Afridi steps away from the stumps and smashes it straight down the ground into the fielders hand.

He's out, well played Afridi 47 off 26

tuttttteeeeeeee block

Gone. What a fab innings it was though. Brutal, as ever, and he did scare a few South Africans.

even indian commentators are honest!!

everytime a new bowler has been brought in, he has pegged us back with wickets. Kallis, Langveldt, and now Morkel. Good captaincy by Smith.

Gul is here to save the ddddddddddddddddddayyyyyyyyyy

with his side kick Power house Anjum

pak could have won this. if Mohammad Yousuf wasnt playing so slow.

it was because of MoYo we made it THIS far!!

hafeez, Ykhan to blame

SA won by 45 runs. But well played Pak, specially MoYo, Tanvir, and Afridi.

you dont get to say thos often but our batting let us down more than our batting! Well played Afridi, Yoyo and Tanvir!

killlllller poster faiz....... tru init i reckon Akhtar would have a chance!! NOTTTTTTT

ps.. cheer up guys, ATLEAST WE WERNT kicked out of the EURO'08 football tournament!!! ;-)

Well Done S.A

As per usual pakistan top order of brainless nazir, Pinch-blocker Hafeez and Useless khan failed to get pakistan off a decent start!

hard luck guys....see you fought back nicely at the end but just not to be.....

SAF win by 45. Good fightback by the tail. I blame this loss on Kamran Akmal.

Yeah, he wasted deliveries when they needed to accelerate, but still credit to him to steady the ship with Moyo when we were 92-5.

Two century makers in the SA team, what were our bowlers bowling!
exactly.....south africa was batting bad until TWO people made a CENTURY....i miss Sami! He was good! I would've replaced Sami for Rao....way more experienced and better, and QUICKER! we need onequick
pacer! Except what would be better is if Shoaib akthar was in our team...NO WONDER we WON that 2nd Test in the 06-07 Series

MAN! akmal had to stay for just a few more moments! OH YEAH! Tanvir!!! SO UNLUCKY MAN! Pakistan would've atleast gotten past 250! Cuz tanvir was in smacking form! Yeah! MoYo and Akmal had to stay until 39 overs and then bring on Afridi. MoYo could've gone past 70 runs, but I think Akmal should've gotten a 50 first then got out.....it makes it look like PAK tried hard enough, just slipped short of the score required to win!

Im actually fine with this loss....It was the first match I've seen Shahid Afridi trying to save Pakistan in a while. The last few ones were his three quick innings in the VB Series. Also, his banging half-century against Sri Lanka with the 446666!

*** is this??? no presentation ceremony??
you must be watching Zee sports coverage. they didn't show the presentation for Pakistani test either

Afridi....so close yet so far but brilliant inning under pressure! The ones here who are blaming akmal for the loss really need to watch the game! We lost this game b/c of bad bowling & poor batting from the top order. I have said this before & i will say it again- Rao cannot be played on Pakistani pitches which offer nothing to the bowler, we needed pace not another medium pacer. Nazir got out to a blinder of a catch so i will not be very harsh on him but as far as Hafeez goes i don't even know what he is doing out there (while batting). Sadly we have no other option but to play him b/c of his spin unless the team wants to take the risk of going in with rehman (ideally i would have like Alam to play). Afridi, Yousuf, Akmal & sohail shoudl be proud of their efforts.

Well a good fight back in the end by Afridi and Tanvir after Kami and Yousuf set up a bit of a platform (ideally they needed to go on for 3 or 4 more overs and up the rate a bit but these these things are easier said than done).

Mohammad Hafeez has to go. I have been a big supporter of his until recently but now my patience has run out. The more established posters here know that it takes quite a lot for me to lose patience with a player and Hafeez has tested it for long enough. He wasted 18 balls early on and not only cost us his own wicket (while wasting 3 overs without scoring any runs) but also cost us the wicket of Younis Khan. He put far too much pressure on Younis to get some runs and as a result Younis got out.

I say, move Kami up the order and open with Nazir and Kamran on Saturday. Bring in Abdur Rehman...he is the only other bowling option we have and his batting isn't going to be any worse than Hafeez.

oh and a special mention has to go to Tanny's six. That was simply mindboggling. Jayasuriya AT HIS BEST, Lara AT HIS BEST, Gilchrist AT HIS BEST etc would have been proud of that shot.

We could have a special talent here in Tanny if he brings his bowling up a notch and tightens up a bit....most importantly starts to bring that ball into the right hander (Tanny....get on the phone to Wasim TONIGHT, don't wait until tomorrow, if you are reading this call him NOW)

I missed the whole match. Were our batsman really poor? And our bowlers? How did Afridi bat?

I agree, Hafeez has to go. He's had many chances and the fact is that he isn't particularly good with either bat or ball. He's bits and pieces here and their.

Tanveer was excellent with bat. We could have an excellent allrounder on our hands here!

I think it's time Pak pick two specialist bats for their batting and batting alone and persist with them. For ODI's my pick is Yasir Hameed and Imran Nazir. Akmal at the top is another way to go. But Hafeez is not opening material this should be well known by now. Average of under 20 after all these matches.

Afridi was at his very best with both bat and ball. But the top order left waaay too much for him to do like usual.

Afridi's first 5 overs were nothing short of brilliant but he fell apart in the next 5 overs.

Tanvir was brilliant today. Even with the ball he was decent, just that one last over which went for 21 spoiled his figures. With the bat he was even overshadowing Afridi at the crease! That flick for six was one of the best shots that I have ever seen, and the amazing thing was the timing. This guy can become something very special if he works hard on developing his game

I really like this Tanvir guy

He has that 'fighting spirit'. The way he came out today with the bat and looked totally at ease and just went for it, the way he bowled Jayasuriya with a beauty the ball after dropping him, the way he bowled well under pressure consistently in the 202o cup.....he definitely has that fighting edge which makes the difference between an average cricketer and a good cricketer.

Now he just needs to tweek his bowling a little and he will be one very good find for us.

With Tanvir, we have a talent that is maellable - a potential gem if nurtured the right way.

The one positive of Pak cricket in the last couple of months.

was it just my virgin media box, or did ARY coverage pause/crashed when robin jackman just started the presentation ceremony?? anylinks to the presentation ceremony oxy?
