Shafiq has been a really good catcher for as long as I can remember, everyone has a bad game/series. Look at Steve Smiths current series against India.

Not in slips , catching in slips is a totally different ball game.
 
Lets hope we can polish inns off with no more damage.

We need to bat positively when chasing what ever total we are set.. none of this defensive batting nonsense off the 1st inns.
 
If Pakistan go out there in their defensive mindset (like they did in Barbados and countless other times), they will make a mess of this target! They need to go out there and not play to "survive" but play to win!
 
Pakistan now must go with an attacking mindset to chase these runs. This test reminds me so much of when England were chasing a similar target at Abu Dhabi and we bowled them out for 72. England's approach towards that target was shocking as they relied on surviving and thinking runs would come if they stuck to the crease.

However knowing Shan and Sami, they will try to tuk tuk their way towards the target. Would be the stupidest approach. Plus we don't have Misbah and Younis to cover us up now.
 
Easy win.

Pakistan to chase it down with around 8 wickets in hand if not 9.
 
Hopefully our openers will get us off to a good start and we can knock these runs off with ease.

Pakistan should chase this in one session by attacking the spinners rather than defending them.
 
Pakistan dosen't need to panic if they lose a wicket or two at the start. Because if it happens, Rangana Herath knows how to deal with it and he can alone win this game for Sri Lanka...:fz
 
This match just shows so far that test cricket still needs "5 day tests" not 4 day tests!
 
three easy wickets for srilanka going by names of masood, sami and asad.
All of them playing to cement their place in the team and that approach could be costly

We all thought it would be a draw but that's looking the most unlikely result now. Hope this isn't a repeat of the 2nd test against West Indies this year.
 
Rangana Herath to rip through pakistan and sri lanka to win by 15 runs... you heard it here first
 
I really hope that Sarfraz bats up the order. The dressing room needs to think out of the box. A top order if Sami, Azhar and Asad can't chase this down, they bat too slow to come even close.

My top 4 would be:
1) Masood
2) Sarfi
3) Harris
4) Babar

Quite right. It's not quite an all time classic test (who knows what is to come though) but it's been a nice slow burner. Sri Lanka were good enough to put Pakistan under real scoreboard pressure, but Pakstan held up & have now turned the screws themselves through Yasir Shah.

Sri Lanka's 3 spinner strategy vs Pakistan's (not really successful) 3 pacer strategy about to get a real test in the final innings!
 
I was expecting Sarfraz and Hasan Ali to open the innings... :/

Tell Sami, Test match doesn't mean to stand onto the crease, rather to stay on the wicket and squeeze runs.

This is the problem with the overly defensive approach.

Sami Aslam really needs to up his game and score at a higher SR.

Need 1 big partnership or 60-70 runs here to calm the nerves and push pressure back on SL.
 
Negative mindset here will cause wickets to fall... need to be positive here.
 
Come on Pakistan. Just need one partnership of like 50 runs and then SL's heads will start to drop.
 
How come Lakmal always becomes Steyn versus Pakistan?

I don't think I have seen him move the ball as much as he does against us.

He hasn't played competitive cricket since the Pakistan Cup. Give him a break. He has big scores in England + New Zealand where it is hard for anyone let alone young players.
 
Sandakan is still to come on and ball.

I still think Sami threw away his wicket, needs to get out of his pathetic overly defensive mindset.
