I had predicted if he gets into 40s, he'll score big.
 
39 off 59 SR of 66. Terrible innings.

Flat track. Terrible bowling. Easy target to chase. Home pitch. What more could you want. If you can't do it here, where will you do it.

He never looked comfortable at front foot. Gave away his wicket, that could have being avoided if fully committed to front foot.
 
another great ODI knock by good looking Shafiq with strike rate in the 60s. Pakistan needs target @ 6+ now. Thanks.

His first match since returning to the team after the World Cup. Not a bad start in my opinion, needs to build on it now.

Scratched around for a bit, never looked convincing. Haris to hopefully take us home now.

Yes, because unlike Shehzad he hasn't had a free run for 2 years. He has been in and out of the team and up and down in terms of batting position. That doesn't help any player.

Azhar is turning out to be a very fine opener. If we can find another good opener or Ahmed Shahzad matures and decides to work on his weaknesses, our opener problem is solved.

First of all presisting with Sami and Anwar..then not playing Baber Azam,dropping Sami Aslam, including Ahmed Shehzad but not Umar Akmal and on top of all they give Asad Shafiq another comeback despite his 54 failures.

He has barely ever played more than 5-6 matches on the trot, so it's early to say if he's not good enough for ODIs. If Azhar can adjust, I think he can as well.

Azhar was always fine. He averaged 41 before his comeback. Shafiq 24.

Azhar has improved his SR to perfection, I think Asad can as well. He won't be as good as Azhar but he can replicate his Test success.

I m sorry but shafiq is poor at picking length up quickly which is why he is late on the short balls.
U can't HV such a player in the middle order and he doesn't HV the power of misbah to bail himself out in BTW the tukk tukk
 
I hope Azhar celebrates this hundred with more dignity than he did versus Bangladesh.

If Shafiq can't even score at 70+ strike rate against this attack then there is no justification to defend him.

You can't have Azhar, Malik, Haris, Hafeez and Shafiq in the same line-up. Someone has to make way for a more attack minded player.

That's a large enough sample size to tell you he isn't good enough for ODI cricket. Its not like we're talking about a 19 year old who is just establishing himself into the side.

he always does but he never takes his chances. He has been given god knows how many comeback series but he has always failed. His miserable stats tells no matter how good he looks while batting he is never going to be a half decent ODI player.

Tbh both Umar and Asad are crap. Umar has been given a long run in Odi's still no improvement

Asad the less said the better

Umar will make a quick 30 then get out it will not be useful when we chase a 300+ score

A new player like Babar Azam should be inducted.

forget average..his strike rate is even astonishing in the modern ODI cricket. I think it has to be the worst by any batsman currently playing for any top 8 teams.

The attack-minded players have shown inability to last more than 25 deliveries, so it's a difficult situation for the management.

Azhar is making his comeback after 3 years but you see the difference in result. Malik has been treated same but even he smashed his way to quick hundred in the last game. No excuse for Asad presenting his average performance once again screwing a fine run chase.
 
Umar Should be kept away from the team for the sake of team , he is an irresponsible player and has shown no signs of learning in 5 years.
