What's new

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 1st Test | Abu Dhabi | Sep 28 - Oct 2, 2017 | Day 4

I really hope Pakistan is looking to win this . . We will have to completely blow it from here to lose it . . however, hte only chance we have of winning now is to start bowling and get them out within 170 180 in 2 sessions or so . . So no point hanging around . . get as many as you can, and start bowling! cuz they sure as hell dont have the resources to be 100 ahead by end of the day

Abu Dhabi needs to be shelved as a venue unless the pitch here gets better.

This had draw written all over it. Enjoy making Lankans toil hard. No point in hitting out

Why is Haris taking a double on the last ball of the over when he should be content with just 1 run ?

Novjaanoon nay aaj bata diya hai

Some Punjabi accent
I can't understand it

Herath will be very frustrated from Abbas :p Abbas defended almost 4-5 overs of him. Herath must be thinking if Haris can be on strike some how...

They have better chance of dismissing Harris. :p

Haris has a SR of almost 50 while batting almost wholly with the tail yet our top order bats with a SR of 35 every innings.

For God sake declare. Otherwise we don't have any chance to win this match.

Good, strange innings by Sohail, well done:)

500+ was there for the taking on this pitch but its a young, rejigged batting order so one has to cut them some slack.

Need to make early inroads otherwise we're headed for Drawsville.

Pakistan nees to get Sri Lanka out under 250 max. With min. 2 sessions remaining and playing at a run rate of 4.20+

There's no way SL is declaring before Tea on the 5th day given the SR's on offer in this Test. So I can see only two results possible: Draw or a Pak win.

what SL need to do to win, Score Atleast 250 in 2 sessions than try to get pak out in last 2 sessions, What Pak need to do to win, get out SL under 200 and then score that in last 2 session, what I think will happen, SL will get out around 250 an hour after lunch tomorrow, and Pak will make around 100 for 3 or 4 down and it will be a draw.

If SL manage to get a lead of 200 then it will be a draw or SL win.

Pakistan must get em under 150.

we can manage 200 in 2 sessions but anything more we should shut the shop. and secure a draw.

Amir bowling at 130kph.

Just as i speak he bowls one at 139. Pretty sure he can crank it up to 145 but he hardly looks to put in any serious effort.

Hasan Ali needs to start bowling with the new ball. I don't see this trundler Abbas getting a wicket here.

Haha yes. But he just seems like a polished version of Imran Khan (the recent one). A Jaffa here and there and a few meaningless wickets.

Is this his 1st test in UAE? If so, lets see how he bowls in this series.

Other than the West Indies series, Pakistan's new ball bowling in Tests hasn't been incisive enough in the last year.

Mickey Arthur criticised the new ball bowling in the press conference two days ago.

Been a tight start so far though.

Commies were just talking about Shaheen Shah Afridi. Danny Morrison mentioned that Waqar showed him videos on his phone (I guess the one on Saj'a Twitter feed). He seemed very impressed.

Was surprised Rambo knew about him as well.

On these dead wickets, the key to fast bowling is simply line and length and lots of patience. No wonder Anderson and Broad have done quite well in UAE. They just stick to one line and length and that creates pressure. Amir tries to do all sort of stuff as if he is Wasim Akram.

Another key here is raw pace. Nobody in this team seems to have that.

Yes. A 5-6 over spell of brute pace can also shake the batsmen up. But what these Pakistani and SL pacers are bowling is rubbish.

Replays showing Karunaratne wasn't out !

The sound was of the bat hitting the ground, ball nowhere near the bat but he walked.

If Pakistan can prize out 4 wickets by the end of the day, the following SL batsmen will come out in a very timid manner tomorrow morning.

Waqar needs to up his game in commentary. He was convinced it was out until Russel brought it up that the ball missed the bat by quite a distance in replay! Waiting for when waqar will be the one pointing these things out...

Hasan Ali bending his back and already suffering from back problems. Fast bowlers this young are so prone to getting injured. We really need to manage his workload.

What a gem of a move from Sarfaraz by using Asad Shafiq

even batsman was convinced

Hasan Ali injured. That's happen when you play same players in every format. PCB is fool.

Haha- strike bowler picks up a wicket. :shafiq2

Inspired captaincy from Sarfaraz.

1-2 wickets before the close of play and Pakistan will win.

Asad Shafiq taking up the mantle left behind by the Professor. We are so blessed to find another player who is blessed in all facets of the game :hafeez2

Exactly and even against weak opposition's.

Hopefully is recovered by the LOI series. More worried about Yasir's workload. He bowled 17 more overs than Herath in the first innings despite us batting longer than SL.
