What's new

Pakistan v Sri Lanka | 3rd T20I | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore | 09 October, 2019 | Pakistan innings

One of the biggest mistake Pakistan has made, is that it has started picking players for the national team from PSL. PSL would never give you quality Test and ODI players as it is a very low class tournament. That has to come from 4 day cricket in the domestic. Irrespective of how bad the quality is of domestic, 4 days in itself tests your mettle and fitness. Only the good players will succeed there. The pitches have been made flatter now so hopefully it will allow batsmen to learn the art of long batting and will help bowlers develop the art of taking wickets.

But again, consistency needs to be rewarded. It would be a monumental mistake to again start selecting players based on 1 season's performance.

It's a long process. The new setup must be given 3 years to implement their vision. There will be bumps along the way like this series loss against SL but you just have to ride it. Changing the whole coaching setup again after 1 year would be another disaster.
But will selectors ever consider consistency over
seasonal heroics?

Babar should just rotate the strike - no need to panic yet.

Not even going at 6 rpo in the powerplay. Put your hand on heart and say with sacha imaan did you see this type of batting during Mickey era? This is just a sign of things to come. 8-9 rankings in all formats. Thank you Misbah.

Babar is trying to put the ball away. He's just struggling a bit because of a couple of failures. He already has a weaker record in chases as it is, in comparison to his first innings record.

Haris is doing fine.

Critcal stage of babar azam inning. He is weak against hitting the spinner let's see how he goes about it

Find a boundary an over but otherwise just rotate the strike - should be a straightforward chase..

Even with 9 wickets in hand, out two best batsmen are struggling to bat 7 runs per over. Misbah always commanded his batsmen at the top of the order to play defensively and he's doing the same again now.

Maybe a whitewash is what we need for the PCB to wake up and smell the coffee.

They will smell the coffee and continue on with Misbah’s 3 year contract

The signs aren’t looking good.

these 2 batsmen have a gameplan. Haris is the hitter of this partnership while Babar is the run a baller

It was a travesty to not have selected Fawad, but I think it's too late now. He's already 34 and doesn't have many years left in him so it makes sense to move forward and invest in younger players.

Also Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq needs to be phased out.

They will get rid of him but I fear it will be too late by then because PCB will hesitate every year until reality hits them just prior to the 2023 WC.

It was never going to work with Misbah but the one who has really let us down is Wasim Khan who was primarily responsible for appointing him.

Having said that I also hear a rumour that IK was the one behind this, after all him and Misbah belong to the same family (Niazis).

Even if we had batted in minus first innings we would have struggled With Akmal and Shehzad. We are having cricket at home after so long time and have really let the crowd down.

True. No justification for playing either of them , especially shehzad, in 2019.

it would have been a 4 ..that was the only shot he could play with that ball but they dont have a saffy who drops catches

Hasn’t PCB become non-political?

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true.

Quite a poor series for Babar.
Looks a completely different player from the ODI series and his t20 stint for Somerset.

Wow so they've made the req. run rate close to 10 now and still 7 overs to go.

Now Sarfaraz will torment us.
Just despise watching him bat.He has no place in the side.

Am I the only one sick of seeing tea and biscuits sales pitch every 10 mins from fans and commentators? Its embarrassing to watch.

Yes the Govt's powers have toned down now, so the PCB is technically an independent body. Unlike the past, they no longer hold the power to change the Chairman or dissolve the board.

However, if IK asks Mani for a favour he will oblige, after all it was the PM who made him Chairman.

Lets also not forget IK was unhappy over Afridi's captaincy following the group stage knockout in the 2016 WT20 and went on to mention that Misbah should have been the one leading the side (even though he he had retired from the shortest format).

One difference in this T20 series so far in the batting department between these two teams.

Total sixes hit (so far):

Sri Lanka - 15
Pakistan - 3

pakistan media reporting that sri lanka has agreed to play one test match in pakistan in december.

So Sarfaraz is trying to make a point... too bad the hole he dug for himself is getting deeper and deeper. Only if he was man enough to ask his own team and play according to his style we would have been somewhere...Instead he chose to be a Yes man and now paying the price..

It will be interesting to see how these two will chase it down. Required run rate is high for the likes of Sarfraz and Haris. Let's see.

The thing is I supported Misbah’s selection but if this is how his stint will go, then his days as coach-cum-selector will be numbered.

they are letting the required Rate to go above 15 and than this shameless captain will blame the upcoming batsman or will say we tried our best, never hated a Pak player this much.

A 3 - 0 result is better for Pakistan . If they win this game they will be happy with mediocrity

our batsman thinks like that in last 3 to 4 overs we can get any required run rate automatically and so chill out for 1st 17 overs and let the required rate sky rocket.

Probably thinking we have Asif Buttler to come.

What a shame.... Pakistan was doing pretty well before Misbah came on. Seriously this dude is cancerous. Results of selecting an average player with no prior coaching experience.

we always lose these kind of chases not in the end but in the start and middle where we go ultra defensive, for no **** reason. Rinse and repeat.
