerplay session.

Pak should easily win this. There is absolutely no star player/match winner in the NZ team.

Fair criticism for sure.

I don't think he will ever be a high SR player or be confused with one but for a current Pakistani team that has a middle order consistently collapsing, he does make sense... for now. He will need to improve his SR a bit and is still young in his career.

SR of 71 in 13 UAE matches is really dragging him down and while his SR isn't exactly great in England or SA but 80+ is at least acceptable and has a good average in both of those conditions.

He still needs to improve on his strike rotation in the powerplay but he is not hopeless.

This is why they should have tried Abdullah against a weeker opposition

Imam needs to try and find some gaps in the field instead of dot balls , not necessarily boundaries but even twos and threes would keep his strike rate in the 85 - 90 zone. He is a kind of player who would be looking to around 40 - 50 runs of 65 balls or so , and then should look to play some bigger shots and get things moving.

Once he gets a start he needs to go deep.

In the nets practicing against the short ball:

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 55.000%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/iy8hia" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

This slab should be either placed at different distances to practice awkward bounce, or they should increase the length of this slot, which could be more replicable of match situation.

now i know why these guys fail against short pitch bowling despite practice. There should be some thought process

Since there is no DRS; I hope our umpires can favor us with few close calls

Whats the point of this practice, when the batsman :

1) Knows where the slab is (and from where different bounce will come)
2) Knows what the bowler is going to bowl
3) No fielders (obviously nets).. So you never know whether the shot you tried is going for a boundary or you are getting out

That's garbage.

Finn Allen and Will Young are match winners.

I have lost all hope with this team in last 2 years
whenever I think this is their lowest, they produce much more embarrassing performances

Yeah? I haven't heard of them. Will watch out for them today. Are they usually in the main XI?

Now that I think of it, Latham is not entirely bad either.

Finn Allen and Will Young will make up the core of the batting for the next decade.

Finn is a fearless stroke player, in the McCullum role but with more power. Tends to go overboard at times but he plays some really incredible shots.

Young scored a couple of 100s in Aus against a pretty full strength Aus bowling line up in a A tour before the 2019 WC. Hasn't featured as much due to injury.

Exactly they are..they have henry who ripped us apart. Have de grondholme who loves us..lathom n nichols are better than all our batters. I sae rajindra bowl v well against bangladesh and he is an opener. Ajaz patel is pretty good too

Excellent. I love McCullum's brand of cricket.

Thanks for sharing the info on these guys.
