Pakistan vs Leics, 3 Day Match, Update Thread

Maybe the hiarcut makes a difference afterall?

well a reasonable first day play by Pak. Sami seems to be bowling reasonabley well

However both spinners were off, why does it seem like the majority of time danesh kaneria needs to bowl long spells to take a few wickets against county opposition. He should be bowling teams out with his ability. or is he overated????

Danish Kaneria 25 6 83 2

If you look at Warne and Mushie(Im not saying he should be in the team ahead of Danesh ) they seem to do very well on the county circuit. Whereas Danesh just seems to be average.

Am I being too harsh? or do others feel the same?

Kaneria is a good bowler at best, my worry is he tends to conceed alot of runs before taking most of his wickets. I think he will need to improve that fact in this series.

kaneria becomes most threatening after he concedes his first 100 runs. All said and done , this series is gona be a rebirth of sami.

I was at grace road today, met quite a few of the players and the coach.

K, Meet Afridi ? :D

Sami doing well, hope he's picked waise.

Yup Freedi was there and had a decent fan following. He kept his distance from them in the morning session but as the day wore on, he was more willing to sign autographs.

One funny incident, we were stood at the square leg boundary waiting for afridi's autographs and everytime he came close to the ropes to sign various memorabilia, a group of about 5 girls started screaming. On about 4th or 5th time, he snapped:

"Tum larkiyan ho kay churailain, cheekhna band nahin karteen"

Everybody started cheering Afridi, it was hillarious.

Are you girls or witches, dont you ever stop screaming

Waqar Younis was quite rude and pushed away several young autograph hunters. Inzi on the other hand preferred to stay indoors and even when he went to the nets, he went through the field where no spectators were allowed as did Razzi for that matter.

Malik and Sami were the most willing to give out autographs.

Looking forward to good day with the bat for Pakistan now. Would like to see these two (Farhat and Butt) spend the time in the middle.

Apparently Sami cleaned up the tail - how fast / well did he bowl ? ( on a sluggish pitch according to BW on SkySports )

Mohammad Sami bowled well all day, but particularly in the evening when he removed Tim New (5) and Claude Henderson (0) in quick succession.

Sami haters will be [Edit by Mods: Easy Mian !] come the test series..wait and see

Woolmer - satisfactory start.

WOOLMER SATISFIED WITH PAKISTAN START

Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer declared himself satisfied with the tourists' performance at Grace Road on the first day of their England tour.

Leicestershire made 315 for nine declared after being put in to bat but Woolmer said: "I thought it went pretty well for us.

"The seamers bowled well and so did the spinners and they all worked hard on what was a sluggish pitch.

"I thought we played some good cricket and although the Lord's pitch will be nothing like this one, it was good for the bowlers to get as many overs as they did under their belts.

"We have been practising for two weeks in Pakistan in preparation for the tour and now it is a case of getting used to the conditions and settling into the rhythm of a tour.

"I feel we are well prepared and the fact that we beat England in Pakistan in the winter will have no bearing on this tour.

"I know that England have some injury problems but as far as I am concerned, I am not going to worry about what happens in their camp. We have just got to concentrate on our game."

Commenting on Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan's chances of being fit for the first Test, Woolmer said: "We are still waiting for tests and Rana has still not been ruled out or ruled in."

I wonder how fast Sami was bowling, I hope he's back to bowling 90+.

Butt Sahib scores a single moves on to 8

Butt is playing quite cautiously, he knows this is his chance to impress

I want Immy and Malik to open though, ideally.
