In this test, this is how many runs have been scored so far - each day;
1st day: 294 runs were scored.
2nd day: 283 runs were scored.
3rd day: 240 runs were scored.
4th day: 334 runs were scored.
5th day: 278 runs needed!!!
Younis, Malik, Misbah can pull it through (at least can make a match of it).....if they all bat like Younis...... but........it is a world record chase.....and 5th day......and pitch helping Harris!!!!

Amoeba said:Pakistan batted quite well today, apart from the openers which was very predictable. Also it was very predictable that we'd lose a wicket before the close. What wasn't predictable however was that Bhanja would actually score some runs.
Anyway a long way to go yet and we only have three decent batters left in the hutch - Misbah, Malik and Kaneria. Need YK to get a double hundred and Malik a century if we are to get close.
The morning session will be vital as we can only afford to lose Asif's wicket. Don't think we have anyone who can really hang around for a draw. So it's win or bust.

Well almost-saved Pakistan no matter the result tomorrow, you played good but you need more Test matches and less of this short-version palava.

Good one filo.......sofee
ahhh i just noticed, sofee! That sounds better!
Hash said:how are we suppose to know?
filosofee said:What's the matter with filosofee? ( = philosophy) And the real name's not Sofee.
So what do you think chaps, can we do it? Can our brothers on the pitch score the needed runs, I think so, well, hope so.

Boundary View said:There have been thousands of situations like this. A team chasing over 400. Handlily placed at the close of day 4. Over 250 needed on final day. In all but 4 of these situations - the chase has proved fruitless.
I am looking for a fighting performance tomorrow from Pakistan. They have no chance of winning. The wicket is taking spin. The pitch is crumbling. Pakistan have the following players to support YK - Misbah, Malik and Akmal. Gul, Asif and Kaneria will contribute no more then 10-20 runs in total at best. That leaves 4 players to get 250 on this type of wicket. Only one of these 4 is test class (YK).
The two likely scenarios are :
- Pakistan will collapse like a pack of cards and the game is over in the 1st session or just after lunch. Saffers to win by 200 runs.
- Pakistan actually put up a big fight and show some spirit. They will probably bat up to tea or just after tea. Saffers to win by 120 runs.
It all boils down to one question- how badly do the team want to win/draw this because where there is a will there is a way.Plasma said:today it looked like he was playing with 10 year old!! Amazing stuff from him. I was very scared at how he was driving, but he middled every ball!!
I sense a win that will be remembered for many years to come.
Play positive boys!! we do this!!![]()

kablooee87 said:Younis' innings so far has meant that Pakistan don't really have to make a conscious decision on whether they want to save the match or win the match. The required run rate is low enough that they don't have to go out and try to score runs. Stay out there are you'll be pretty close to that RRR.
I keep getting the feeling that Misbah is going to play an important role tomorrow. He has a knack for that doesn't he?Hash said:It wont go higher than 4.5 unless we totally shut up shop....which I can't see happening.
We need someone to score another 120 runs (Younis?)
We need someone to score 50 (Kamran?)
We need someone to score 70 (Malik?)
That's 240 runs, which leaves 38 to get between Asif, Misbah, Danish and Gul.
My prediction is that we will either utterly capitulate and be 8 wickets down at lunch or we will cruise along until we have about 50 runs to win and then have a mini collapse and win by 1/2 wickets with Danish hitting the winning runs (glorious cover drive for four off Nel)
iZeeshan said:Actually, I think it will be Malik and Misbah after Younis falls on 99.
he is also capable of catching it after hitting it twice, calling for a run and then throwing it to the other stumps. I hate it when he does thatHash said:Will be out 'hit the ball twice'
