Who should open in the next game ?

Should Amin be tried as an opener ? Surely, he should be able to perform better than shehzad...

Even though it's just an exibition match with ropes pulled on and a flat road we still witnessed Sarfraz and Shehzad looked comedians when they were expected to score quick.

Both most likely wont score much but aatleast Umar Amin will look good scoring whatever he scores

Both dont deserve to be in the side.
But from the available options Umar Amin.

Well to be fair Umar Amin has not even received 10% of chances Shehzad has

This is not an ideal T20 batting line up defintely. Pakistan will struggle to reach semis with current batting line up.

wich batsmen should come in in your opinion

I'd like Babar to open, if not might as well try out Amin.

Umar Amin. Shehzad struggled today on a flat pitch when the pressure was off considering Azam was smashing it as well. Shehzad is a joke of a batsman in my opinion. All he is good at these days is fielding

Pakistan v World XI | 2nd T20I | Lahore | September 13, 2017 | Pre-Match Thread

Not much time to celebrate today's result as the second match is tomorrow.

I would like to see the following team, with changes being in bold:

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Umar Amin - awful innings from Shehzad, although we all expect that from him now
3) Babar Azam
4) Shoaib Malik
5) Sarfraz Ahmed (C) (WK)
6) Imad Wasim
7) Faheem Ashraf
8) Shadab Khan
9) Sohail Khan
10) Hasan Ali
11) Rumman Raees

So just one change should be made from today's clinical performance

Neither of them. Babar should open with Fakhar.

If I had to pick between the two, I would go with Amin for the simple reason he isn't Shehzad.

Shehzad on a flat pitch didn't look threatening with the bat and struggled really on against some dead bowlers like Perera. Amin is far better and can exploit the first 6 overs well with his timing and orthodox style.

Not sure if Amin makes the T20 side, but if he is to play, I think Babar should open & Amin should bat at 3. Last format that Shehzad should play is T20.

Kaptaan says he played a good innings today and helped to steady the innings with Babar after fall of first wicket...

Kuptan himself is struggling to justify his spot in T20, so he is talking sweet for everyone. It was a horrible innings at any T20 standard.

I would be tempted to open with Faheem and Fakhar. but I am 100% sure same team ll play

this is what i was thinking,,sarfu guy doesnt belong to t20..the sooner we accept it the better itis,,we should go with fakhar or someone else as t20 captain..may be babar azam...

This is what the playing XI should be, but I won't hold my breath:

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Babar Azam
3. Fahim Ashraf
4. Sarfaraz * +
5. Imad Wasim
6. Aamer Yamin
7. Shoaib Malik
8. Shadab Khan
9. Hasan Ali
10. Usman Khan Shinwari
11. Rumman Raees

Would like to say Umar Amin get a go and Fahim Ashraf get longer to bat, don't mind whoever Amin replaces.
Usman Shenwari should also get a chance before Amir comes back

Sarfraz is really a burden as a t20 batsman unless we loose early wickets.

Umar Amin should come in for Shehzad in next match.

World XI should play this team:

 1. Tamim Iqbal
 2. Hashim Amla
 3. Faf du Plessis
 4. David Miller
 5. Darren Sammy
 6. George Bailey
 7. Grant Elliot
 8. Tim Paine
 9. Samuel Badree
 10. Morne Morkel
 11. Imran Tahir

Must have to be a bowler - Babar & Fakhar'll be captain to their batting ideology; neither good approach for captaining a side like PAK. Imad is a great prospect - strictly for T20 captaincy; otherwise Hasan isn't bad. This is considering that they won't make Amir captain.

IKR Pak need to find some alternative keeper in T20

Best bet was Umar Akmal, but ........

I think, there is none else left till 2020 WC - PCB has to invest on Ruhail Nazir. In the mean time, Arthur should be given one last chance to get his hand on Umar's back ........

Fakhar can be given a chance, only if he is ready to increase 250% work load and start bowling seriously; so that he can replace MoHa as 5th bowler in ODI & compete with Imad ball par ball in T20. X sailor, therefore fitness & discipline won't be an issue; just need to develop bowling intelligence, which Arthur can help.

MMHS Ideally some new WK-Bats should be encouraged. I don't think any of our players can be a make shift keeper like Peter Handscomb (of course ignoring Akmals).

If fitness wasn't an issue, I'll take Umar every day and spank him twice a day to keep him in shape & sober. He'll never, never do what Shehzad or Sarfu did today - if he bats 36 balls, he'll cross 50+ against any team, against this WXI attack probably 70+; if he comes at 5 with 4 overs to go, he won't go for 4 (5) for sure.

But, fitness & discipline can't be compromised, so no sympathy. Among WKs, few years back some Siddique had great stats, but he has 5-7 years hidden in his age; so now officially at 27-28. he has already gone to AWOL. This kid Nazir should be very good with bat - almost every age level cricket he is among best bat, but I have never seen him & can't tell about keeping; officially just 16, so even with couple of years buffer, fantastic prospect & ideal candidate to replace Sarfraz in 3/4 years time. .

Just read the discussion about Sarfaraz.

People seem to have forgotten that Sarfaraz only batted for five deliveries today.

it is fact that sarfy is a limited hitter, he isn't a slogger, a decent ish player who doesn't eat up too many balls at a 120ish strike rate in t20s, but can be very useful in ODI

I agree. Babar to open and then Yamin can bat at six.

Of all people, I don't want Babar to move. He's gotta be our number 3 in every format. I want that ingrained into his psyche. Just leave him there and let him play under pressure every time. Force him to lead the team. This will pay off dividends when he enters his prime.

I am not saying he is a slogger, but I am not sure where some posters get this crazy idea he somehow doesn't merit a place in the team. Sarfaraz is busy at the crease and excellent at rotating the strike. He should bat in the top four and play the steady hand. As you have said he can easily bat at a 120 SR, whilst giving the strike to whoever is at the other end.

These same posters forget he is playing three roles in the team. Now that we have a settled captain, these posters take it for granted and forget how difficult captaincy is.

As a follow up, I have no objection to developing bench strength and I agree Sarfaraz should be rested from meaningless IT20s now and again. But that would be done on the basis of managing Sarfaraz's workload, not because I don't think he is good enough.

I see what you are saying, but it hasn't done Kane Williamson any harm.

Replace Shehzad with Amin. The rest of the team already has far too many bowling options.

Hafeez could have been useful in these conditions.

World XI need to play both Badree and Tahir

Also another front line fast bowler needs to be brought in overnight.
World XI has shambolic bowling and it discredits the runs scored by Pakistan

If he doesn't bat at 4 in limited overs, he will struggle. In ODI coming at 5 he should be ok but in t20 at no.5 he is going to struggle when it is the situation like yesterday. He can milk spinners in middle overs which is his strength he should try to use it to good effect.

It's raining in Islamabad and doesn't look like its going to stop. What are the conditions like in Lahore?
