Pakistan vs Zimbabwe | 5th ODI | Shiekhupura | 02/02/08 | Pak Innings

Ray Price exposing our batsmen deficiencies against decent spin. On this showing, i hope Macgill doesn't tour Pakistan.

Beautiful stadium we have here in Sheikhupura, pity we dont play there more often.

I dont consider "height" as a parameter to performance, especially for a batsman. Actually the shorter guys have a lower cente of gravity and thus get into line with the ball much better and are lighter, thus have more nimble, sharper footwork than a taller guy would...Just look at Gavaskar, Langer or Sachin. However, the taller guys generally speaking exude more confidence and as an opener one needs extraordinary self confidence and belief to succeed. So that probably explains why the taller openers are dominating world cricket at the moment.
taller guys can more easily get on top of the bounce on bouncy wickets and are harder to bounce and then there is this intimidation factor, i mean hayden coming down the track is way more scarier than say langer

some money needs to be put on the field tho
i mean you could see the dust fly of the ground when rauf was in his runup every step u could see how bad the grass/ground was

As I said earlier there are pros and cons of being either a short or tall batsman. However I personally would much rather prefer to get into line with the ball and have sharper footwork than merely getting on top of the bounce on a bouncy track. Most top players dont play the hook shot anyway. Its sort of a trade-off between certain advantages and disadvantages ones height presents. Thats why i dont consider height as an important or decisive parameter to performance as far as batting is concerned.

The intimidation factor is subsumed within confidence and self belief as stated earlier. IVA Richards was not all that tall and he was the daddy of intimidation.

Quite a few of the Pakistani cricket grounds are very dusty due to the climate and some of the dry regions we have in Punjab and Sindh.

Good win - but the bigger challenges lie ahead. You can only beat who is put in front of you though, and Pak have done well.
