Still a long way to go but an excellent day for us, and one that has left all results open for tomorrow

Mohammad Hafeez might as well savour the 'test match dressing room atmosphere' for the last time - it was an UNFORGIVABLE shot. No feet movement playing away from hos body! He could barely reach it!

I may find a way to stay home and watch all the final day!!!

OK....guys,
In this test, this is how many runs have been scored so far - each day;

1st day: 294 runs were scored.
2nd day: 283 runs were scored.
3rd day: 240 runs were scored.
4th day: 334 runs were scored.

5th day: 278 runs needed!!!

Younis, Malik, Misbah can pull it through (at least can make a match of it).....if they all bat like Younis...... but........it is a world record chase.....and 5th day......and pitch helping Harris!!!!

I sense something happening

Geoff Lawson could have a big role to play in this - instilling a bit of aggression into the side has been good to see.

Younis has scored 93 runs at a strike-rate of 93.93!!

man the black guy on Super2 is jumping as if SA has won the match already

Let's be realistic about it. We practically have to score the remaining runs with 4 main batsmen. Which means, on average they'd each want to score 60-70 runs each. I think we're going to collapse on the final day (I'm being realistic) unless Younis continues and plays a chanderpaul.

Pakistan batted quite well today, apart from the openers which was very predictable. Also it was very predictable that we'd lose a wicket before the close. What wasn't predictable however was that Bhanja would actually score some runs.
Anyway a long way to go yet and we only have three decent batters left in the hutch - Misbah, Malik and Kaneria. Need YK to get a double hundred and Malik a century if we are to get close.
The morning session will be vital as we can only afford to lose Asif's wicket. Don't think we have anyone who can really hang around for a draw. So it's win or bust.

will be very interesting tomorrow might decide to stay awake in the morning for this one.

All 3 results are possible. This is turning out to be a good advt. for Test cricket.

Trust me man if YK scores 200 and malik 100,tomorrow you will see a world record chase

Pity then that it is probably being played in front of the usual three men and a snake charmer.

Draw will NOT happen...they way Younis is batting. Either he'll win the match early or if he gets out, other may not last long!

Man..thats is great stuff from Younis....feel sad for Faisal..I have faith in Faisals talent..he will come good for sure.
I hope Younis plays the best ever test innings to take Pakistan to victory

There are just 2 possibilities

Either Pakistan will win or lose,no darw

Faisal wicket was a crucial one otherwise Pak had a good chance of chasing that total.

I would have been cautiously confident we could win had Faisal and Younis still been together at the crease.

But I don't blame Faisal for getting out to a ball which was an absolute beauty.

With just 7 wickets in hand it is going to need something very special! Something very memorable! And something very beautiful!

Either way, this has turned out to be quite a good test match! Not a 'boring' one at all!

Afridi should learn something from Younis.Younis, I believe is fasting as well, and playing & playing well too !!

Can someone confirm whether Younis IS fasting? I know its not important, but i want to know.

how are we suppose to know?

YK should restart his inning tmw and try not to play to aggressive as yesterday. Now is the time to anchor the innings like Kallis. If he can stay till lunch grood and if he lasts till tea then it will be bonus.

I think if we can last most of the day we can actually win this. RR as I said before will not be a problem. We have Akmal and Misbah if needed in the last few over to increase RR, only key is if Malik and YK can keep it together till lunch or hopefully tea.

Some people, eh, Oxy! Too lackadaisical to spell out the ID in full and he's love-ist (loves Balochis, what about Balochans? - joke! ) :))

Well almost-saved Pakistan no matter the result tomorrow, you played good but you need more Test matches and less of this short-version palava.

There have been thousands of situations like this. A team chasing over 400. Handlily placed at the close of day 4. Over 250 needed on final day. In all but 4 of these situations - the chase has proved fruitless.

I am looking for a fighting performance tomorrow from Pakistan. They have no chance of winning. The wicket is taking spin. The pitch is crumbling. Pakistan have the following players to support YK - Misbah, Malik and Akmal. Gul, Asif and Kaneria will contribute no more then 10-20 runs in total at best. That leaves 4 players to get 250 on this type of wicket. Only one of these 4 is test class (YK).

The two likely scenarios are :

- Pakistan will collapse like a pack of cards and the game is over in the 1st session or just after lunch. Saffers to win by 200 runs.

- Pakistan actually put up a big fight and show some spirit. They will probably bat up to tea or just after tea. Saffers to win by 120 runs.

What's the matter with filosofee? ( = philosophy) And the real name's not Sofee.

So what do you think chaps, can we do it? Can our brothers on the pitch score the needed runs, I think so, well, hope so.

yes he is fasting. I saw Sikhandar bakht after pakistan 1st inning and he mentioned that younis is fasting. He thought that if he want to fast then he should not play as it would affect his game. Younis have proved him wrong.

B/w a good fightback by younis and faisal. Pakistan need something exception tommorow. It doesn't look too promising to win but you never know. Younis have to stay there till the end and misbah, malik and kami have to support him well if we wan to win this match. Lets see what kind of performance pakistan can come up tomm.

If Kaneria could just hit a century.......look what Pak cricket has done to me, counting on Kaneria ...lol

I just saw some highlights of this test . Sad to see so many empty seats for such a wonderful test match .

When are we going to get out of this revolving door policy for the openers, day in they fail ... day out they fail

Its like failure is their middle name. We need to find some middle aged players in the domestic league who can bat for atleast 1/2 a session, irrespective of their scoring rates.

Malik is definately Test Class. Remember his innings against Sri Lanka?

Misbah has a point to prove. And Akmal...well Akmal has more than just a point to prove...he should be fighting for his place...

Anyway, the odds are stacked against us, but there is a faint hope. YK and Malik can lead us to victory. And if things go pear shaped by lunch, and IF we still have Malik at the crease.... We may just slow things down and bat the day out... that is very unlikely though as too many overs remaining... for that to happen we need to bat at less than 2 runs per over... just can't see it.

YK needs a double century, Malik for a century, that leaves 78 to get between the rest....

I missed the action today.

How was the pitch playing?

Do Pak have a realistic chance of winning this match?

Hi, guys

Good knock by Younis, but will i be enough. A draw it out of the question. Chasing 400+ has never been done before, we cannot play negative, if we do we will definately lose.

Is win or bust!!

Rather go fighting, asif in the morning should try to rotate the strike, get as many runs as possible. If hes out doesnt really matter, bring on Misbah.

As long as they lose lose by a big amount i dont mind.

Come on!!!

We are going to pull off a memorable win. Mark my words.

Incredible batting by Younis. Unbelieve stuff. Still don't want him eh?

He's gonna win it for us. Him and Malik.

today it looked like he was playing with 10 year old!! Amazing stuff from him. I was very scared at how he was driving, but he middled every ball!!

I sense a win that will be remembered for many years to come.

Play positive boys!! we do this!! :19:

It all boils down to one question- how badly do the team want to win/draw this because where there is a will there is a way.

Younis' innings so far has meant that Pakistan don't really have to make a conscious decision on whether they want to save the match or win the match. The required run rate is low enough that they don't have to go out and try to score runs. Stay out there are you'll be pretty close to that RRR.

I said that on day 3 and i have a feeling (well I have that in almost every match) that Pakistan will win

Yes Agree completely.
YK has done a great job but there is no need to be overly aggressive and lose your wkt that way. I think they should target staying on the crease as long as possible and runs will come. We already have Akmal and Misbah so if YK and Malik can get us close they can push the pedal to get us close. Regradless I do not really see RR going any higher than 5 rpo.

It wont go higher than 4.5 unless we totally shut up shop....which I can't see happening.

We need someone to score another 120 runs (Younis?)
We need someone to score 50 (Kamran?)
We need someone to score 70 (Malik?)

That's 240 runs, which leaves 38 to get between Asif, Misbah, Danish and Gul.

My prediction is that we will either utterly capitulate and be 8 wickets down at lunch or we will cruise along until we have about 50 runs to win and then have a mini collapse and win by 1/2 wickets with Danish hitting the winning runs (glorious cover drive for four off Nel)

I keep getting the feeling that Misbah is going to play an important role tomorrow. He has a knack for that doesn't he?

I also have a feeling that Pak might sneak a spectacular win. It's really going to take something. I feel Misbah is going to aid Younus in the chase. Fingers crossed.

Actually, I think it will be Malik and Misbah after Younis falls on 99.

Will be out 'hit the ball twice'

he is also capable of catching it after hitting it twice, calling for a run and then throwing it to the other stumps. I hate it when he does that
