One of the major reasons of Indian public losing interest in matches with Pakistan is consistent under-performance by Pakistan in ICC tournaments since last many years. It has just become ceremonial affair where nearly every time India wins, with Pakistan crumbling under pressure.
On the other hand, in Pakistan - matches with India still have still the same rivalry spirit, as Pakistani public want the team to defeat Indian team. That's why so much hype is created on Pakistani media everytime Pakistan plays India in ICC tournaments.
On sunday, if Pakistan is able to defeat India in the final of the Champion trophy this will go a long way in igniting rivalry between 2 sides. May be not as impactful as Miandad's six but still it will have some good effect.
