Pakistan should have gotten 200 given the start they had. Babar should have much higher standards, he shouldn't be celebrating like a debutant scoring a century against a depleted NZ side.

Anyone who has an iota of it cricketing sense or intelligence knows that a good middle order bat is needed to stay in the middle as a backbone of a team instead of promoting to open where the team will be most vulnerable to collapse if failed. There is a bigger chance of failure while opening vs batting in the middle.

Another opener could go up instead of Babar with Babar coming in at 3. It would give a quicker start and Babar has the class to do whatever he did there coming in at 3. It's better for the team. That would also elongate the innings.

Like I've always said- Babar is a superstar in Pakistan. The fans inside the ground and their voices are the evidence. Babar is loved and valued where it matters.

What is the record of all Pakistan t20 openers bar babar?
Pls. Have compare some stats. Share some PP avg. Only in the last series we did not cross 40. The way henry was swinging the ball today, they surely would have 10-2 in 2 overs.

If you have a better batsmen then Babar then sure he should face as many overs as he can... but you don't.
Babar is pure class, all format batsman. You want him to bat as long as possible in the shortest format. Like Butler does in T20's.
There is no one better then him so he should always open.
Others have to make a case for themselves to push for promotion, but really when you have a once in a generation player like Babar then batting him anyway other then as open opener seems silly.
